I found an interesting way to bum around in The Sims 3.
Playing the guitar for tips can really pay off.

I had a masterpiece that went for like 19k. It was nuts. I had almost 200k a week total from all the stuff.
But the point is with the guitar, you can effectively bum around as in homeless bum. Yeah you could probably do that with a laptop too, but it's not that believable for a bum to have a computer. Plus playing for tips has a more " counting on charity " feel.
I'm gonna go for a ghost with a future sim. Being able to have playable ghosts might lead to tons of fun.
