"Aww cheap." Rex groaned. "Wait, Darumaka, use Incinerate on the sand!" Darumaka did so, turning the sand to glass. Soon, Trapinch was visible, but a bit distorted from the glass. "Haha!"

Trapinch continued tunneling, ignoring the newly formed glass. It was soon out of sight and had collapsed the ground around Darumaka, but not the ground it was standing on. "That was... unexpected," Shaydas admitted.

"Daru?" Darumaka looked around.
"Eh...Darumaka...." Rex didn't know what to do next. "Umm, stale-mate?"

Trapinch poked its head out of the sand and looked around. "Tra... Pinch?(Um... Really?)" it said, somewhat confused. Shaydas sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "Can't say I saw that one coming," he laughed.

"Now! Incinerate!" Darumaka began to breathe intense flames towards Trapinch. "Heh heh, gotcha." Rex laughed.

Trapinch screeched in surprise. Shaydas responded by grabbing a pair of sand-proof goggles and tossing them to Rex. "You may wanna put those on," he suggested. Trapinch, meanwhile, was busy whipping up a powerful sandstorm, ignoring the painful attack from Darumaka.

Rex caught the goggles and put them on. Meanwhile, Darumaka took damage from the sandstorm, but not much, due to the desert being a Darumaka's natural habitat. "Ergh, Darumaka, get in with a Fire Fang!" Darumaka jumped towards Trapinch, going in for a close range attack.

Trapinch took the attack with a squeak. It shook its large head and charged toward Darumaka, jumping and clamping its jaws onto the fire Pokémon's head. Shaydas merely face palmed in reaction to the move choice. "I don't think he'll ever learn," he sighed.

Darumaka tried to reach up at Trapinch, but its arms were too short, so instead, it curled up, pulling its arms and legs into its fluff, now in a daruma doll state.

Trapinch gave a small chirp of confusion and relinquished his grip on Darumaka. It poked the Zen Darumaka a few times, trying to figure out if there was some sort of joke afoot.

Darumaka was rocked back and forth, when it rocked towards Trapinch, it suddenly woke up and used a close range Incinerate.

Trapinch was caught off guard by the hit and tumbled backward, unconscious. "You did good," Shaydas smiled, recalling the ant Pokémon. He sent out Kipper as a replacement. The Mudkip looked at its opponent and fired a shot of water that turned to mud in the sandstorm.

Darumaka was hit by the attack, taking considerable damage, it resumed its zen position, awaiting Kipper to get closer.

Kipper wasn't fooled this time. Shaydas had faked him out too many times during training to fall for that trick. "Kip! Kip mud!(that's not gonna work!)" Kipper laughed, throwing a Mud Bomb at Darumaka.

Darumaka rocked back from the attack, not seeming to notice it. In this state, Darumaka was not moved or bothered. Darumaka then popped out its arms going in for a Rage attack.
