[[Tower of Traitor]]

[[Cue: Si Deus Me Relinquit from Kuroshitsuji]]

Riku, Bobbi, James, Dawn, Dani & Nick stood at the center of a circular space of dimly lit cobblestone. At the edges of where the light ended and darkness consumed sight, prismatic mist swirled around violently before settling and resting in a gentle flow like a simple mountain stream.

There was a deep base tone, shaking the floor lightly. There, at the edge of the darkness, something could be seen, "Judges and Judged, you stand at the podium with authority in his hand in the form of a steel saber."

"Power to save. Power to destroy. Power to desecrate. Power to bless." The voice came from all directions as the darkness bellowed once more with the steady beat.

"But that power comes at a cost," there was a flash, blinding light illuminating a circle platform off to their side suspended in the abyss. On it were countless people, by their dress and mix of species, likely Narnian in nature, "That cost... is one you yourself decide. Or perhaps that cost is choice itself."

"Before you, you have 1,000 innocent lives dangled before death's door. You have the chance to save them, but only at the cost of sacrificing one of your own. Only 1 life in exchange for thousands. Choose your fate."

[ Amy : Narnia / Louis's Heart : Tower of Nightmare ]

Falling was not something she was prepared for, considering they were going into a tower. Stairs, maybe, or some form of ascent. Downward movement felt unproductive, and out of place. She wondered if Liar was really dead at all, and this was another illusion. Or maybe it was just the beginning of their 'nightmare'. They would have a nightmare, of course. Something to do with a river of blood where murderers boil and drown? Archers?

It felt like a long time before she woke up. Was she sleeping? Joe was looking at her from across the room. Mathy's body was crumbled on the floor in front of her. Her gun was aimed at him, smoking. "Whoa," she took a step back, looked back to Joe, assessing his expression, his reaction. He had to know she didn't do this. It was another illusion or something. She didn't believe for a moment that this was real.

[Joseph: Louis' Heart: Tower of Nightmare]

He opened his eye. He breathed in and sat up. He watched the scene play before him. His temper flared.

Of course, it wasn't at Amy.

His brain, in the attempt to process what was going on, remembered entering the tower, and then falling, followed by...pretty much just waking up. Which, to him, meant Nightmare must have already got his claws into him. And he wasn't a fan of being toyed with.

Amy finished speaking, and the male stood. He looked up, towards the ceiling if it was there. "See, you shards are really pissing me off. What mistake? What original plan? You can't conjure up something from nothing."

Was he a bit shaken? Sure. Seeing dead bodies, and of those he knew? Not really great. But he had a whole mess of inner anger to tap into, and still had the knowledge of what was going on.

So, he continued his focusing. That wasn't going to stop for him. And he called along the charms, privately, to his four companions in the tower. Would he get through? Maybe not. But it couldn't hurt to try.

John? Amy? Mathy? Kyla? Give me a signal if you can. Cause this shard has another thing coming if it thinks it's going to ******** with us.

[[Tower of Victim]]

[[Cue: Aria of Light Piano Ver. from GE2 by yu-yu]]

Kyle, Yuffie, Nanaki, Jenny, and Leon stood in a hallway colored in light greens and white with checkerboard linoleum flooring along with uncomfortable white lighting overhead in the form of tube bulbs dimmed only by a distorted glass.

Following the path they'd find themselves at the slightly ajar door to the only room along their path. With a light push it would open, light pouring out into the hallway, blinding all those there before fading and revealing, had they stepped through or not, they had been pulled into a small, sanitary, basic room of white walls, a single bed, a small chair as well as a TV that hung overhead that only showed black and white static blurring across the screen. A single window was at the far end of the room behind the lone chair, covered by a pale, pastel green curtain that flowed as though the window behind opened to allow a gentle breeze.

On the bed, a single figure of Louis in his early teens sat up staring at the curtain, unaware of their arrival. His hair was white and caught the light from overhead well, though its color did nothing to make his pale, sickly skin color any healthier looking. His upper body, exposed from beneath the sheets was covered in scars, still open wounds, and large bruises. These injuries looked as though they had been patched up lazily or by an amateur hand... or perhaps by the boy himself. The state of his arms likely did nothing to aid this. Two, massive scars across his forearms told tales of receiving what must have been a massive blow shattering and splintering the bones in a gruesome and visceral manner.

The first step caused the boy to turn, looking at them with a sullen, empty smile, "Oh... it's you. Come in and have a seat. Sorry... I guess I don't have many places to sit. Uh..." the boy looked at the floor, a beaten sadness overcoming his eyes before he looked back up, "I can move if you'd like the bed, I won't mind."

[ Amy : Narnia / Louis's Heart : Tower of Nightmare ]

'Yo,' Amy responded via charm, giving a little wave to identify herself. That was a relief. She thought he might be irrational and attack her or something. She could still hear him over charms, too, so that was even better. Now if Mathy, John, and Kyla responded she'd be even better. "This guy's a huge d**k," she said out loud.

[ Matthew : Louis' Heart : Nightmare ]

Matthew groaned as he woke up. Bed? This isn't where he should be. He should be with the others, walking into--oh. Lovely.

Sighing, he mentally prepared himself. What did Louis know about him? Nothing. So the worst he could do was...

The moment something tickled his neck, his entire body jumped in an attempt to curl up and away. Consequently, his forehead slammed into the too-close-for-comfort ceiling, causing him to yelp and curse. Then there was something else on his arms, and he yanked into a twist to avoid them, repeating the process to either side.

It's not real it's not real it's not real--

The air was stale and he felt his own breath churn against the coffin top back onto his neck and ears, and still he felt them wriggling, slithering, crawling--

He began to hyperventilate and thrash around, throwing a Goblin Punch along the side of the wall--but his luck was so bad that his arm hurt much more than any damage he'd done to the wood. Joe's charm message did little to calm him--it simply lit his panic up further.

"I'm trapped they're everywhere and I'm trapped and I can't move and I know it's not real but it is real I feel it they're here I can't move I can't get out--"

There was sudden clarity. He tried to still his breathing, but more importantly, he began to focus on his body, remembering a trick he'd picked up from Prote. Gaining what little attention he could from the escalating fear and adrenaline, he activated Phase Shift--and his body became intangible. He did not sink, since Prote had given him some pointers about how to maintain 'buoyancy', but with any luck, the sensations would stop.

[John .: Louis’ Heart :. Tower of Nightmare]

Upon smacking the ground John was in pain.

“Ooooooo… ok… ok…” he moaned.

John laid there motionless moaning for a good while. What he wanted to do at this point was to lay there and pity himself, but he realized they had a mission to accomplish. He got up slowly, making sure to not agitate anything.

No broken bones ok- …damn…

John looked out the white expanse, stunned. He looked around to the left and to the right, no one.

“Alright… so…”

At that moment he heard the voice of Joe followed by Amy. He couldn’t help, but smile at the two. He was about to respond when he heard Mathy’s voice. He was obviously dealing with his nightmare much worse than the rest.

”Hey ya, I’m in a um… really big white space… like that one Spongebob episode. Uhhhhh.. ya just white. I might just stay here and talk to y’all or maybe I’ll walk… ya I’ll walk and talk or um… ‘talk’ “

John began to walk forward across the hard white floor, spinning his hammer in his right hand.

[ Sayrike & Sora : Louis' Heart : Approaching Prisoner ]

"I was lost until you mentioned the Underworld, but I still don't know what 'Lethe' is," he said, shrugging in response to Joe. "But they are all pretty melodramatic. You think it's a dark earthling thing? Ajora was like that, too, but more..."

"Down to earth," Sayrike finished for him--he wouldn't have known the phrase to begin with--though she still seemed in thought. "At least, he flipped back and forth. The others weren't so much, though. Honestly, though, I don't think this is entirely Louis. It's just... too much. Like you said, Axel, mind-blowing. We know he had a lot of skill with tapping into dark magic. I think he just... pushed it too far. And this was the castle of an evil queen, an evil ice queen no less--I think he probably found something to amplify his magic."

"Maybe it's that dark abomination, and it's coming to collect?"

Sayrike didn't respond, her lips twisting into displeased contemplation. After a bit, though, she started up again. "Also, Axel, if you mean using a dark corridor, you probably... shouldn't. For awhile."

"Oh, yeah, Yen Sid warned Riku against it, too," Sora remembered, nodding. "Because of the... abomination. God. Gods? Thing."

[[Tower of Prisoner]]

[[Cue: Fragile Dreams - Emotional Skyscraper by t=Node]]

Joe, Sayrike, Axel, Sora, and Auron walked forward along their clean wooden path. To Joe & Sayrike, they could vaguely recognize the interior as eerily similar to the library found in Liar's illusion. The backdrop at the end of their long corridor of towering books was a large, atrium dome of glass. The twinkling of stars visible beyond the chandeliers and candlelight.

The bookshelves themselves were made of a very dark wood, cherry perhaps. The books, countless in shape and size. some shelves were neatly stacked, while others were bizarre and barely organized with sheets sticking out at rough angles. It was undoubtedly a massive collection of knowledge, lore, and fantastical adventures... yet even if one reached out far enough either through magic or a bit of luck, they'd find the books empty. Each page blank.

As they drew farther in, close to what felt like the middle of the library, the path opened up to a large circular area. At the very center, a single figure sat at a table, hunched over with a single book lying on the table before him. To the side, on the outer edge of the platform stood a record player, on, but skipping repeating the same static over and over and over.

At closer inspection, one would notice a chain leading up from the floor to the figure sitting at the table. Closer still they grew, the image getting clearer with every step. A collar lashed itself around the young man's neck, attached to the chain made of the same golden material. The chain connected to a bolted plate on the floor.

His clothing was simple, unassuming, normal. A button up shirt and jeans, a pair of rectangle black rim glasses sat on the table. His head rested sideways on the table atop a pair of crossed arms, where at the wrist golden chains and cuffs bound the hands together, the same could be said of the boy's ankles, his bare feet accessorized with cuffs, the tops of which one could spot scarring and raw skin attributed to struggle long since passed.

As they approached, he didn't move, instead, he sat there head rested facing the other way, breaths slow and gentle.

Further examination of the space revealed smaller, less noticeable things. In a ring around the circular clearing among the bookshelves, the wood floor was rough and splintered. Lines drew with growing intensity outward, stopping just short of books laying just outside. Inside the ring, a smaller, dark-brown ring stained in the wood shone against the lights overhead.

The boy twitched, shifted and groaned before burying his head in his arms further.

{James : Louis’ Heart : Cornerstone of Death -> Traitor’s Tower}

James gave his allies a small, hopefully, reassuring smile as they started on their path towards Traitor’s Tower. The corsair wished that he had some kind of idea as to what to expect. However, there was no way of knowing, no way of even predicting what trial awaited their group. Why Mizu had chosen this one was a bit beyond him. However, it was too late to refute, too late to choose another. Hexagun firmly in hand he assumed the position that Mizu had ordered without thinking about it. It was logical for the two ranged people to take the rear to provide cover fire from the back, but also to watch their backs.

His grip tightened on his hexagun as they proceeded towards the door to the tower. His head on a swivel, watching all sides and being sure to turn and look behind them as they continued, ready for any action that might arise. Traitor had never been a fun topic for the corsair. Despite it being Ajora who controlled him he had betrayed the group, attacked them, primarily Dawn who was with them. It was not a concept he wanted to think about again.

{{Cue:Whatsoever A Man Soweth…}}

He shook his head, trying to stop focusing on all of that and focus on the moment, the situation they were about to launch themselves into. He stopped before the macabre door just as the others did and read the text upon the door, cryptic and ominous just as everything else had been during this situation, unsure of the real meaning behind the words they had no choice but to continue to proceed as the double doors opened.

The space that they entered was dark, aside from the circular platform they stood on which was barely lit he couldn’t see anything beyond the roiling mist, and the darkness beyond even with his enhanced sight. The mist was eerily reminiscent of the phenomenon from Final Fantasy XII, and the corsair doubted that was by coincidence. He stood there for a minute fruitlessly peering into the mist. A sudden booming base tone emitted, causing the corsair to focus as the voice spoke. The corsair focused on the words, trying to understand their meaning fully, clearly. What it was that had to be done. A sudden bright flash revealed a platform a ways off covered by people, seemingly of Narnia and the truth was revealed… They had to choose. Either sacrifice all of them to progress, or sacrifice one of themselves to save them.

”This is just like before… It has to be. An illusion, all of them,” He stated, though he was clearly unsure, hesitant… ”But if they are not…,” That doubt and the unfinished statement were surely clear to all of them.

’We have no way of knowing if they are illusory.’ He thought to himself trying to figure out the situation, thinking it through. ’If they are real and we let them die, then we could very well be killing every single Narnian who we came here to save from Louis’ spell. Everyone who has been trapped within it. I need to see what the others think… However, in terms of who I like least of the group it’s definitely Nick. However, tactically he is not the best choice. We can’t just make this decision based off of friendship.’

[Dawn : Louis' Heart : Tower of Traitor]

Dawn jumped when the lone voice echoed through the tower. She eyed the area as if trying to find where it was coming from. She caught the flash of light. Dawn had to look away and shield her eyes in order to adjust to the sudden change in the lighting. She eyed the people questioningly, and let out a sharp breath with the voice gave it's order.

"The illusions are over James, remember," Dawn said her eyes never leaving the group of Narnians, "Those ended with the Liar. They could be here just as easily we are...."

Dawn paused as she felt tears build in her eyes. She couldn't give up the others, not even Nick, to this kind of sacrifice. Who was she to say that the others were more important than these people.

'I can't do it. I would rather die myself it meant to save these people and my friends.'

Though the thought raced through her head, she held her tongue, despite her body shaking slightly.

[[James, Dawn : Traitor's Tower]]

-It’s definitely Nick. However, tactically he is not the best choice, as his thoughts occupied his mind, before he knew it, James had shifted. His gun already having been drawn before entering swiveled around slowly, the beat of the slow resounding base throbbed in their ears like blood rushing to their heads... a heavy heartbeat, We can’t just make this decision based off of friendship, with an almost ghostly subtlety before he noticed it was aimed at Dawn, finger tight on the trigger, I would rather die myself.

[Dani :~: Louis’ Heart:~:Throne Room > Tower of Traitor]

Dani smiled as Bobbi agreed to joining her group, but was completely not expecting the repercussions of her actions. She was now stuck in a group with James and Dawn, who she did not know well. On top of everything she had Nich who was half of a train wreck, and Riku who was at one point a king of darkness in her book.

When Bobbi was giving out the orders Dani’s face further contorted. “Does she not see what I can do?” Dani rubbed her temples thinking to herself as she moved with the group towards the tower. “I am not here to play a babysitting job. I don’t remember assassins being in plain sight and having to bodyguard a healer. This is not going to end well.”

Dani moved silently with the rest of the group through the Traitor door. Before she had time to think she silently panicked over the darkness and mist before getting used to the platform. “No time to panic.” Dani thought as she listened to the voice talking about choice.

“Choice?” Dani thought to herself. “Oh great MORE choices.” Dani continued to stand off to the side just waiting silently before her eyes locked onto James, who at this point had moved to point his gun at Dawn.

Water ran down her arms fast as her chakrams were summoned at the same time. “Are you BOTH SERIOUS!” Dani shouted as the water from her arms started to hit the platform and spread. “James. Put the gun down… NOW. Dawn. You are not thinking. You would sacrifice one of us for 1000 people you do not even know? It could very well just be another illusion. We need to protect what we have at the moment. Not go sacrificing ourselves for others. This is not productive.” “I swear to god…” Dani thought to herself. "Do not lose yourself already."

Joe : Outsider Tower of Prisoner > Tower of Prisoner

Pre-Entry

"Not a person so much as a place"
Joe responded "'Lethe' is a river that flows through the underworld. It might have featured in that story Nemesis was tormenting us with too. I forget what was so special about it though."

'Something about memories, maybe...?'
he thought.

'You're wasting time.' Atomos blared 'Analyzing what he can and can't do based on his poetry is is superfluous. If he is really is less then this Liar you bested earlier, then he is nothing.'

Joe sighed. As much of an a** as his summon was, he had a point. He was over-thinking this.

He turned to his companions as they continued to discuss things. "You're probably right. This entire situation feels like a cocktail of bad choices and dark magic. Between the cursed geography, Mateus, Louis's instability, and who knows what else, the loon probably pushed his heart beyond the threshold."

"As for corridors, I agree with the other two. We don't know what is going on out there or who's watching us, dark gods or the usual crowd. I'd avoid using them unless it's a last, last resort."

"Now if you all are ready, let's get going. I'd like to be out of here sooner rather then later."

Post-Entry

Joe felt a chill go up his spine as he entered the tower. Oh yes, he remembered this place. He didn't spend much time here before, but nothing about that hour of his life was fading away any time soon.

Admittedly, he had no idea why someone who through out references to the Divine Comedy would consider a library of all things a prison cell. An admittedly very nice library by the look of it.

At least Atomos was enjoying himself.

'At last, a true construction worthy of a boundless mind. I hunger for this knowledge. Crave it. It sings the dulcet tones of knowing.'

Curious himself, Joe pointed to one of the more disorganized book shelves and used a gravity cantrip to grab one of the smaller books. Opening it, he was immediately disappointed.

"Blank."
he grunted. Because of course they were.

'WHAT!? Who dares mock Atomos, The Consuming Gateway, with such a perfidious display!? I will crush this fool's bones and immolate his flesh in eldritch fire!'

'Well, you might get your chance sooner then you think.' Joe responded, as he saw the figure in the distance.

This wasn't quite what Joe was expecting. Liar and Nemesis were nothing but bombast and cruelty. This one was, at first glance, more pitiable then anything else. Completely chained up, body slumped defeated on the desk. He looked harmless, but if Joe had learned one thing from this debacle, it was to not take things at face value.

Slowly, he approached ahead of the others, charging a reflect spell and stayinga good ways away from the chained man in case he turned hostile.

"Prisoner. I presume?" he said to the chained man"Interesting concept for a prison you've made up. Didn't think this would be your idea of purgatory."

[ Sayrike & Sora : Louis' Heart : Prisoner's Purgatory ]

As they suddenly transitioned into the middle of a library, the slowly began to make their way forward, noting the same things Joe pointed out--empty books. Endless stacks and shelves of empty books.

"This isn't a prison, but..." Sora murmured, scratching his head as they moved forward.

"Depends on your perspective," Sayrike responded, thinking back to the illusion. "If all you wanted was to read, whether for pleasure or knowledge, imagine being trapped in here."

"... esh..."

They kept moving forward, and Sayrike refused to dismiss her hovering mirrors, though she kept the largest one behind her to allow her better vision. As they approached the center and spotted a boy, she tensed... but began to notice the details. The closer they got, the more it sank in.

"Seems you were right," he muttered as they approached the splintered line. They didn't move past it; it was clear even to Sora that it was a boundary, the farthest the shard's chains would allow him to go.

When Joe spoke up, though, Sayrike added her own thoughts. "I think Liar was the one that locked him away. Can't imagine anyone would willingly shackle themselves..." she looked to the record player that only produced static, and the empty book. "Especially not to this."
