Joe : Louis' Heart : Four Towers > Outside Prisoner's Tower

Joe silently waved goodbye to Zell before beginning to move southwest. On the one hand, he would miss the extra support. On the other, tonight was enough of a headache as it was and he didn't have anything to dull the pain of Zell's presence. It evened out.

He then turned to Sora as he went. Joe was honored to be working alongside the Keyblade-weilding hero, but oh how he did not envy his naivete.

"Even if he is actually chained up somewhere inside, that's not what worries me." he said as he walked towards the tower "Sayrike excluded, you all missed the 'fun' of Liar's spectacle of an illusion. He put us through hell, made us watch death after needless death, screwed with our memories, and forced us into an...uncomfortable situation with our loved ones."

He clenched his first hard, the memory of his mother's body still seared into his mind.

"It was sadistic, plain and simple. I don't exactly have high hopes that any of the other shards will be much better. Even if Prisoner isn't as strong as Liar, and that is a big if because I don't trust that poetry-spewing nut at all, I'm still not looking forward to yet another one of these freaks potentiality playing havoc with my mind."

Joe shrugged as he continued up the path. "That being said, we've got decent odds. Between the five of us, we've got enough experience with mind control and memory manipulation to fill a textbook. That should help us get past whatever 'Prisoner' has waiting Plus, locks are a non-issue."

As he got closer to the tower, Joe focused in on the gravestones around the around it, trying to see if the writing on it actually meant anything. It might be nothing, but it never hurt to look.

[Dawn : Louis' Heart : Outside Tower of the Traitor]

Dawn resolved herself to allow Bobbi drag her to the tower. She didn't object or fight after her wish to remain was denied. She was needed here after all. Even though she felt that it would of been better to leave her behind. It was not her decision to make. Dawn already let the group down a few times during the course of this mission. She didn't want to do it again. The concern and mothering coming through Bobbi was not helping her feel any better. It didn't help ease the drained state she felt. However, Dawn knew she had no one to blame for it but herself. If she didn't hide behind Garuda...

The dancer let out a soft, tired, sigh as they got to the entrance. She eyed the place with a curious expression, but remained silent.

{Demyx, Zell .:. Louis's Heart .:. Cornerstone of Death}

"Bwah?" Demyx spluttered at Melissandra’s question. "Fear? Me? Nah, lady, this is self-preservation. I’m not cut out for the crazy stuff. You run around, and fight, and sweat, and it’s gross, and that just ain’t me. I’d rather just chillax, hang out with some friends, play my sitar a little bit. None of that nasty fighting stuff."

"What he’s saying is," Zell interrupted loudly, arms crossed over his chest and watching the two north groups head into their respective towers, "he’s a lazy, worthless coward." He may have felt slightly guilty for hauling Demyx along, but it wasn’t for Demyx’s sake. He felt bad for bogging down the team with this useless t**t. Honestly, he was kind of disappointed at being asked to miss out on the action again, but at least this time he had something to do. Not that baby-sitting occupied much of his attention, but maybe eventually Demyx would say something and he'd have an excuse to punch the idiot.

Demyx paused for a moment, blinking a little before he waved Zell’s comment off.

"Wow, rude. That’s just, like, your opinion, man. I prefer to play it smart, not hard. I’m not one for the fighting, so I don’t fight. Simple." He shrugged, as if this should be obvious, and Zell rolled his eyes at the Nobody.

{Red XIII, Yuffie .:. Louis's Heart .:. Cornerstone of Death - Group 4}

Nanaki followed along behind Kyle, Yuffie, and Jenny for a moment before he sprinted on ahead to get to the front of the group. He figured his teeth and claws would be of better use up front, and kept a sharp eye out for anything untoward that might spring out at them. Yuffie, meanwhile, ranged to one side, her shuriken out and at the ready so she could attack anything coming from in front or behind the group.

{Bobbi .:. Louis's Heart .:. Cornerstone of Death - Group 1}

Bobbi gave Dawn’s hand a reassuring squeeze, and did her best to smile up at her friend before letting go and summoning Taulmaril to hand. She kept an arrow at the ready, nocked but not drawn, and began layering spells onto the bolt, starting with her Piercing Icicle, followed by Tricky Ricochet. She figured the second one would come in handy inside the tower, where there should be plenty of walls to bounce her arrow off of. Finally, she took time to focus, so she could be ready to place her arrow exactly where she needed it to go.

"Riku, Nick, take point," she said as she prepped, thinking rapidly. Riku would keep Nick in line, and the two brawlers would be the best line of defense for anything attacking head on. Plus, having Nick at the front would, hopefully, prevent him from turning tail and abandoning them."Dawn, in the middle. Kuro, and I will take the back, and provide cover fire. Dani, can you cover the sides? Range between right and left. Your chakrams are perfect for range and melee, I want you protecting Dawn at all times."

She wasn’t sure if she liked the way her heart was pounding. Almost every battle or mission before, the feel of her rapidly beating heart made her feel more alive. Now, though, she just felt… tense. Scared. Completely out of control. Maybe that was why she was giving out orders like she was in charge or something; it at least gave her the illusion of having a handle on the situation.

[[Nemesis : Louis' Heart : Cornerstones of Death]]

Nemesis stood there, waiting. Their back and forth on who would go where had seemingly come to a rest and they were at last settled on going in their separate directions. Though, Nemesis still smiled at them all, in no way pleasingly to them for sure.

"You can trust the fire witch, Melisandre, trust me. Nothing will go wrong with the 3 of us here. No harm will come to the Cowardly Nocturne," Nemesis ended the last bit with a sickeningly sweet giggle and squinty-eyed smile.

[ Sayrike & Sora : Louis' Heart : Approaching Prisoner ]

"Mm," was the only initial sound Sora made, humming in darker contemplation over Joe's explanation of what went down before. Nemesis words shortly before they got out of earshot did little to settle his mood. "I don't trust Nemesis, either--don't think anyone does. And though Justice said no more illusions, which I guess means they think Liar is the only one with that level or type of power... Yeah, the other three seem more genuine, but even if they've been purged of corruption like Kyle says, they may not necessarily know the truth. They seemed pretty surprised about Nemesis."

"I'm more concerned with a more looming threat," Sayrike spoke up, now that it was a smaller group--all of whom, save Axel, she knew would hear her out with patience. Axel just wouldn't--couldn't--care. She was casually glancing at the stones, too, wondering what they might find. But her thoughts were elsewhere, as she said. "Those Heartless that were coming in as we flew over--those were outside the spell. They were real, and they were marching here en masse. While them being offensive and against Louis may have simply been part of the initial illusion..."

"It might not have," Sora finished, staring at the doorway but not really seeing it--he was thinking, Sayrike's concerns washing over him. "Which means the Darkness is trying to take Louis, or destroy him before we save him."

"And that doesn't seem like the type of omnipotent force to throw away useful tools," she said, sighing before turning back to the stones. They couldn't make them out from afar, but what about now?

[ Kyle & Jenny : Louis' Heart : Veering to Victim ]

The group was mostly quiet, it seemed, as they approached the tower. Kyle made sure to let Nanaki pass unhindered, though he felt no immediate threat looming. They approached the door, and like most, he became curious about the frost-covered gravestones, wondering if they might hold any interesting information.

Jenny had been just a few feet behind and to the side of Kyle, following along. She couldn't help but keep her eyes on the dragoon, and once they were out of earshot from the rest, she sighed, approaching him and placing a hand on his arm.

"Kyle," she said, her voice kind but firm. She didn't stop him, but instead kept walking by his side, glancing toward him. "You're not fooling anyone, least of all me. You..."

She let the voice trail, not really sure where to go. He couldn't go back to the train; and asking what was 'wrong' in a situation like this was like making it into a dark comedy, because what wasn't.

What was left of Kyle's faint smile slid away into an expression of distant apathy and contemplation--which, as anyone could guess and as Jenny and some others would know, was anything but apathetic. "I know. It's... he's... I'm just struggling. We thought I would be fine because I was in one piece, but it's just not the case. It's one thing to accept it, it's another thing to have his memories, and a third thing entirely to reconcile the two, and... we just don't have time."

Kyle unintentionally snorted. Jenny smiled and shook her head. But as they neared the door and stopped, the humor faded and he sighed.

"Identity crises on Earth weren't nearly this literal."

"It's okay. I've been listening," she said, squeezing his arm. "Even when you flip, you're still... you. But the dynamics shift pretty dramatically. Hopefully, with some... time..."

This time, they both simply smiled, if only for a moment.

"Yeah. I might end up taking that break after this anyway," he said. "Just hope the others don't hold it against me."

"They'd rather that than a breakdown."

"True!" Kyle said, and slinging one arm around Jenny's shoulder, he gave her a half-hug. "Thanks. Now what say we figure out what's going on with this one. You listen, I'll read."

She nodded, closing her eyes and focusing on the songs around her. She tuned out the more immediately obvious ones, Leon, Yuffie, Nanaki, and Kyle. She didn't tune out the sound of Louis the whole--still trying to figure out the climate, literally--but she did try to focus on the tower in front of her while Kyle knelt down to look at the stones.

[ Riku : Louis' Heart : Toward Traitor ]

Riku frowned at Nemesis' last words. Out of instinctive concern, he sent a message toward Zell and Demyx.

"Melisandre has helped, but as much as I hate to play into his games, Bobbi's right: we don't really know if she's part of his heart or not. If they both turn out bad... just try to make it to one of the towers. Survival is more important than stopping whatever they might try."

When Bobbi gave out the directions, the Keyblader momentarily smirked; she was more naturally bossy than Joe was. Still, with a tap toward Nich and a prodding glance, he moved to the front, approaching the tower and the glittering staircase with his key in hand.

He tried not to think too hard about who they were nearing; more specifically, he tried to distance himself from the concept, cutting out how he felt. That he would end up entering a tower held by an entity named 'Traitor'...

When nothing happened, and they neared the doors, he started looking at the door and then the gravestones, much like everyone else.

[ Matthew : Louis' Heart : Nearing Nightmare ]

As they neared the doors in seeming silence, Matthew began fiddling with his scimitar handle, his expression still hidden behind his Shy Guy mask. Splitting up was such a bad idea, but the choice had been made. He started looking at the gravestones, hoping to distract himself.

"Why does it have to be Nightmare," he groaned, trying to read. "Why does every piece of this guy have to be pompous and melodramatic. Why can I only hold two ethers."

[ Melisandre : Louis' Heart : Core of the Cornerstones ]

"He can't be a coward. He's a Nobody."

Her statement came easily, as if it were common knowledge.

"And he's not worthless. I adore adventure and conquest more than most, but I can understand that not everyone is a born fighter or hunter," she said, defending him, though not necessarily sounding like it; again, only talking as if it were plain conversation. "Besides, you'll earn no favor, nor will you necessarily spur him to improve, by treating him so negatively. He has gifts that should be encouraged."

Nemesis chimed in to the others about then, and she gave him a knowing, but not necessarily intense, stare with narrowed eyes. Sighing, she turned back to the Nobody, still curious.

"But you still do not make sense to me. You cannot feel fear, nor anger, nor guilt--why did you come along, if not to participate? Were you physically forced?" she asked, tilting her head somewhat. "And if self-preservation is what you seek, why do you not strive to aid your allies all the more intently? Without them, survival will have much more of your own running around, fighting, and sweating."

[Joseph: Louis' Heart: Outside Nightmare]

The male stopped in front of the tower, staring up at it. He was ignoring Nemesis, too. Mainly because all the guy was doing was attempting to rile people up and making weird laughs.

Instead, he focused on Mathy's words, shrugging at them.

"Because a niightmare we can fight. And it sounds the worst but I'd rather deal with it than a victim, a prisoner, or a traitor, and whatever powers they might have." He let out a small sigh.

"I'd rather not talk about the pieces. Because, well frankly, none of them are living up to their 'names' but that's beside the point. No idea on the ethers, I'll use mine on others, though. I'm more physical, anyway." He sniffed at the end, rubbing his nose carefully with his thumb as he kept on focusing.

This tower wasn't going to be fun. None of them probably were.

[[Narration - Words of Parting]]

[[Cue: SHI-KI from Shiki]]

With nothing more to say, the groups departed, climbing their designated pathways of prismatic stone to the plateau and doorways surrounded by gravestones. Every step closer to these skyscrapers of flesh and stone grew colder. The looming monoliths radiated a dread and bleed an empty aching emotion.

Upon closer inspection of the gravestones, they did not list names but rather read off varying incomprehensible words with exception to those with a particular knowledge set.

However, over the double-door archways there did stand out glowing words that grew in intensity with each step closer to them. Each door read something differently.

On the southeast tower: 'Behold the 4th dam. The trials by fire lead you to a cool, collected calm. Icy blood numbs the nerves, but open wounds still bleed. Breach the gates at your own discretion, blood spilled stains the hands of the guilty,' upon the gravestone closest to the door, a rosary cross stood a single word, 'Elysium.'

To the northwest: 'Behold the 5th dam. Screams of the damned sunk to the depths in the name of justice cry for mercy. Blind is your righteous fury, and in blindness you rip and gouge into the wretched and deserving. Breach the gates at your own digression, blood spilled stains the hands of the guilty,' upon the tombstone like the ornate entrance to a mausoleum the word, 'Styx.'

Before the group approaching the tower in the northeast: 'Behold the 6th dam. Fear of the unknown approaching the day of judgement lights a fire within souls abandoned by passion. Hopeless and fearful, one flails in place seeking succor freeing oneself of naught but ones senses. Breach the gates at your own discretion, blood spilled stains the hands of the guilty,' and at their feet upon an angled slab, 'Pyriphlegethon.'

And at last, to the southwest: 'Behold the 7th dam. Chained, blinded, and gagged, the guilty are pressed from the sight of the holy, untouched, and righteous. Stripped of opportunity, offered none but the guillotine or the sword, the judged weep without a sound. Breach the gates at your own discretion, blood spilled stains the hands of the guilty,' a simple, slab of marble with a rounded top stood to the side reading the word, 'Lethe.'

The groups had arrived, their hearts more or less resolute, the words of warning on their minds as the doors parted... darkness within, awaits.

[John .: Louis’ Heart :. Outside Nightmare]

John stopped with Joe and looked up to the tower.

”Really needs some redecorating, eh?” John retorted referencing the organ covered tower. ”I expect he’s gonna wanna put us to sleep…”

John hesitantly walked forward and looked at the message above the door. Not entirely sure what the word "succor" meant, he assumed it was ominous and turned his head toward the organ covered door. He did a quick inhale and quickly pushed it open, getting some unknown gooey fluid on his hands. The door pushed open rather easily.

”Welp we ain’t gettin any younger out here! Time to ******** those dreams!” he hollered, waving a hand over his head that was covered in the fluids from the organ covered door."Let's seek some succor or something!"

[Amy : Narnia / Louis's Heart : Outside Nightmare ]

"Right," Amy said, "Let's do this." Maybe they would accomplish something this time, instead of being put through a bunch of nonsense without anything to show for it.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 27, 2015 6:15 pm

Joe : Louis's Heart : Outside Prisoner's Tower

"Right" he said, responding to the Keyblader "Louis is so broken apart, no one piece really knows what the others are doing. Trust issues aside, there's no way we can get a full picture from any one of them."

His attention turned to Sayrike and her thoughts on the Heartless. Now that she mentioned it, that was something that they were going to have to worry about sooner or later.

"I'd say there are two options and neither are particularly good. Either the heartless are operating on instinct and going after this like blood in the water, or they're being directed by one of our many enemies. Whichever it is, considering how powerful and broken up his heart is, it's only a matter of time before they descend on this place like piranhas on meat."

With that Joe turned his attention back to the gravestones. Disappointingly, all but one of them were completely incomprehensible. The archway however, could be read.

And as soon as Joe finished reading it, his face met his palm.

"OK..."
he groaned, massaging his temples "I am convinced that the grand unifying trait connecting all of these shards is unbearable pretentiousness."

He pointed to the marble slab "I mean, really? It's not enough for one of them to chant the Divine Comedy at us, now another has to throw in the Greek underworld?"

[[Minor Narraion]]

When once there was a presence of something in Kyle's breast pocket, the next moment there was not. Remaining as little more than golden flecks, the object resting by his chest vanished. Where it had gone or if it had gone anywhere at all was unknown.
PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2015 12:26 am

[Kyla: Louis Heart: throne Room > Nightmare tower]

And so it was decided they had to split up. The group devolved into picking their teams in a scattered pattern and Kyla remained quiet. The situation playing out like an old childhood trope where she’d be picked last. She was always that kid and much to her relief, Joe voiced the obvious ridiculousness of it all- this wasn’t about picking friends or buddies, this was about deciding smartly which tactical teams could group up and handle a particular situation. This was the perfect reason why a leader was necessary, and to her relief Joseph stepped up to the plate and wasted no time organizing things as they should be.

But then Dawn wanted to stay-

Yah, that wasn’t going to happen.
The people she expected stepped up to the plate. The enchantress showed no real care for the situation, so her vouching to remain didn’t surprise her. Though Auron, when he spoke up, the artist felt a bit stupid she forgot the man was there… but still it was another solid choice. Then there was Demyx. Again, not surprising he asked to remain, but surprising it was finally allowed.
John suggested nightmare- and to this Kyla voiced now objection, only looked at the people allotted with her who remained with the non-plus of Demyx. Mathew- Joseph, and Amy.
Together with John that made five of them in all.

Standing in the shadow of Nightmare, feeling the cool press in upon her Kyla just stared blankly back at it, while Dawn continued to protest her desire to remain with Nemesis. While she understood her reasoning, she too agreed with the rest of the group this time, tough she voiced no opinion either way. What remained to be said was said well enough-

She took solace in being one of the least talkative.. it gave her mind time to buff what latest changes and morphing this environment decided to assail them with. Joseph suggested Nightmare as well and when asking if they objected he at least got a shake of her head.

Nope. Nightmare was fine.

[Axel: Louis’ Heart: Marching to Prisoner Tower]

“Nope! That’s bull! He’s a bull-a**-coward, you got him right Lady!” came the teasing remark of the dancing flame user walking off with his group. He of course had no objections aside from the more obvious one- this ALL SUCKED. You couldn’t BRAND this situation with trap more obvious if you tattooed it one everyone’s forehead- FODDER. But hell, they really didn’t have a choice. So even if he truly felt irritated, there would be no helping. So he saved himself the trouble and didn’t invest in imitation-

Making a snort at Sora’s suggestion he had to respond- “since when has this EVER been given to us on a silver platter? Meh... doesn’t bother me. Death isn’t that all what’s it’s cracked up to be.” He waved goodbye to Zell and the cowering bard- “Play nice you too! If you’re good I’ll see if I can bring back something. You do whatever Zell tells you Demyx.”
Walking in stride beside Sora Axel stretched his arms above his head, waiting for that nice little CREEK he’d feel, loosened up and summoned his Chakram. Might as well no mince words.

Sayrike had a point about the heartless outside. “Welp, not sure if it’s any conciliation but I can trrryyyyyy and get us out if push comes to shove, but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. Besides, maybe they’ll lose interest if we sort this nut job out. Not much to feed off of if we root out the darkness, right?”

That’s assuming anything that Nemesis said was true.
He blew a sigh and rolled his eye upwards, and then forwards again.

‘Wouldn’t be the first time I did that.’ He thought.

“Still, it’s pretty mind-blowing if you think about it. Just one of these earth-guys can do all of this?? Only a shy week of arriving here too no less? Do yah’ think you’re all capable of causing such drama of epic magical proportions? No wonder you’re all smack in the middle of this mess. “

[Kyla: Louis’ Heart: On the Steps of Nightmare]
SHIKI - Requiem
‘…this is nothing we’ve not encountered and entered before.’
Kyla’s response was over the charms. Again, she was oddly choosing to use the lines of metaphysical communication. The choice becoming more and more default. She directed her response to those of her team when Mathew rambled on about the choice they had, approaching nightmare.
Nightmares.

This whole experience could be allotted to be one giant ******** nightmare. From the moment they lost their home, to having to relieve that loss and all the hellish visions they’ve experienced since then. Just one…long…never ending nightmare. Surely they’d become used to it by now right?

‘..still.. it poses the question, if we become used to Louis’ apparitions, will this shard have the ability to delve into what rattles us instead?’

~Perhaps, but if we keep your chins up- stick together- We’ll brave this haunted house- and it may not be so bad-~ Her summon interjected, her cheerful optimism like a breath of fresh air from the artists monotone telepathic messaging. Whether or not it was because Kyla felt the need to allow Carbuncle to interject or she did it on her own without thinking was anyone’s guess.

As they passed the tomestones… Kyla understood them.

‘- to think… I once thought getting the divine comedy from my Dad was a bit of a joke gift … ‘ she still recalled her feleing when she and her brothe ropened the christmas present addressed ot them both. The disguizing soft pastel cream colored cover, beneath a brown golden edge emboidered covers. Gold tipped pages. The Divine Comedy.
Elle was obessed with The Devil May Cry series, and he talked about it constantly. to the point she supposed as a joke rebuttal to the mythos used in his favorite books and games, their father decided to give them a copy of the course material.
She remembered the wry smile and confounded look on her face-. She loved books. But the Divine Comedy was the LAST thing she ever thought she'd read during the holidays. She didn't, but eventually cracked the pages come spring out of curiousity.

‘Pyriphlegethon… the flaming, or, Fire flaming. It’s the name of a river in the underworld. It’s a river of blood where murdered boils and drowned at depth depending on their level of crimes of violence. Not sure if we’re going to see a literal river.. also, might be a possible clue as to what waits for us inside.
There’s some kind of creatures that guard this seventh circle. Archers. I… mmm need to think.. of what they were exactly.”
Go figure...
A book she NEVER thought she'd think she'd benifit fomr reading, came back to haunt her in the MOST literal sense imaginable.
Jeez.... this was NOT going to be fun.

[[Nemesis : Louis' Heart : Cornerstones of Death]]

[[Still Cue: SHI-KI from Shiki]]

As the groups stepped into their respective doorways, Nemesis let out a sigh and turned away from the others. He made his way to the throne and after moving his jacket to the arm, sat down, magic still intertwined between his limbs and whatever surface he touched.

"And so they go..." Nemesis mused, closing his eyes. In his mind, he pictured the groups, one by one climbing the towers and going deeper into a cold, unforgiving darkness. He pictured Joseph, Kyla, Amy, John, and Mathy, stepping into a space that pulled them forward throwing them into a pitch black that careened into the depths encased in colorless flames, "To where do they go I wonder?" He pictured Riku, Bobbi, James, Dawn, Dani & Nick stepping forth into a room chaotic and unstable magic mist whipping back and forth with an untamed fury before all calmed as they reached the center of the dark circular space, "Do they march to the horns of salvation-" Flickers of Kyle, Yuffie, Nanaki, Jenny, and Leon all stepping forth into an empty corridor lined with handrails with a single door on the side along a path the never seemed to end in either direction, "-or the drums of damnation?" And at last Joe, Sayrike, Axel, Sora, and Auron found themselves standing amidst towers of bookshelves like skyscrapers at each side, though out of reach as the path they stood on was naught but a thin strip of hardwood flooring, "How, I wonder, will their unique experiences effect them? They go to the deepest reaches of Louis' soul and face what makes him what many don't wish to acknowledge."

Nemesis opened his eyes and looked at those who stood before him, "How will it change them? Will it change them at all? Will it spur on their crusade of justice-" flashes in his mind of Kyle's shard sticking close to his partner's shoulder, "-or feed the flames of Vengeance?"

"Will their esteem hold up against this trial," fading apparitions of Kyla floated through his mind, "Or will they lose faith in themselves?"

"And the sliver of innocence they hold on to, the dim light of hope to reward their efforts," Bobbi and her shard came to mind this time, "How will that hold up in the face of adversity? Can one maintain child-like innocence in the face of such a dark task?"

Nemesis placed his jaw on a loosely closed fist as he leaned to the side, there was a long drawn out pause as a bit of breeze swept over the floating platform lightly brushing the hair from the boy's face as he contemplated his own questions before shaking his head gently, "Eh, no use trying to guess or wonder... we have a bit of time before we find out the results of their individual ventures. What do you say we get better acquainted in the meantime, Miss Melisandre? I can't say I recognize you from any memories I possess. Let's start with an obvious question, if not to help these idiots in a joint cause to stop Louis' plans... what ARE you here for? What spark of madness lights the candle to your quest?"

((DM Note: More detailed descriptions for each individual group coming, they'll be a bit delayed but I just wanted to get this one out there to help things along.))

[[Tower of Nightmare]]

[[Cue: Satori Maiden and Heartfelt Fancy (Piano) by Yurika Ohishi]]

So they fell, Kyla, Joseph, Amy, John and Matthew. In darkness, deep, secluding darkness where all sense of self and feeling vanished into the nothingness of the abyss. It felt like a long time before they woke, though perhaps it had only been seconds.

Mathy, the first to awaken to himself once more, found himself laying in what felt like a bed. Soft blankets like silk rubbed against his arms as he might attempt to look around but saw nothing. It was peacefully quiet at least... peaceful, but... something was wrong. There was a tickle at the back of his neck, then again on his arms and legs. Something small wriggled around him. At that point, as he may shift and go to swat at the irritants... he'd notice. Thud.

Thud. Thud. Thud. Attempting to move, would insight the realization, this way, that way, up and down... his limbs ran into walls. With just enough room to uncomfortably scratch his chin... he was trapped. Trapped in a small, human shaped box filled with delicate silks... like a coffin decorated for the dead.

Meanwhile... Kyla, falling into the abyss, she settled down upon invisible waters, floating there, her face to the empty black sky. Around her, nothing. Below her, nothing. Above her, nothing. There, suspended in the black sea, darkness. Endless, deep darkness.

John, after falling some distance came to a stop, colliding hard against a floor. His impact spread light out in a sphere as it engulfed his surroundings. There, he discovered, before him... nothing. White. In all directions, nothing. No sky. No floor. No anything, just a lonely, sickly white. He'd just been with his friends, hadn't he? Where did they go? Why was he suddenly alone? A creeping suspicion and fear tickled at the back of his mind.

At last, Joseph's eyes opened. A deep breath entering his lungs, he was in a dim, circular, cobblestone room. He was laying on the ground, his back had a dull ache like he'd been sleeping wrong or took a blow to the back. As his eye might focus on the room as he attempted to remember where he'd been before this, a loud ear shattering blast echoed within the chamber, a flash blinded him for a moment.

As focus returned, he saw Amy, standing in the middle of the room, in her hand, a single pistol of her own make glowed red hot with smoke rising from the barrel, aimed down as she stood over Matthew who was kneeling before her. He could see his mask and the scorch-mark on its forehead as the boy fell backwards and collapsed to the floor. Amy's eyes glowed deep red, "If only you hadn't made that mistake, Joseph. You were our leader... we trusted you. You said it would be okay, but look how things turned out. If we just hadn't listened to you... if we'd just gone with our original plan we all could have made it out alive. This is your fault."

As the words finished leaving her mouth, Amy awoke and her eyes returned to the proper color. She stood there, perhaps bewildered, perhaps shocked, but she stood there looking across at Joe's expression feeling the heat of the smoke of her barrel brushing against her cheek as it waved in the air around her. Where was she? What had she been doing? Should she look down, she'd see her gun smoldering, Matthew's body splayed out before her with a smoking circle on his mask along with John and Kyla motionless in the corner of her vision. Had she done this? What happened? Had she... betrayed her comrades- her friends? Had she become a monster like the one they'd sworn to defeat?
