"I see," he said back, nodding at Nariana.
Waffle nudged him again, but not nearly as hard. "Yeah, a lot of new people showed up since the last time you saw me and the rest of the crew. Some left before you had the chance to say hi, and we also have a lot more mages than we ever had."
"I can see you said that last bit with a little grudge. You jealous of them or something?"
Waffle playfully fake-slapped her father. "No."
"Sure you aren't," he said back and winked. He dropped the playfulness quickly and got serious. "But that does remind me of something."
"What?"
"Remember that portal in your room? You need to tell Sabe some time later to dismantle it. I'm disconnecting the link to the one in the castle within a few weeks and making an official portal link to Gaia."
"Why?" Waffle asked, stunned by the idea.
"Well...a few reasons, really. It's a security measure for both us and your crew and makes it easier for everyone to travel back and forth. Also, don't you hate it when people randomly bust into your room?"
"Where do you plan on putting the two portals, then?"
"Uh...one's gonna be at the embassy south of here in the fourth section, and I'm not sure where the other one's going. That's why I just told you to tell Sabe all of this. I want him to take it apart, get the power core out of it, and see where he can set up a new, bigger one."
"Fine," Waffle said, rolling her eyes, "I'll tell him all of that later tonight."
"No, don't stress him out like that. Tell him when he doesn't have a lot on his mind, but some time within 4 weeks, alright?"

Koteki could hear his name being called out and turned to see who it was. He turned back to the group and bid goodbye for now, then left.

"Sorry about that. My dad can get chatty," Waffle said, turning back to the others.

Nari chuckled and said, "Oh, no problem at all. He seems charming enough. A bit of relief from the execs I normally have to deal with at my other job...ugh. But anyway, about the portal chat. If I heard correctly, we'll be able to travel back and forth from here to HQ all the time?"

Luciano was afraid someone would bring it up; He kept forgetting to get the group together so he could tell them himself about the whereabouts of their leader, but it slipped his mind. Luciano clenched his jaw a bit, pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and he said, "Well, um. . .,-" He folded his hands, "- Babe!! They have those chocolate-filled Croissants that you like!!" Luciano quickly looked up at Michelle, "Really, now? Well, I'm going to have to go get some really quick!- Sabe, excuse me for a moment!" Luciano stood up, and Michelle guided him to where the food was.

Sabe sunk back into his seat. Well, that was rude.

Waffle tried to imagine a network of portals and how that would work, but it quickly got too complex for her. "No, I think it'll just be one portal in Gaia and one here. This kingdom's way too small to have a network, and we can't link one portal to more than one in a different location. It would just clog up traffic at the one here."

"Probably not, because there might not even be any need for it. I sure wouldn't know though," Waffle said as she reached for a glass of sweet tea. "To be honest, I haven't done anything related to this kingdom yet. I have a feeling that'll be more up Sabe's alley than mine."

"Uh...I dunno. Let me see,"
Waffle tipped her chair back until she could see Sabe sitting at the same table as before.
"Over there," she said, pointing toward it, "Should I drag him over here?"

"Yeah, can't let guy get lonely on his wedding day." Pen gave a chuckle and her usual smile. Taking another chance at her drink she didn't wince as much this time.
