IIRC, this is how it went:
Julian Kintobor of the House of Ivo is in an accident involving rotten eggs, and that reverses his personality from a kind man into a diabolical villain, and his name.
Kintobor - Robotnik
Either Sonic had something to do with the accident, or he's just annoying, which causes Robotnik's hatred of him.
