Aly glance up at Louie before turning her attention back to the glass. A slight turn in the light and the fragment ice pieces shone out with different colors, it would have been interesting to see if she wasn't busy trying to figure a way to destroy them. "It touch, admitted quietly turning the glass and frozen prism this way and take. "You see, I chilled it with my affinity. An ice affinity...is rather one side in use. Freezing take a certain kinda energy as does melting. Sadly they are not the same kind of energy. I could heat it using a heat rune, charm, or even spell...I guess. However I'd risk breaking the glass.
She allowed her words to trail off, as her eyes flicked over to a guy she was sure she was boring. Rambling, rambling about something as boring as magical practice and application was one thing that was sure to bore the man. Worst, was that she hadn't even started on all of that information overload, yet. Once, again my social skills fall far too short.

"They are right Waffle. Your look amazing so don't worry about it." Though Pen could relate to the hesitation and uncomfortably of wearing a dress she was being very honest.
"Now what do you think of your Groom, Waffle? I could see he was a bit nervous back there."

Louie nodded along as she spoke, genuinely interested. "That's pretty cool. I was never taught any of the magical arts really. I mean, I know some of the basic stuff but not enough to use my energy to freeze something. I can recognize some of the most common runes like the one used to shield but like I said...that's it." He laughed and licked his lips. โIโm a weapons man. Thatโs what I was trained to do. Like you I wasnโt really given a choice if I wanted to join up or not. My family decided for me. I donโt mind but it would have been nice to have been given a choice.โ

"Well I'll just take your word for it, then," Waffle said. They're all bad at lying. Sometimes it's a good thing.
"I find it funny how everybody's making a huge deal out of my marriage, though. Sabe might have been nervous, over what I have no idea, but acting like a chicken with its head cut off took it too far. I mean, I didn't do anything to scare him. Enlighten me if I did."
Sabe looked up at Luciano. "It's fine..." he trailed off as he saw Waffle and most of the other girls all at one table. "I'm surprised people can still find their friends around here, and I'm not sure why they invite so many people. It's hell for the ones that actually work here."

"Well marriage is scary enough without your bride charging an electrical current next to him. He is also a natural scardey cat so that just added to it. Really the guy is just a bundle of nerves." Pen finished with taking a swig of the drink in front of her. She winced at the taste though and placed the glass back on the table.

Aly listened interested in his supposed pre-foreseen life. She had always been taught that what she decide to with her life was her own choose, however that she should keep in mind the position of her family and bring honor and respect in what field she choose to the family name.
The speech was different depending on who was giving it, but it all boiled down to the same. Freedom, so long as it aids the family.
Here was life made before an idea of any other sort of life could take hold. However instead of saying this, she stated as she glanced down at the frozen glass, which was now giving off cold vapors,"Magical studies aren't hard, or at least they're not to me. I was trained in them, as I trained my younger sister Ned. It mandatory for any Crescent...since we do make magical items and weapons to learn the basics as well as tape into your affinity."
She looked at him, if she wanted she could try to see if he had a strong presences of an affinity, but decide against it since the action made her eyes glow. Something she hated with a loathing that would surprise most, "I was taught that every elf had an affinity...and merely need to unlock it to access it. Other magical fields, in our case, is rather easy to access without having an affinity. Runes spells for one draws on a mix of personal and...I'm sure I'm boring you.

Nari nodded and said, "The guy looked a bit scared for his life when that electric current came after him. I can't blame him... Maybe you could hold off on that, Waffle. Give him a chance to relax a bit and help him enjoy the rest of this big day."

Louie looked at her with a small smile of amusement, "You are not boring me, Miss Aly I promise.[/color=darkred]" He leaned forward and propped his elbow up on the table. "Besides, if you where I would have excused myself from the table already. I find magic really interesting actually. How do you tell what your affinity is? Is it something your energy does when you perfothing like that?"

Luciano smiled and he nodded at Sabe, "Yeah, it reminds me a lot of the parties some of my family members throw. They invite anybody who is anybody, and if you manage to find some of your real friends, then it's a miracle."

Aly felt a smile appear on her face before she went into teaching mode and began to expalin, "Affinities are defined as an internal energy that come naturally to magical body. For example, if you wanted to freeze the glass."
She pointed to the glass saying, "You would need to cast a spell, chant, or use some form of eternal energy to freeze the glass itself. I, on the other hand, don't need any of that. I can at whim freeze anything I see fit, it will simply require my focus and my personal energy. However, I can not step out of my affinity, I'm unable to unfreeze the glass since it would require a different form of energy. Thus I need to cast a spell or some other form of magical art to unfreeze the glass."
She tapped the glass in question before leaning back with a sigh. At first she hesitated, then sighed and said, "As for define you're personal affinity its different for each magical creature. Dragon's tend to stick to flame or heat, while elves are trickery. For instance, my younger sister has pressure as her affinity, yet I have ice or rather cooling as my affinity. At the same time my mother also has an ice affinity. So it varies. In the end, it comes down to the environment of your birth, the state of your mother at the time, as well as what your drawn too. I was born in the winter, my mother was enjoying the cold weather and I like ice cream and other cooled treats. There is a test, which not only helps define your affinity, but also unlock it. While every magical creature worth it salt has a magical aura, not all have affinities. While every elf has magic, as you've seen, not everyone uses magic. Thus, it stands to reason that not everyone has access to they're affinity. It has to be unlocked, learned, and trained before you do anything with it. That in my case took about 5 month to unlock and learn, my sisters averaged about 8 months. So it isn't very hard, it just takes concentration and focus."
Finished she glanced down at her glass, which had began to show small wisp of smoke as the chilled glass began to defrost. Sighing, she glanced over Louie, "That was rather longwinded. I hope I didn't loss you anywhere in there.

(( @ Aly: So? I liked that megapost. Is it talking about that system of magic you mentioned a good number of months ago?))
"See, I think that a lot of people around here are hostile to me. If they didn't care that I was here, then I wouldn't care about them either, but no~... they sit at their tables and whisper with their friends like secondary school kids, over what I have no idea," Sabe rambled, "I can't bring myself to trust that."
"...but whatever..." he said, defeated.
Colbur came back to the table and switched seats with his husband, who had plans to pester his daughter anyway. He looked exhausted and none too pleased from his workload. Waffle Aramine looked up at him. "Didja get anything out of them, or did they all stay hushed?" she asked. They were handling an interrogation of the snipers that wreaked havoc earlier. Colbur sighed before saying something back. "I don't think so, no. They said that they were following orders, but when I ask from who and why, they stay quiet. Other questions didn't yield anything either..." The security captain was not too far from slamming her arm onto the table. "Seriously? Couldn't you have just scared the hell out of them for answers instead of giving up?" "I'm a king, not an interrogator. Do you want to try?" "Hell no. I'd just kill them all, 'cause I sure don't care." "I didn't think so. I have them detained still, until we can get someone else to ask questions. Unlike your moping self, I'm going to choose to relax for the next few days. You go ahead and do whatever, too." Their exchange went on for a while longer until one of them stopped talking altogether.
Meanwhile, Waffle gave a thought to what everyone else said until a pair of bony fingers pressed up against the back of her neck. She turned around and was fixing to break them, until she saw who it was. "...sorry," Waffle muttered. "It's fine. I would've done the same thing. S' how are you, aside from all the commotion?" Koteki asked as he gave Waffle a big hug. He noticed all the other people at the table; he knew Pen but none of the others. "I don't know any of you, except for you" he said to them, gesturing to Pen. "Mind telling me who you all are?"

Louie chuckled again, "No you didn't lose me. So say someone wanted to learn their affinity. How would they begin figuring that out? Are there steps to it or is it all just focus?"
Rosemary replied politely to the stranger, "I am Rosemary Underhill, sir."

Waffle elbowed Koteki hard. "Stop being rude and introduce yourself." "Fine," he said, "...and don't do that again."
"Anyway, I'm one of Waffle's parents and also the head of magic R&D around here. That's all you need to know, really. Are you friends of hers?"

Aly looked at him for awhile, a moment she hesitated almost as if she was about to do something. Then she glanced at glass, as she said,"There is a simple test where you line up the most common affinities. Then you, would go over and focus on the element. You focus on changing the matter, so if it its a piece of wood than you can make it grow. If it is fire that you can make it stronger, etc."
She leaned back and stared at the glass, continuing, "If you have a power of it, then you can change it by whim. If you don't have that power than you would need a foci to use that power."
Pausing for breath she looked at him, before saying, "That is all there is for affinities. Once you have it or rather have unlocked it. Than you have to train it, so that you don't loss control of it. My younger sister, is still training her pressure affinity."
