"Two days or so isn't bad," Triton murmured, "That's very good time considering we thought it would be longer."

If they had to stop it wouldn't do them much harm, he thought to himself, and they could portal back from the looks of it, so they should be fine.

But with Nadya not being used to travel or to this kind of weather, it was nearly three days before they actually reached the first of the elven watchtowers. Despite her quiet protests that she could have traveled longer each night, Gion refused to allow her to wear herself out or make herself ill. He made sure she was warm enough at night by giving her both his blanket and hers, as well as making sure she wore her cloak all the time, and sleeping next to her. He made sure she rested as much as she needed, ate when she needed, even if she waasn't hungry, and had lots to drink - but despite all of this, by the end of their second full day of traveling, she was already looking worn down and tired.

He told himself that he wouldn't bug her about it, but he couldn't stop himself from growing more and more worried about her well-being.

Nadya was fully aware of Ginon's concerns, but since there was nothing she could do to make their situation any better, she had no choice but to let him worry. At least, she mused, they were far away from the shrine where they had entered the Northland, and the feeling of evil and dread had left her as well. For that, at least, she was happy - although she would be even happier to be able to sleep in a bed for once, or even in a cot ... whidch reminded her ... they had something to look forward to that night, if all went well and her Sight wasn't deceiving her.

The mist had also dissipated somewhat by the time they had reached their destination, and the weather, though still not sunny, was much better than it had been. It was slightly warmer (though only slightly) and a bit drier, though Nadya suspected that she would feel better if the opportunity came along for her to take a nice warm relaxing bath.

She raised her eyes a little past midday and saw before them two tall towers placed on either side of the path they were following. Through the mist, her Sight showed her the elven soldiers posted in those towers, and despite their forbidding looks she was heartened. It was the first sign of life they had been offered in their entire time up here.

"Look," she murmured, raising her arms to point and show the others. "We're nearly there."

Earendil was still back at the castle, having fun playing with Lin and Nina. He still slipped away every morning without her for his training sessions, still stubbornly refusing to allow her to the top of the mountain which was so dangerous to one her size.

Sir Valdemar was still learning new things from Lin, and still refused to tell her how to get to the top of the mountain, where Earendil did his training. Though to be honest, he was proud of the way Earendil was managing to keep Lin away - he would have thought that the young prince would have given in and told her a long time ago.

It had been a long trek back through the desert for Elrohir, and he arrived back at the castle tired, braindead, and grumpy. He hadn't been impressed to find out that everyone had left without even letting him know two days previous, or that no one could tell him where they had gone, because the horses that they were supposed to take were still in the stables, but their things were gone. The only clue was a mysterious mark that had been left on the door of the carriagehouse - and what was that supposed to mean?

The first thing he did when he got back to the castle was head towards the tower with the stairs to let his grandmother know that he had arrived home safely - and as an afterthought he realized ... it might be a good idea to let her know another of her grandsons was getting married, and without her.

By this time, Lin was comfortable running around the castle when she wasn't playing with Earendil or listening and practicing her characters with Sir Valdemar. Though she still wanted to be at the top of the mountain, but without knwoing where it even was, she couldn't begin to try.

She tried to get up earlier now that she was no longer suffering from a time difference, but that still didn't help matters much. Still, she was her fahter's daughter (as odd as the statement may sound), so she wasn't going to give up yet. So lo and behold her surprise when she saw another elf, whom she did not recongize, but recongized as not being a servant or guard walking down the hallway towards the tower. Curiously she stepped out into the wallway way to see him.. .and talk to him.

Donovan muttered, "A good thing we put the hoods up back there then."

Since elves could see far they had to prepare ahead of time, which was a pain, but they probably had to just in case anyhow.

Triton nodded looking up from under his hood, he was so use to being okay with what he was while he was here, it was a bit weird having to confine his ears again like this.

At least he should be grateful for not having anymore catty features than that.

Elrohir was so distracted by his fatigue and his thoughts that he didn't even notice the child that had fallen into step behind him. He was too busy trying to figure out where his grandmother would be at this time of day, and actually just trying to figure out what time of day it was.

He needed to rest.

"I'll be relieved once we're through," Nadya murmured, lowering the cowl of her cloak for the first time in days and turning her face towards where the sun was supposed to be. She kept her eyes cloak and continued forward as if blind, but sensing her way with her inner Sight.

Lin pouted, he was ignoring her! At least that's what it seemed like to her, after all she wasn't trying to be quiet, and even when she was trying to be quiet the elves always seemed to be able to know she was there, which she found annoying.

"It's rude to not say hello," she finally spoke up to him.

Elrohir jumped, taken by surprise for the first time in a very very long time. By the time it registered in his mind that it had been a child, he felt strangely shaken.

"Er ..." He looked around for whoever it was who had spoken, but he couldn't see anyone. He rubbed his eyes and looked again, then scratched at the back of his head, puzzled.

"Must have been hearing things ..." he muttered to himself in Elvish.

Gion removed his cloak entirely and tucked it into his bag. He could see the elves now, and that meant that they could see him, and he wanted to make sure they knew he wasn't afraid of them. He wanted to make it look as if he belonged there.

Of course, the fact that his family's crest, tattooed down his arm, was now visible was another reason he had shed his cloak. It would (or should) be recognized by most elves of either nation, so it should in theory get them through without questioning.

"Hey!" Lin shouted up, she pouted more as she tugged on his pant leg, it wasn't like his pants were going to fall off, she wasn't that strong after all, "What did you just say?"

Mia tucked her book away (she had brought her whole collection as she walked closer to Nadya, just because out of preference that to her would make more sense. It was like being with her mommy, only Nadya wasn't her mommy, but no one would know that.

Elrohir looked way down and actually had to take a step back in order to be able to see the tiny child that was tugging on his pants. His eyes grew large for a moment, then closed, and he looked up towards the ceiling.

Not another, he thought to himself with an inward groan.

He looked back down at the girl with tired eyes and knelt so that he could be at least a little bit closer to her level.

"Can I help you with something?" he asked, more out of polite habit than out of really wanting to take extra time to help the girl. After all, what he really wanted was to report to his grandmother, bathe and sleep.
