"Not tired persssay... I am cold-blooded, the cold makesss me lethargic..." Cold-blooded sounded so much better than saying she was reptillian.

"..."
What should a man say in responce to that?
Instead of speaking, he simply turned off the road to higher ground, in search of some type of wood on the barren landscape that could be used to start a fire.

Adri hadn't really expected a reply, men were generally weirded out by the fact that she was reptillian. It made for a rather dull love life. Sighing, Adri followed the young man off the road, getting slower the colder it got.

It didn't take long, Jin was walking much more quickly than Adrienne of the Desert, he soon returned to where she was with a sundried branch in tow from a tree that had withered long, long ago. It took no more than a few sparks from a flint and a bit of kindling from a tinderbox he had taken from the wreckage of the caravan, and there was a small fire lit in the shadow of a rock beside the road.
"Alright, come to the fire."

Adri did as the man bid her. It was an order and following orders was second nature to her. She moved to sit next to the fire where she could feel the heat creeping into her body, her energy returning. As if the thought had just occured to her, she looked in his direction, tilting her head to the side inquisitively. "You never told me your name..."

"Jin..."
He replied shortly, leaning back against the cold stone behind him, several feet away from the fire that she sat so close to. His right hand slipped inside the breast of his tunic, and reappeared a moment later with a thin metal tube in hand; an instrument.
He held it for only a second before shutting his eye, bringing the flute to his lips, and beginning to play a slow tune.

Adri had turned her attention to the fire, but as Jin started to play, her head rose and turned towards the sound. "Sssuch a pretty sssound... Sssuch a pleasssing sssound." Adri let out a long, low hiss as her body started to sway gently, in time with the music.

Not just her... with this particular music, there would be quite a few more things swaying with it as Jin continued to play. It didn't take long before two snakes slithered out from the darkness, right into the circle of firelight. They behaved as if they couldn't see either of the two sitting there at all, seemingly entranced, and they simply slithered straight on, over the stones, and into the fire.
Jin continued to play for a few minutes more. Though when the smell of roasting snake began to fill the warm air around the fire, he stopped, reached a hand in quickly, and pulled the two slightly charred snakes out by their tails.

As Jin stopped, Adri started to come out of her own trance, the smell of snake slowly filtering into her mind. She licked at her lips, not at all disturbed by the fact that it was two of her own kind that had just been pulled from the fire. Hell, she'd killed and eaten her own kind raw...

Jin picked up one of them by the tail and tossed it to her; even if she could not see it would land in, or near her own lap.
"If you don't like snake, there's little else..." he said dryly, tearing open the underbelly of the one he had kept for himself. "Better to eat something while it's warm, than nothing when it's cold."

A portal opened at the top of one of the platueas, and Yarneth stepped out. He watched silently from a distance as Red knelt to say her devotions in front of a makeshift grave. She didn't even notice him standing atop the platuea.

-has been off in lalaland, forgive-
Halycanos kept his mouth shut at the comment, his eyes narrowing at a degree that even a flee would not notice the shift. He obviously wasn't fond of the implication of his weakness. But he did have to say... something... "...You got me by surprise, Kid. Just you wait, so anxious to start callin' me out. You wait till there's a day I ain't a foot and a half under and you start something."

Yarneth made his approach silently, floating down from the top of the platuea. The wind wrapped around his arms and legs as he found his way close to her. She didn't move, just pointed her revolver and fired as he approached. The bullet would have gone through his palm if a wall of cold hadn't caused it to splinter into dust.
"Tsk, Tsk," Yarneth said, "You're losing your touch, killing you will should be no problem."
"I don't know," Red said, attaching the cartridge case to the barrel of her gun, "You look a little tired. Someone hasn't been eating their wheaties."
An arm of stone burst from the ground, forming into a coil that lashed at her leg. She jumped away, one formed from behind, smashing the ground as she dodged it as well. Three more surrounded her in a triangular formation, she ducked under their simultaneous blow as the stone whips struck each other and exploded into a rain of pebbles. As she came out of the attack she firsed a cartridge and took cover behind a rock. The resulting explosion released a burst of white light, holy magic. She peered above the odd stone formation that was her cover, nervously awaiting the result.

When the dust began to settle, she saw a figure crouching on the ground, streaks of red running down its face. She sighed as she aimed the next cartridge, time to finish this. "Tsk, Tsk, you missed," A sadastic voice whispered behind her as icy fingers wrapped around her neck and lifted her skyward. The figure crouching before her was nothing more than a cleverly assembled carving of stone, she had been played. She didn't have much time to realize that as Yarneth smashed her face into the rock formation she was taking cover behind. The holodisc fell from her pocket, Yarneth used phsycic energy to take it into his hand and placed it in his pocket, "I'm afraid you may not have much use for that my dear."She raised her rifle behind her and fired her final holy cartridge into his stomach. He avoided a direct hit by the most narrow of margins, though the cartridge exploded behind him, sending them both flying a hundred meters until they were overtop of the old man's grave. The blast had done far more damage to Yarneth than Red, his powers melting away from his body in mist of darkness. Still, he was the first to stand, and he kicked Red in the gut as she was getting up and sending her into the air like she was a mere soccor ball. She fired three rounds on the way down, missing each time, then her side slammed a stone awkwardly, cracking a rib. "I'm going to leave you for dead, you Velban b***h!" he screamed, "Maybe I'll soften you up and leave a care package.""You better make it fast," she smiled, turning over, "At the rate you're losing power you won't even be able to get back home."Indeed, she was more of a handful than Yarneth had given her credit for, but he had been careless, in his haste to grab the communicator he had left himself wide open for that improvised attack. He had let himself get too cocky. He wouldn't be able to use much magic for next few days, now he was pissed. By the time red was on his feet Yarneth had launched into her, first knocking the gun out of her hand. She tried to block his moves as he jabbed for the braken rib, but her speed was reduced. Yarneth whirled behind her, kicked her legs from behind to send her backwards, and then kicked her into the air. She fell on the other side, snapping another rib. She was down this time. Yarneth kicked her in the shoulder, dislocating it with one blow. As she attempted desperately to fumble to her feet he sock with a slug to the left side of her face. She rolled away, but he walked to her calmly. "Tsk, Tsk," he said, "No one here to rescue you now."He kicked hair in the air several times before propelling her forward with his foot, her body smashed against the wall of a platuea. She fell forward, multiple broken bones hampering her movement as blood ran from his mouth. Yarneth walked calmly to her now broken body, his power was draining, he had to go soon or he'd be stuck in the desert. He sat her against the platuea and patted her on the should, smiling contemptuosly as she look on half concious. "I have to leave you now," he said, pulling up her right hand and grasping its delicate fingers, "But first I'm going to break these annoying fingers." "No," she muttered. "Ah, one little finger," he said, starting with her trigger finger. SNAP! Half way through the torture she attempted to stab him through the gut with her bowie knife, but he caught it and received only a deep slice out of his thumb, so that the blood ran down the surface of the knife. By the time he was finished her right hand resembled raw meat, and she passed out. "Worthless," he muttered, "It seams I'm out of time. Though, I suppose I can still offer you a battle you can't hope to win."

Vahn Kyonuske Just how big IS this place?Vahn stopped a bit of ways inside the new room, before turning his head to the side. Yellowed eyes caught sight of Tellus out of the corner of his eye, making him simply catch his breath in. "......" He could feel the unnerving silence, and it was annoying him at best... yet he did feel guilty. "Why so down...?" He'd turned around, facing Tellus and staring to her. A hand raised to the back of his neck, he grinned sheepishly towards her. Tellus looked up from her thoughts, the brief flicker of the childlike smile that was so characteristic of the girl they knew there for but a moment before settling into a neutral non expression. "Just thinking of the sadness the girl feels at losing her children. It's an odd emotion for me to deal with." speaking as if she wasn't Tellus, which she wasn't...sorta... "The day begins, the day ends and life goes on, does it not?"
