Suddenly one of the walls shifted into the wall, revealing a passageway line with books... Pulling himself out from between two such books on the shelf was a a young man who looked straight out of a novel. Looking up at the oncoming sound, the youngin spotted the nightmarish entity that looked like a manifestation of nightmares fathered/mothered (whichever) a child with a ambiguous shadow critter.
Much smaller and much closer was a strange trio of beings that looked both very familiar yet very very very strange to him at the same time. Studying the situation for a moment while sipping a cup of tea, he concluded that the three strange things were on the run from the native predator.
Picking up several coils of rope, the mysterious man began swinging around a grappling hook, building up momentum. After the trio fell past him, he threw the hook upwards and as it arced up the elevator shat it twined around the elevator cables and finally out of the large fearsome looking protruding limb that led it along, binding them together tightly.
"Tut tut cheerio!" Once the rope made contact, the man began scrambling up the rope, climbing the walls towards the fearsome beasty boy.

Esteban climbed to his feet and brushed himself free of the dust from the elevator. His suit was pretty banged up, but at least he was still in one piece. His eyes had still not returned to their yellow hue, but he knew they would in time. "So where am I," he said as he turned around to look at the elevator shaft. "Fourteenth Floor," he began, "I guess I fell a lot further than I thought. I wonder where the other ones are."

Edited in Light Of: Rowen McNeill Rowen, having left the elevator first, found himself both closer to the monster then he wanted to be, and farther from Die then he wanted to be. Pulling his wings in, he dropped a number of feet until he was at the woman's side, and extended his wings as much as he had to in order to stay by her side. Looking down, he watched Esteban's antics, absentmindedly reaching into his pocket to pull out a juice box and open it.
"Huh. We gonna catch up with him?" He looked up at her, and sipped the juice thoughtfully. "And while the guy in the library seems to have vanished off to someplace less interesting, I still hold to the motion that we should have a census done of this place."
The young man looked up, and frowned, still drinking the juice. "A very resilient census taker... What was that about, anyway? Or should we go accompany our visitor, and discuss it later?" The up-draft caused by the friction-heat of the elevator made Die pull her wings in closer to maintain her current rate of decent. "We wil--" She blinked, then twisted to look upwards at what sounded like an English accent. She had to twist a bit to get a good angle--she was not built for flying in such cramped quarters--but the voice seemed to belong to someone who had appeared from almost no where, dressed like a British explorer. Die blinked. "We really will be needing a census." She shook her head and looked for the broken doors below the signaled the Doctor's own route of escape. The elevator shaft really wasn't large enough for two creatures with wingspans as massive as theirs, but for the moment, they could manage. If nothing else she could latch onto the wall and let him pass before following... unless the big ugly thing had other ideas. "Get to the Doctor--I don't want him running alone in this place; we can discuss later." She didn't add that she wanted him further from the monster after seeing him burn through his energy so quickly. The thing above them, far from deterred by their escape, almost seemed to boil down the shaft towards them, a roiling black cloud more amorphous than rigidly bound to the vague shape it had assumed. It swiped a hand made up of three massive claws and a slightly less massive oppose-able claw at the newest nuisance, perhaps intending to cut the rope on which he climbed while maneuvering to pass it and grasp the far more obviously powerful trio below. Where Esteban stood, the floor was quiet, and from the reports heard of the Library, it was eerily so. Perhaps the monster's smaller cousins had fled when He arrived... Or maybe they were waiting, just out of sight, just out of reach, for a lone fool to wander into their domain to be devoured...

"I say! Tut tut tut! Good day to you then!" The strange explorer shouted his battle cry as he threw another grappling hook, this time snagging onto the elevator brake line and pulled it closer. With a swipe of its claws the scary villianous offspring of nightmares sliced through the new line and grappling hook effortlessly as it swiped at out poor explorer. With the brakes out the elevator began climbing upwards to the top floor as the wire the nightmare was attached to went up, taking the monster and the young man along with it. "Fancy a cup of tea?!"

Rowen nodded when she spoke, and threw her a jaunty salute- with matching smile- when she told him to go after Esteban. He was also a little concerned about the wing-space, but didn't think it was his place to comment. "Yes ma'am!"
He drew his wings close, and dropped like a surprisingly in-control stone. As he reached the bottom, the young man gradually opened his wings, bringing him to a slow as he neared the entrance to the 14th floor. He could have been more dramatic about it, but the updraft could have made things difficult for Die, and the last thing he wanted was to make things difficult for her.
Grabbing the edge of the elevator door frame, he swung himself into the 14th floor, and landed in a roll. When he came to a stop his wings were nowhere to be seen. He had finished the juice box on his decent, and looked around; both for a trash bin, and for Esteban.

Hearing a large thud behind him, Esteban turned to see Rowan, crumpled up juice-box in hand. "Ah, glad you could join me."

The doors of the Tenth Sea Library opened just wide enough for Z to walk in, then promptly closed behind him as he munched on the chips that Record had given him. He was hunched over, his walk was slow but ne never broke stride as he continued onward.
His eyes scanning around the general knowledge section of the first floor.
Hmm, the chances of any information of importance being here on this floor is about only nine percent... I best start either at the top or the bottom and work my way down or up...
Z knew that those odds werent good, and with the size of this place his chances of finding something on this floor would be greatly reduced by the fact that it was just himself searching. But he was a quick reader and food with books, so he wuold beable to cover alot of text quickly even by himself.
He wlked up behind the woman at the front desk and waited paitnetly behind her, munching on his bag of chips.

Kai stepped through the doors quietly, making sure the harp strapped to her back wasn't knocked. Awed by the sheer amount of books before her, Kai wandered to the nearest shelf, looking for the history section. Lost in her head Kai ignored the other people in the room, she looked for the stairs that would take her to the next level, hoping to find some historical accounts to authenticate some of the tales she had picked up on the road.

Z finished his bag of chips, his eyes constantly scanning all around him as he waited. But he grew board, and he shrugged finally. He wasnt going to bother asking for any directions now, or permission to enter any of the restricted areas.
He turned and began walking away from the front counter.
I suggest you dont bother looking for anyone, they appeare to all be preoccupied...
He spoke into the womans mind as he walked away to the stairs to the upper floors, not realising he was following someone. He was preoccupied in his own thoughts at this point, trying to make sense of what he knew and decipher what he didnt. He still didnt have enough of the puzzle, and he didnt have any way to get that information except through here. It was a long shot, but one he was willing to take, no matter the dangers.
After all, it wasnt just his best shot, it was his only one.

After finding the stairs, Kai was soon wandering through the shelves of the next floor. Not finding what she wanted she went up the levels until she found the historical texts. They seemed to occupy the entire space, but Kai thought that unlikely. Kai glanced around her but saw no one else- so surely she wasn't breaking any rules...right? "Better to ask for forgivness than permission." Kai muttered to herself quietly as she opened an old tome of stories and leaned lightly against the shelf.

Z hummed a soft tune to himself as he walked up the flights of stairs slowly. He wasnt in to much of a hurry at the moment. the thought of all these books right here was impressive, but with little to no care takers he wondered how long the place would survive. Books needed tending to after all. Though it was a big place, and the care takers could have all be busy with other things.
When he climbed the last flight of stairs to the next floor, floor two he stopped and looked around. Cocking an eyebrow to the elevator doors that waited for anyone to press the call button. He shrugged and figured it would be the easiest way to get to the top floor to begin his search.
Walking up to the elevator call buttons, the button lit up as his mind pressed the button for him. Now he waited, not sure how long it would take for the elevators to come from whatever floor they were coming from.

A chime indicated that the elevator had reached its intended destination and the doors slid open. Z looked inside and cocked an eyebrow before steping inside. The top floor button lit up as Z's mind depressed the button and the doors slid shut infront of him as he stood and waited.
A sudden jerk, the soft hum of movement and Z was headed up to the top floor of the Tenth Sea Library. From the time it had taken the elevator to get to the second floor, Z could only assume that it would take that long, if not longer to get to the top. So he sat down and pulled his right leg to his body so his head could rest on his knee.
Z sighed alittle.
I wish I had a bag of Coco-Chips...
He said aloud to the elevator.

Soft chimes rang out in the elevator room as each floor arrived and passed. It had indeed been a long wait, almost five minutes passed as Z sat and waited, and soon it was approaching the ten minute mark when finally the feel of the room slowing then stopping, then the door opening shook Z out of his spacing out trance.
He rose to his feet and began walking again. Not to his surprise, this room was completely filled it books, wall to wall, floor to ceiling, shelf to shelf. It was indeed an impressive library. But, as impressive as it was, Z couldnt help but feel that it might be all for show. That these book may all be copies of each other and just randomized to appear that the library was full of knowledge. Z would soon find out that he was wrong. He didnt have to walk very far to get the feeling that books, scrolls, parchments, everything from all walks of life lay within the walls of this building.
Drawing a deep breath, Z set out into the semi-darkness of the library's top floor to look for anything that might be what he was searching for.
