The bird smiled softly, as best as she could at the lioness and shook her head slowly, looking towards Kimeti and bowing her head before turning back to Kinja.
"Oh no good lioness, I am just passing through before I return to the Pride Lands!"
She then looked back to the cub and chuckled softly before she hopped out of the tree, a flurry of black feathers beating agaisnt the air before she landed next to Kimeti.
"And hello to you too little one"

Kavuasi was BORED. There was absolutely nothing to do. T'least, that's what he kept telling himself. After all, all of his siblings were busy, as well as his parents... And he practically thrived on their attention. So, he decided to win them over, even if it was only for a few moments.

"Hey, Kwana! Kafara!" He shouted, prancing over to his oldest and youngest sister. They were his closest sisters, and he figured they'd be easier to sway over to his side than his other siblings.

Kafara looked at her older brother, a small, feline smile crossing her maw. She was still a very, very quiet child, and she was still the smallest of Kiu and Kinja's cubs, but. . . she had grown, and she seemed healthy enough.

"Yes?" she asked. One word. Kafara delighted in monosyllabic replies. This was, perhaps, why the few long phrases that she did utter were always noted, because of their rarity. When Kafara did say a lot, it was important.

Kwana's ears perked towards the call, eyes following a moment later. She frowned, sighing, then fixed a toothy grin on her face. Rising to her feet, she took a moment to stretch before returning her attention to her younger brother, raising an eyebrow curiously. "What do you want now?"

Well, Kafara's answer seemed well enough... But Kwana almost sounded... angry. Kavuasi supressed a shudder, then grinned back, his smile completely sincere.

"S'getting boring around this clearing... Wanna go check out the rest of the desert area?" It was all Firekin land, right? They could get along well enough out there. After all, they WERE of pure Firekin blood! "It'd be like... An adventure! Whatdya say?"

"Mother wouldn't like it," Kafara said in a whisper.

Four words. That was a long sentance for her.

And it was true, Kinja wouldn't like it. Not one bit. She'd most likely scold them thoroughly and give them a good swat when they got back (if they got back, Kafara thought grimly).

However, Kafara did not say 'no'. Deep down, she really did want to go on an adventure. . . it'd be such fun!

Kwana very nearly agreed with her sister, but then...she realized she didn't really care. Sure, their mother would likely get mad... Their father too, come to think of it. But, really, what could they do? And Kavu was right. The clearing was dull, and it was Firekin lands...

An adventure presented countless options. Kwana's mind raced with ideas, eyes glinting faintly from the sheer thought of what could happen. Finally, the cub shook her head clear and nodded, padding over to nudge Kafara with one paw. "Mother won't mind. C'mon, we're going."

Kavuasi's grin grew. So, Kwana agreed with him! That was rare. She was always sort of cold towards him. But oh no, not this time! He had come up with a good idea, and nothing was gonna stop them!

"Yeah, aren't mom and dad always telling us to experience new things? This'll be great!" The little male Firekin piped up, his tail held high as he pranced in a circle around his sisters. Surely they'd find SOMETHING amazing out there, past the little circular clearing they had always known.

Kimeti looked at the bird in fascination. When words were uttered past the long appendage called a beak Kimeti cocked his head to the side slightly. "I am fine." He muttered. Out of curiosity he lifted his paw and was about to swipe at the bird when he felt himself being lifted by the scruff of his neck. Looking up he could see his mum. "Hey!" He protested

Kinja moved her son to the side and placed him back on the ground. "You'll have to excuse him. He doesn't see many different creatures besides us lions." She smiled and looked back over to her other cubs who were being FAR to quiet all of a sudden. "I better check on his brother and sisters. It was wonderful meeting you. I hope your journey is fair."

She smiled before picking Kimeti up again and walking to the group of cubs. She placed Kimeti down next to his brother and eyed her cubs. "And what are you up to?" She flopped onto the sand and looked at her little ones accusingly.*

Kafara didn't lie. "Hello, Mum," was not a lie. She didn't mention going on an adventure (she'd decided that a swatting from her mother was worth it), and she didn't intend to.

She twitched her tail, glancing at her siblings coolly. She just hoped that they didn't give away their secret plans. . . She trusted them. They were, after all, intelligent enough to keep their mouths shut.

Kafara might have said more, had she been as talkative as her siblings, but as it were, she was not, and so she simply darted up to her mother's leg and sat on her haunches beside it.

"Oh, hallo Mother." Normally, Kwana wouldn't give a hoot about lying, but...well, this was her mother. So she would settle for bending the truth a bit. "We're only playing. Or were about to, at least. Kavu has a great idea for...a game." The cub smiled innocently, sitting back down and shooting Kavu a quick 'don't screw up' glare. A split second afterwards the smile was back, and she was batting boredly at her tail, the picture of innocence.

Kavu had to think fast. His grin faded to a pleasant smile, and he looked wide-eyed up at his mother, moving to her other leg and rubbing up against her in an attempt to look cuddly.

"Yeah, mom! We were just going to play a game. Was gettin' some rules straightened out, right, guys?" He shot a look at both Kwana and Kafara, puffing his chest out. See? He could bluff along without screwing things up. Hopefully they'd keep it up long enough for Kinja to move away.

She purred gently and licked Kavu. "Don't let Kimeti out. He seems quite bored. In fact, I think I'll join you all in your game." She smiled and nudged Kavu. "Now explain to me what this game is all about."

Kimeti looked at his mother the back where the bird was and noticed it had flown away. He sighed and turned to his siblings. A game seemed to trivial compared to the world that they were all so forbidden to see. Sighing he gave in and turned to listen to what was being said about this 'game' since there wasn't much he could do about his urge to roam with his mother around.

"We're going to play hide and seek," Kafara blurted out. "We were arguing about who was going to be 'it'. Since you joined last, you get to be it!"

Kafara did not wink. She did not shoot Kavu or Kwana a sly or triumphant smirk. But, inwardly, she knew that she had come up with a very clever plan. As soon as Kinja closed her eyes, they'd be off on their adventure.

Kafara did feel slightly bad, tricking her mother like this, but her excitement quickly quelled the feelings of guilt that rose in her breast. The small lioness stood up, turning to Kavusai. "Are you two ready to hide? And are you going to play, Kimeti?"

For the next thirty seconds, Kwana simply stared at her sister. That was easily the longest speech she had ever heard from the youngest cub, AND it was a lie. A huge flat out lie, too. Kwana was impressed. Not that she would ever admit it, of course.

Snapping out of her daze, she nodded cheerfully in reply, glancing up to her mother with a smile. "That's right, though I'd thought Kavu would explain... You have to count, Mum!"
