Reddemon Id like to point out that there are options, like lurking, for a failed IB test Reddemon A MC cant lurk, and you need to be so far away from some secenery I do belive Lurking must be declared and is done instead of taking an IB test. It's not an option in failing a test. An MC can Lurk, but it doesn't add +1 to it's cover save when it does. There is no terrain requirement for lurking.

I'm (an idiot for using this make up all the time) making a bug army that's genestealer based.. (LOTS OF RENDING)
Here's what I've got so far:
1 Broodlord (Toxin Sacks + Carapse) 11 GD retinue (Toxin + Carapse)
7 Genestealers (Toxin + Carapse)
6 Genestealers (Toxin + Carapse)
3 Lictors
1 shooty fex - 2 barbstranglers (Or is it twin linked?), Enhanced Senses, Toxin sacks, Carapase, Spore cyst, reinforced chitin, regenerate, bonded exoskeleton
1 CCfex, Crushing claws + Scything talons, Scythed tail, toxin sacs, enhanced senses, tusked, reiforced chitin, regenrate, bonded exoskeleton
2 Zoanthrope, w/ synaps + warpblast
And that's it.
It totals to 1500 points.
Here's the thing, The genestealers do ABSOLUTLY NOTHING except soak up fire... which lasts for about 2 turns.. Then my big bugs kill about a squad before getting las cannoned to death... I'm almost prepaired to go "AGGRR" and play a big-bug army.
Any suggestions on tactics / additions to the army / ideas in general
Aswell: Do giving the carnifex 2 barb stranglers count as a single one twin linked, or 2 single linked barb stranglers?

Two Barbed Stranglers count as a single twin-linked gun. Better to give the 'Fex a Venom Cannon and a Barbed Strangler, as more dakka is always useful for a poor shot like a 'Fex.
Here's my advice on your army:
Drop the CC 'Fex. Unless you're fighting assaulty armies, he's never going to get into combat, and if you're fighting assaulty armies, he's Powerfist/chainaxe bait.
Drop Spore Cysts off your 'Fex. It hurts him more often than not, as he can hurt himself crapping them out, and if a lasgun-toting infantryman can't hurt the fex, he can shoot the toxin mine and get a chance to hurt your fex. Go with Thornback or Spinebanks if you REALLY want to, but Spore Cysts are a waste of time.
You NEED more troops. You should fill out all 6 troops choices, even if it's not all genestealers, as you need more targets to overwhelm your opponents' targeting capabilities.
Consider getting a flying Hive Tyrant, as there's nothing to take the heat off genestealers like a monstrous horror rushing through the air at enemy lines.
Drop Toxin Sacs on the Genestealers. You really don't need it, with all the rending attacks you're getting already.

It's my understanding that Genestealers cost a HUGE number of points, making a rather ineffective fire-soaker. Try Hormaguants, maybe?

I try to put my genestealers behind a wall of termagants, that of which I have 60, so it does fairly well. The one problem I have with that strategy is vehicles that don't have to test for target priority, and always obliterate them.

With extended carpace, which is the only upgrade they really need, they cost a little more than your average Necron Warrior. The thing with Genestealers is that they are like Orks, in that anything they charge is probably gonna get shredded in a round or two of combat. You either need to 1. Screen them with lots of Gaunts and hope folks don't make target priority checks, 2. Use cover, and the infiltrating Broodlord judiciously, to insure minimal fire reaches your lines to cut up your 'stealers.

Reddemon Scout work wonferfully for them Scuttlers is nice, but it's not an absolutly necessary, must-take upgrade the way Ext. Carapace is. 5+ saves are on the verge of uselessness, as almost everything except the humble lasgun punches through it. 4+ is needed to make sure you're at least getting saves against most fire.

Yea, but when your opponet gets one round of shooting, how much dose a 5+ save matter?
