space marines are for shallow beginers quick massacre players, i like to play with them cause you can have alot of fun shredding up like 3 enemies at the same time.
but i really appreciate the more deep playing that the eldar gives, you have to make more choices, and you have to get a wider variety of infantry, cause you can massacre alot with just space marine squads, with eldar you can actually use tactics and stuff.
One of the most awesome sights for me is a army of banshees just gutting everything in your enemies army, incredible i say

I have found that Banshees arn't that scary... I would take a unit of striking scorpions or fire dragons... those are scary. Put a unit of fire dragons on a wave serpent get them in shooting lenth of strong unit that they can just melt away. I would have to say that the best the Eldar can offer are their Rangers... they are vastly supiorer than the scouts of the marines.

In one way Ranger are superior to other snipers in every aspect, yes, but unfortunately the correct usage of them is very situational. In my past 10 games or so I have taken a squad of 6 Rangers and they have never made up their point value. I have faced every different type of army with them lately and I just don't enjoy their use. For 10 Rangers cost you can get a full Guardian squad with a Starcannon and a cheap Warlock. The withering hail of fire they can provide always pack more of a punch than Rangers have. For me personally at least.

I have 10 rangers.. and even though I may not use them.. I like to have one unit of everything in the eldar list so I can paint em and screw around.

Well in about 2 months time the eldar book will be redone and all new models will be put out... the avatar is gonna be like 300 points but will be able to take a Necron Lord in hand to hand. And the Rangers with AP 1 on sixes hitting thats good for taking down terminators cuase your most likly to roll a six with 10 rangers and thats one terminator gone.

I agree, on the ranger and scorpion point. Fire dragons are just a little to specific for my taste. However, even better than ragers are the wonderful pathfinders. 4-6 to hit = ap1.

The ranger thing has been around for quite a while.

You kill that Terminator...
IF you can roll a 4+ after you hit.
Which is where the dice hate me.

I play Beil Tan and I wish that my rangers could be pathfinders... it almost made me paint the way of alaitoc but their paint sceam isn't very nice. And I play my fire dragons on a wave serpent to kill and stop everthing in front... pretty much they try to take down as much as they can well my other important units get into position... the less fire on my dark reapers before they get to cover the better. Also if my fire dragons are in trouble in hand to hand my scorpions will jump in. The aspects can hit but with S4 and T4 they cant wound worth s**t... I hope they change that when the new book comes out.

yes beautiful indeed, especially when there are 10 squads rollin towards you
hmm the thing is, the IG ironicly are my bane when it comes to space marines. Those stupid grenade launchers dont let me set up my heavy bolters. But eldar dont really stun very well because they land on their feet, gracious bastards. And basicly i have to make it so whenever my guys are attached they rush in with knives, cause they arent gonna win against grenade launchers
sad

Those grenade launchers are a real pain in the butt but it'seasy when you get a squad of assault marines and send them in, then let the heavy bolters and plasma rifles shred the guard while their in close combat. Or just get lots of assault marines of terminators and forget ranged weapons.
But also about the eldar i think they should be better in close combat because when i engage them in close combat they usually get shredded in close combat unless they have banshees or wraithlords or something.

Yeah i beleive its completely unfair for the eldar to get such week close combat abilities. recently i have been experimenting with basic units and close combat, and i found that pretty much anything, besides gaurd, can obliterate eldar infantry (except banshees) with ease. For instance, i ran a group of 5 space marines into a squad of 9 gaurdians...cut thru them like a hot knife thru butter...
also figured out that chaos are the best in CC and not the orks

Thank the Lord.

And by "the Lord", in this case, I mean Games Workshop.
