The doctor turns to Lael and says, perturbed, "Not even I, a professional Oracle, can figure this out. ...that means that elves, humans and Oracles don't have the knowledge to solve this problem."
Jay asks, "And that means...?"
"To make it simple, we have to figure out why the migraines are happening because, though she and the child are fine, the migraines happening while she's active can cause damage to both of them, potentially...."
"Like what happened earlier when I was diving."
"Exactly," says the doctor, "Either we have to figure out what is causing the migraines or you cannot be active at all, aside casually walking."

"Being bedridden for months on end can't be fun," Lael says. "What tests were you thinking of doing?"

Kitara nods at Lael's statement. Her? Bedridden for months as she waits for her son's birth? Not typically or naturally - her nature would be completely against it. However, for her son.... Oh, the decision to make!
The doctor shrugs and says, "We've met pretty regularly for the last seven years, since I am her regular doctor, but we still haven't figured out what is the cause. We've tried MRI scanning, PET scanning, hypnosis, fortune telling - though my colleagues don't know about that one -, yoga, and other methods. Nothing helps...."
"At all," Jay and Kitara say at the same time.

Lael sighs. "I guess the problem is that neither of us have ever heard of anything like this. I would guess that it's a neurological problem, but if you can't find anything in her brain then the only logical conclusion is that the problem must be elsewhere and the pain is being transfered to her head."

Kitara sighs and says, "Even Aunt Anna's doctor, from the town next door, can figure it out. That's saying a lot considering that he's an elf as well..."
Her doctor nods, "It's still a mystery but, unless we figure out what's wrong, we may have to prescribe bed-rest, Kitara."
The female sighs again, knowing that it would be hard for her (a female elvish warrior - with blue hair!) to rest for so long. It was hard enough for her to stay at home when she was pregnant with Trea while her cousin Darian and her fiance Jay were going off on another adventure. Just by looking at Jay, she knows that he knows that she would have problems either way - bed-rest or traveling.

"Do you even have any theories?" asks Lael. "Kitara, when did this start? You travel a lot. Had anything strange happened? Were you in any sort of strange or dangerous place?"

The female elf shakes her head, "They've been happening since I was about two years old and my parents, before then, wouldn't let me out of their sights. It wasn't until I was five that I was able to travel to the outskirts of the village. ...there was nothing in the village to cause the migraines and it wasn't due to a birth defect because my mother had a normal gestation period, even for those of blue hair."
Jay nods, having experienced the same thing with his own family (aside the 'migraine' problem). It was just something that the elves of their village did and even what the two of them had done with their daughter Trea, who is now with Kitara's aunt and uncle and who had started to travel by herself at the age of six.

"When your a child all sorts of things can cause problems. At 2 years old your brain is still developing. Perhaps you saw or heard something, even if now you can't remember it, that caused problems," Lael says.

Kitara shakes her head, "I'm an Elf. I would know if something like that happened. ...Jay would know it too, considering we were always together."
The doctor pauses and says, "So how come Jay doesn't have the migraines but Kitara does?"
"Genetics?" Jay asks.

"It's possible," the albino says. "Some genetic diseases' symptoms don't begin to show until a few years after birth. But I can't think of one that would present with such unusual symptoms."

"Whatever it is," Kitara says, "No Elvish, Human, Elemental, Angelic, or Demonic doctor, or in that case 'medicine', has been able to find a cure for it, much less figure out what the cause is."
She lowers her head and cries softly, "It's my burden for the rest of my life, or for at least the rest of my pregnancy. Also, it might be passed on to our children, since we don't know where the cause is....."

"Don't be silly," Lael says, a little more curtly than she meant to. "Medicine is changing all the time. Just because we don't know the cause now doesn't mean we never will."

Kitara silent now, Jay speaks up.
"But if the Angels, nor the Demons, do not know of a medicine to heal it, how can there be a medicine to heal it? How can such a superior race such as the Angels, whom have all the knowledge that all the other races possess, not know of a thing to heal such a minor condition, according to them, such as migraines?"
The doctor, standing a bit back from the conversation, nods saying, "He's got a point. The Angels and the Demons do have an advantage over all other races in more than just medicinal value. Also, Elves usually have slightly less knowledge in medicine than the Angels and the Demons do so they do have an advantage over humans in that perspective...."

"Angles and demons don't know everything," Lael says. "We humans have a few virtues ourselves." She sighs and rubs her temples, feeling a headache coming on. She's still trying to cover emotionally from seeing Devon after so long. Having to deal with Westley, Margem, and Kitara's injuries is putting a bit of a strain on her. She sighs, fighting and succeeding to remain calm.
"What I'm saying is, don't give up hope. The cure may come to us someday," she says.

"I seem to be dealing with a lot of people who should be dead but aren't, at least not quite, lately," Darian said dryly. "It was so much simpler in the old days when someone was alive or dead. No middle, and no one coming back." He sighed and passed a hand over his face. "But the doctor's right, of course, patient now, weird stuff later."
