My instructor was relatively happy when I asked to switch over to mello/horn. I was extremely strong on flute, and he believes its carried over into my mello/horn playing. smile I miss flute sometimes though. We have this lovely thing called a "scale chart" which marks our progress on all the scales. I have until December to get 11 others at atleast 120 bpm. I got a one octave concert Bb scale, and so far that's it. On flute, I could do three octaves on almost everything. neutral

pyrojazz kiefy I had to convince mine to let me play french horn when I first switched. they practicly THREW one at me...wait that was literally....anyway I could have played anything so my band director said French Horn! EDIT: I like French horn because I can hit high C and play an octave below the written notes in the book, its all about the range cool

After like a week on trumpet, my BD yelled at all the trumpets but me to get bigger mouthpeices. He then told me I would make a good horn player. I already had considered the instrument, so, luckily , I got the horn on the day I forgot my trumpet xD @Tom Gunn When I saw this, I nearly choked on whatever I was drinking at the time. I'm getting better at my low range, but I still can't get higher than that stupid G ><

pyrojazz kiefy did you catch that bass clef and the switch to the treble clef? tarashia Oh yes. That's why I choked on my drink xD @muted melodies Hmm. I'll have to try that. I should practice them anyway, I was terrible about hitting wrong notes last year.

Tarashia pyrojazz kiefy did you catch that bass clef and the switch to the treble clef? tarashia Oh yes. That's why I choked on my drink xD ok cause I think they are the sam exact notes and thats not even the full range of the horn. I love the lower notes.

Being an amateur trumpet player before switching to a horn, I had no idea of its utterly impossible seeming range xD Yeah. That's from a person who didn't know a trumpet could hit that high C above the staff. I seriously need range work... sweatdrop

I <33 horn players a lot, but I've got a question for you guys...
Is it natural for horn players to crack? Because even in my region, area and state band... horns seem to... crack a note before they come to the right one.
