"Well? Are you prepared for this?" he questioned Feyd, his voice still annoyed. "We can summon your Persona now, but we'll have to make it fast. I have another appointment very soon."

The darkness had worried Feyd, he had been about to suggest that perhaps they arrived at the wrong place and they ought to try again when the music came. In all his years of performing he'd never heard anything quite like that duet and he might had drifted closer to examine the two had the irritable man on the sofa not caught his eye. Something told Feyd he'd best watch himself and he chose to stick by Elliot.

Or he would have. The actor half stumbled as Adalei dragged him forward, he hadn't expected such an action, or such strength from a girl of her stature. The mention of the fortune of teller jogged his memory, hadn’t that crone mentioned something about the Velvet Room and the Fool card?

“I’m not sure if I’m prepared,” honestly he didn’t’ even know what was happening, “but I suppose I’ll have to be, I made a promise to them,” Feyd nodded towards the pair he came in with. “Will you be needing this?”

Reaching into his pocket Feyd offered the Fool card.

sitting near one of the building that were closest to the ocean, and would be facing the sun directly. Emi had taken off both her holier than thou socks and her large black shoes, her socks were placed neatly to the left of her and the shoes on her right. Emi sat there, her back leaning against the building as she stared blankly at her pale feet, more so to her right foot, the one that had the deep, medium diamond shape scar. She gently reached out to the foot and slowly started to massage the foot, tracing her fingers along the ridig scar and talking to herself.

"still wonder....how did I ever get a scar like this on the top of my foot...as well as on the bottom of my foot. So confusing, but...guess that is how most of my memories as well as the ones I can easily remember...but the other ones...."

Emi sighed, after she had spoken quietly to herself she looked over to her left and at the socks, touching them to see if they were dried. They were but it was more so, dried but still moist or wet in some spots. Shaking her head and smiling a little bit, not in happiness but more so in a way that this was expected to happen. She decided to wait a little bit longer, there was no real point in Emi walking around and waiting at whatever place it was where the exuction to happen, no one would be there by this time. Let alone she knew that she would not get any customers at her shop today so the only thing she knew would be best for her right now is to simply wait.

She slowly moved her her legs close to her chest and placed her elbows on her knees, both hands joined together to form a fist and both hands gently rested on top of her forehead as she closed her eyes and waited for time to pass her by. The slight though appeared in her mind before she hid it away like all of her memories or thoughs, she blanked out again....she wondered what she did, she was afraid of what happend...the only way to explain it was that....she wasn't herself...

As Feyd offered the Fool card to Igor, Adalei suddenly grew anxious, realizing that she should have better informed her friend of what was about to occur. Her first experience with the Velvet Room and her Persona had shocked and confused her, and she hoped that Feyd would not react poorly to what would soon happen.

Turning guilty eyes to Feyd, she whispered, "What will happen now will...will not make much sense. After this is done, I'll explain as best I can, though."

Taking the pipe from his mouth, he blew a stream of smoke into the air and squinted at Feyd. "Mister Rather, that outfit is not becoming of you at all. I admit that I imagined you differently when I read your file."

Despite the skepticism in his voice, he reached under one of his sofa cushions to retrieve a small mirror. He inspected the card one more and turned his eyes back to Feyd. "I do hope that Adalei was kind enough to explain the situation. Unfortunately, even with the best explanations, few humans are prepared to inherit their Persona."

With one hand resting on the receiver of his strange machine, he asked, "Will you accept the conditions of our agreement? We will grant you power, power sufficient to threaten the tyranny of Sehket. However, you must be responsible for your Persona, and you must take great care with him. If you can do that, then we will summon your Persona without further hesiation."

Rubido twisted and dodged his way through the throngs edging Kensington. He could tell the populace was riled, their energy apparent in each face and eye- but whether they were thrilled or grim was impossible to tell. Still, something in him could not help but answer to it, like a child eager to dance in the taught air before a thunderstorm.

The man couldn't help but chuckle at the sentiment, 'Y'know... for a dying city, we really are alive here, aren't we?'

Finally, Rubido ducked around and into one of the dim alleyways he favored for traveling and swooped down to sit cross-legged on a clean-looking cobblestone he noticed had been unearthed earlier. With barely a glance to ensure his privacy he untied his prize and set to feasting. What was the point of fresh bread if you didn't eat it while it was still just that?

Had he been that sort of person, Rubido would probably have had sense to wait until he was home to unveil a meal, but past his initial caution the thought of being robbed or cheated hadn't occurred to him. To some degree, it was possible he was still used to being the one doing the mugging. But since he wasn't that type of person, it was probably very lucky no one desperate enough noticed the young man tucked away as he was. When the thought finally occurred to him, Rubido's dark gaze snapped up and around in a moment of panic before he relaxed and laughed nervously at nothing in particular.

"Yes... Very alive," he muttered.

Rubdio stood with a tug to straighten his hat and colar, re-wrapping what was left of his bread. He was a leisurely eater- once and a while stories circulated about starving people who gorged themselves, and died in the process- so a good half of it was left.

As an afterthought, Rubido unwrapped and tore off a hunk of bread and left it gingerly where he had sat, just incase anyone was watching. Satisfied for the moment, the young man set off back down his alleyway.

Earlier in the day Feyd might have been surprised by Igor’s knowledge of him, but at this point the actor was past being shocked and merely muttered something about a lack of proper wigs. He did feel a need to defend his friends though, all his meetings with them had been rather rushed and he told the pale man so.

By the time Igor got to the agreement Feyd was agitated as could be. So much talk and so few answers, only the hope that everything would soon be explained kept him in his place now. Green eyes flickering from the strange device, to the card, and finally to the man that held it Feyd swallowed:

“I accept.”

Igor
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. "Well, Adalei, I'll admit that you saved me some trouble having to explain all of this to your friend. Philemon keeps us so busy that it's difficult to ever give a proper explanation." As he spoke, Igor placed the device to his ear, pressing buttons on the face of his foreign machine. He waited for a moment before he spoke, the listener someone who was seemingly not in the same room.

"You know the Rather fellow? Yes, he's jumped the schedule... Well, of course I know that it's trouble for you. But we've got a bit of an emergency here, and the master will be displeased if he hears that we haven't taken care of it ourselves... Mm... Ah, excellent! So it can be done soon then? ...Very well. Preparations on this end will only take a minute."

Taking the mirror he had retrieved from beneath the cushions, Igor held the Fool card near the surface of the glass. Then he pushed the card into the mirror, the reflection swallowing the object as though it were made of liquid.

Darkness fell suddenly upon the room, as though the only candle that provided light had been snuffed. The music that had once calmed the hearts of its listeners was also seemingly swallowed by darkness. Once more deaf and blind, several moments in the infinite darkness of the Velvet Room passed.

From somewhere above, the first sounds of whispers separated themselves from the silence. As time passed, the whispers grew more intense, until they took form as a noisy murmur of voices arguing, discussing, and thinking. The voices also began to gain form, appearing as whispy ghost-like figures, drifting and entwining with each other near the ceiling of the room. They emitted an ethereal light that did not descend upon those standing below.

However, one particular spirit pulled itself from the crowd. With movements difficult to follow with the eye, it slipped in and out of the darkness, leaving trails red as blood where it had once been. Without warning, a voice whispered itself into Feyd's ear, the sound of wind moving through autumn leaves:

"An adventure? I'm all for it! Don't worry, I'll take care of all the problems in our way!"

As soon as the words were spoken, the spirit slid over Feyd's shoulder, seemingly attracted to the contents within an open box Igor held in his lap. After the spirit entered the box, Igor snapped the lid shut.

Light returned slowly to the room, followed by the music of Belladonna and Nameless. Igor stared at the lid of the box, as though he were counting silently in his mind. Then, slowly, he lifted the lid to reveal an infant with an air of a person much older.

Feyd’s breath caught as the light left the room. Had something gone wrong? Emerald eyes wide he didn’t move, not even as the ceiling began to dance. It was the glint of red that reassured him, despite it’s similarity to the color of blood. Unconsciously he nodded in agreement to the whispered promise, a faint smile on his lips.

When the light returned he approached the box and the babe it held. The Persona, his Persona. He hadn’t expected it to be so… young. Gingerly, as though it might attack Feyd reached out, gathering the child into his arms.

For his part the child chortled, waving a small arm at Feyd’s face.

“Is he… supposed to be this small?”

For his part the child chortled, waving a small arm at Feyd’s face.

“Is he… supposed to be this small?”

Adalei and Elliot both appeared by Feyd's side, one on either side of him. Adalei's face was lit with an excited smile while Elliot offered a finger to the child.

"Well, they all are born young. But they grow very quickly," Adalei commented, her eyes slowly shifting to Elliot as she spoke. "My Elliot actually began speaking his first words after the first...two or three days?"

Stepping forward, Elliot bowed his head to Igor, though a playful smile remained on his lips. "Our thanks, Negotiator. I doubt that Sarutobi Sasuke can aid us much in his current form, but his mere presence may lend me some strength when it is time to confront Quinn." Adalei joined her companion, bowing her head and murmurring her own thanks.

Then, as though the urgency of their situation did not allow time to stand in awe of the infant for much longer, Adalei began ushering their group out of the Velvet Room.

"Feyd, I do apologize for not explaining this earlier. I wasn't think straight, and before...when we first met you, I didn't think it was appropriate to tell you about our secret. I mean, we didn't know you had been chosen by Philemon." Adalei paused, pressing one hand to her forehead as she stared at the ground. "But where to begin? There's a lot to say."

Elliot fell into step with Feyd, interjecting with his own explanation. "You see, there are many worlds that exist. This place you know as your world is only one of many existences in creation. When we say, 'the Other Side,' it's a term that means, 'a world different from this one.' This side is this world, but the Other Side is the world that exists inside the mirror."

"Ah, but this is my favorite part!" Adalei interrupted, taking Feyd's other side. "Have you ever had a dream in which you were...not yourself? I mean, maybe you've dreamt that you were a warrior in another society, or maybe that you were a cat or something of that sort. The warrior or cat from your dreams is actually another version of yourself that lives in another world. In your dreams, sometimes you can see the 'self' that exists on the Other Side. And that's essentially what a Persona is...it's who you were in another world. Igor's job is to summon them into this world, into Wynander."

"We...the Persona are necessary in your fight against Sehket. Sehket is a being that also does not belong in your world, he is from the Other Side, and he is gaining power that rivals Philemon," Elliot continued. "Even though you're a mere human on this side, the 'you' on the Other Side might have been a god, or demon, or some creature with amazing powers. Philemon has been seeking humans in this world who possess Persona of significant power. The Persona in other worlds can not confront Sehket in this world, so the humans who are connected with powerful Persona are used to summon them here...in order to fight Sehket."

That explained a lot.

Why Elliot looked so different, why he was able to do what he did to the theater window. Sensing the need for speed Feyd hurried out the door, checking his hood as he went.

Elliot’s explaination was the most amazing of the lot. When he was younger Feyd had imagined there might be something else out there, but it was always things like winged horses and fanciful beasts—never whole worlds. It was mind boggling. But Elliot and, and this Sarutobi Sasuke, were proof to it’s authentic.

Chin turning he followed the conversation as it switched between his companions, barely noticing as the child Sasuke reached out to latch onto Elliot’s finger. The child seemed rather fond of the other boy. At the mention of dreams Feyd finally glanced down at the infant the final proof was in the babe’s eyes. It had been why the actor had been so comforted by the red light back in the Velvet Room. He had seen such red before, such eyes before. It was the strange from his dream.

He was only half listening after that, nodding at appropriate points. Rumors of Sehket’s unnatural nature had circulated almost since the dictator’s rise, hearing them confirmed was nothing new.

Abruptly Feyd spoke for the first time since his so wanted explanation, his voice rather soft to hear, “Sarutobi Sasuke won’t do… I will call him Syrin." Glancing up at the two he gave a slight shrug, “He’s a character in The Pirate King, the protagonist’s best friend.”

Syrin seemed to approve, a half laugh punctuated with another tug on Elliot’s finger.

"Syrin?" Adalei repeated, saying the name slowly as though she was uncertain at the sound of it. "Sorry to say, but I've never heard of the story...The name seems nice, though."

"A name is good," Elliot commented, examining the sky as they walked. "You humans may not understand but...naming is an act of showing mastery. When you give someone else a name, you show that you are the one in control, that they must respond to you when you call them by the name you have given them."

As he spoke, Adalei suddenly grew pale, her eyes turned towards the ground. Elliot continued, "If you call him by his true name from the Other Side, Sarutobi Sasuke, you will relinquish control of him. After a time, he may not respond to you at all."

Elliot looked to the sky again, his smile suddenly tinged with sadness. "Adalei never calls me by my true name anymore. I've almost completely forgot it...and the day that I can't remember who I was on the Other Side..."

Adalei suddenly crossed behind Feyd, clinging to Elliot's arm, her eyes still lowered to the ground. The weight of guilt had settled on her shoulders.

"But I tried to trick her, honestly," Elliot admitted, his eyes returning to the road ahead. "I was tricking her into giving me back my name. I'd ask her to say it...and little by little, I was becoming less obedient." Lifting his face so that his eyes would meet Feyd's, he said, "Be cautious. We are not ones to care about the welfare of humans, even humans that are connected to us so intimately. On the Other Side, I was a carefree spirit of winter. If I regained all of my independence and power on this side, I would not care at all how many humans suffered as long as I was entertained. That is why Adalei will not let me have my name again."

As an afterthought, Rubido unwrapped and tore off a hunk of bread and left it gingerly where he had sat, just incase anyone was watching. Satisfied for the moment, the young man set off back down his alleyway.

Crowds of people were moving like a lazy river, the entire mass moving in synch with some people sliding past others. However, the crowd seemed to part and move around one woman, forming an empty space around her. Strangely, no one seemed to notice her at all, yet they continued moving around her in such a manner that she appeared to be a large stone standing in the river. A dreamlike quality wove a thin mist around the woman, making it difficult to distinguish any details of her when one looked at her directly.

Rubido looked up, his attention suddenly sparked. It took him a long second to take in the curiosities surrounding the fortuneteller, let alone register her command.
And it was a command; that alone was odd. Few strangers would say something like that; off hand commands seemed reserved for the "administration." And besides... it was rude. But whatever spite Rubido might have felt at being ordered around by a stranger, curiosity overcame it in an instant.
As the "young man" approached her, the thought he had fallen asleep back there briefly flickered through his mind; it seemed as if he but reached out and touched the figure before him, she would dissipate into mist...

Rubido buried his hands in his pockets; some questions just shouldn't be answered.

"Anything I can help you with, M'lady?"

"Of... course. Lets see... "

A strange request, but what could he say? He couldn't turn her down, and even if it was a trap of some sort... No, this was a little bit much to be a trap.
Unsure whether he was supposed to support her or not, Rubido looked around for an unoccupied seat- quite rare even on the very outskirts of Kensington.
'Ah.' But there was something that might do. He belatedly remembered his friend mentioning a construction job around this way, and with the Execution some hours off there probably wouldn't be anyone there. He led her about a block before he found the little construction site, and thankfully whoever was in charge had neglected to lock up their scraps yet. With an embarrassed look to his new acquaintance, Rubido found some discarded bricks and fashioned together a stable, if slightly rickety, bench with them and an old board. The wood was a tad thin, but it looked like it would certainly hold the Fortune Teller- just not the two of them at once.

"Sorry about that. Will this do? It's a bit... crowded to really find a good seat." He smiled at her beseechingly. Hopefully it would do, he didn't have any better ideas. "Unless you'd rather sit on the ground somewhere... Or you'd prefer a tavern…?" He hoped not, they generally didn't seat non-paying customers and he didn't have the money to order. Besides, Tired Old Ladies were generally not the tavern-going crowd.

"Young man, thank you for your aiding an old lady. I'm but a humble fortune teller, but in exchange for your kindness, I will change your fate into something magnificient."

Though her hands were small and frail, she was able to fan the cards and present them to Rubido. "Take a card."
