If a 75 year old woman commits suicide, would you be inclined to think she was mentally screwy in some way, or is that just the way life goes when someone's old?

The specific instane I had in mind then: a fairly well known author in her seventies kills her very ill, blind and bedridden husband, and then kills herself. She leaves a note along the lines of 'I wanted to leave while I was the person people still knew' or some such. Was she mentally ill, or was what she did logical given the situation (ie. her/their old age).
A discussion we had in a class today.

Yes. Killing yourself for purely vain reasons is crazy. Killing yourself to leave this world because the pain had allready gone beyond your limit is not.
A different number then before.
Sandy Allen and Rosalie Bradford. The last one I'm not too sure about, but I can't find an offical record holder for it.
