Lin didn't really ask to know that to travel to where Ahkshi was would take far more time than what they had. Unless they flew, well not Shiro or Lin, they could only cut it down by a few days flying. A larger creature like a Roc would be more practical.

Miyuki thought that many Uruloki could help with that travel problem, but then realized that Kyrie kept Uruloki a secret for a reason so that might be a moot point.

"Is there another town with a healer maybe closer by?" Miyuki finally asked.

"None that I would trust," Kyrie replied immediately, "not with something like this. Uruloki ... it's tempting to ask you to bring him here, but it would not go well, to have him leave Makshim ... do you think you could carry all of us to him?"

"I'm certain I could," the dragon agreed, "but the question is, is everyone willing to allow me to fly them? We would have to fly very high to avoid detection, and it would be at least a two day flight."

Kyrie looked around at the others. "Does anyone have any objections?" she asked them.

Lin glanced over at Earendil, recalling how he often got motion sickness from riding a roc. Probably due to the up and down motion as the wings were beating.

"Will you be alright? I know this sort of thing makes you a bit sick..." she murmured softly.

Did they even have anything for motion sickness?

Earendil set his jaw in determination.

"For the sake of a child's life, I can suffer through it," he said stoically.

Kyrie looked concerned when she heard their conversation. "You get sick?" she asked Earendil anxiously.

"I have on rocs, but not all rocs," Earendil replied with a grim smile. "Who knows? Maybe I'll be fine. Or maybe, since it's going to be a few days, it will cure me. Either way, I'm not going to let a child suffer or even die because of it. Let's go."

Kyrie nodded and opened one of her bags, pulling out a long rope.

"We'll tie everyone on," she said, walking over towards the dragon. "It'll be safer that way."

Lin nodded as she took Earendil's hand and followed Kyrie over to the dragon. Miyuki paused long enough to recall her Pokemon, and make sure Senka was safe in the bag. This would be the best way for the pets to travel.

"Tie us on how?" Miyuki asked as she hurried over.

"If we had enough rope I'd suggest harnesses but we don't, so it will have to be a simple loop around the waist," Kyrie said dryly. "It'll hurt if you fall, but at least we can pull you back up and you won't die."

"Cheery," Daeron muttered.

Iorlas put one hand on his arm. "It's the best we can do, given the circumstances," she murmured softly. "Please."

Daeron nodded.

"If you have wings of your own, I'll leave it up to you if you want to be tied on or not," Kyrie added, looking at Shiro, Kaito and Lin. "If you fall, it's not such a big deal since you can get yourselves back on."

As the group approached Uruloki, the enormous dragon spread its wings and lowered itself as far as it could to the ground to make it easier for them to climb up onto his back.

"Try sitting between my ridges," he suggested in his rumbling voice. "I'm sure it will be safer that way."

Perhaps not more comfortable, but with scales as hard as littinum, there was really no comfortable way to sit on him.

Lin nodded, this was true. While the backdraft of the air from Uruloki's wings might cause a problem if they fall off, they would be high enough that they could get their orientation before hitting the ground.

It took a bit to get everyone into place, with the number of people in their party and this would be the first time anyone (with the exception of Kyrie) had ridden on a real dragon.

Once everyone was secure, Uruloki took to the air. It was a bumpy ascent, but once he was high it smoothed out, and since his wings were forward, on his shoulders rather than attached to the length of his body, he didn't bounce when he beat his wings.

"So ... two days," Earendil said to Kyrie, already a bit pale in the face. "Is that with or without breaks?"

Kyrie couldn't help but smile, even though she knew something of what his stomach must be feeling like at the moment. "Without," she replied simply.

Earendil rubbed his face with his palms. This was going to be a long flight.

Andarien on the other hand was enjoying himself immensely.

"Look, Mi!" he exclaimed, pointing behind them, at the ground. "There's Suncliff! It doesn't look too far but it's been weeks since we were there!"

This would certainly be a long ride, Lin hoped that they could all handle two days without breaks.

Mi glanced over to see where he was pointing, and smiled at the cliff. It looked so far away now.

"It doesn't does it? It's much quicker to fly than anything else," she did admit.

It made her wonder how fast Shiro, Kaito and her mother could make a trip if they flew.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 22, 2013 7:12 pm

"Loads faster," Andarien grinned. "And it's a lot more fun! Maybe not for the Pokemon, since they can't be out, but for us, it's more fun anyways."

"What are the lands we'll be flying over?" Earendil asked Kyrie, figuring that since he was going to have to get used to flying, he might as well distract himself from his stomach. "And who lives in them?"

Kyrie pointed towards the south. "See the brown land there?" she asked him. "Lots of rock. That's Kelxit, Earth Elves - and between there and where we are now is Rheys, inhabited by humans."

Then she pointed to the east, the direction they were traveling. "We're currently over Xieland, which is also Earth Elves, and by tonight we'll be over Vintsand, which is Fire Elves. We'll spend an entire day over Vintsand, then we'll be passing over the Kelibrae/Garnelia border - humans and dark elves respectively - before we reach Shiezin, Fire Elves, which is where Ahkshi and I live."

"That's a lot of countries," Lin murmured thoughtfully.

It was hard to imagine to be passing over that many countries at once, especially since there had been only four countries back in the Four Lands. Hence it's name.

Kyrie chuckled at Lin. "And that's only our flight path," she pointed out. "I didn't even mention those too far south or north for us to pass over. And even still, this is only going to take us halfway across the continent. A little less, actually."

Earendil's mind was officially blown - though he had a feeling he could probably handle it a bit better if he were feeling better.

After being in the Four Lands for so long it was hard to imagine. Even though Lin knew there were continents in Gaia that were probably the same way too.

"It's different seeing a map and seeing it for real overhead," Lin admitted.

They had seen the map after all, during a few of their stops, so they knew there were a lot of countries. It was just different went you were flying over several of them and had a time frame (flying) to compare against their normal travel method.

"It is," Kyrie agreed, "and both ways are magnificent. Though I will be the first to admit," she added with a sheepish smile, "though this is faster, and the view is breathtaking, I do prefer land travel ... when Uruloki and I aren't bonded, at least when we're traveling, I don't feel quite right."

The comment made Earendil curious. "What-" he began; and then he had to take a gulp of air to hold his stomach down before trying again. "What's so different about when you're traveling?"

Kyrie smiled, her eyes growing soft. "Because when I'm home," she replied, quiet enough that it was difficult to hear over the sound of the wind, "I don't have to worry about anything. It's safe."

"That makes sense," Lin murmured softly.

So it was unknown if anyone caught that. Though she could see why Kyrie would feel that way, there were dangers in traveling.
