Devon nodded. "Of course." He made sure she was comfortable, before hesitating a moment. "Hold on." he murmured, moving off to the bathroom.
When he returned he was on all fours. He shook his fur before leaping onto the bed to lay beside her.
He figured that she always found his wolf form comforting while she slept.

Lark yawned and smiled petting Devon's furry head softly while using his side as a pillow. "Well hello stranger haven't seen you in awhile." Lark joked closing her eyes to sleep listening to his quiet breathing. "Your fur is getting thicker I hope you know." she commented before going to sleep

Devon sighed in a kind of wolfish chuckle at her joke. He wasn't surprised though. Winter was well on it's way. He needed a thicker coat.
It was nice to finally have her relaxed. And if she awoke from nightmares she had him to cling to. He didn't mind. At least she could sleep in peace and he could watch over her.

The week passed by slowly with little trouble. As promised, Devon stayed with Lark as she slowly regained her strength. They were careful not to push too hard or anything strenuous. They made good progress, but Devon remain cautious.
Progress was iffy with finding more about the gathering rouges. They seemed to be grouping and sighted in several areas, but before any of the pack tracking got close they were gone.
Devon started to suspect that someone was ratting on there movement. He have his pack watch the other packs carefully but quietly. If they were to fine the mole they couldn't let him know he was on the him.
Now they were going in circles and Devon knew it was time to step in. If he didn't push this farther and find the rouges...
He couldn't afford to let them roam.
Now he just had to break it to Lark.

Lark was at the desk in the living room working on a project for school now that the new semester started she had something to keep her occupied while Devon worked and she stopped clinging do Devon through the connection so much even through she did do it once or twice for comfort and practice she couldn't tell if Devon was happy about it or not but he never spoke on it he just comforted her when she reached out to him even though she couldn't repeat talking to him yet emotions were clear as day. Right now as she worked Devon's parent were napping on the floor by her feet both Lark and Kaleb were getting along alright even though she still didn't have the courage to reach out and pet him like she would do Devon and she only did it with Theresa when she seemed to want it by poking her nose in her lap or under her hands. Right now she was flipping through her camera and some other drawings looking for inspiration

Devon walked up his drive, irritated. How many time would those blasted unruly, rabid Weres slip through their defenses! He was about ready to throw his briefcase at anything that so much and looked at him funny.
He took a deep breath to try and calm himself. He needed to at least have his head when he talked to Lark. There was no other choice, it was time he joined them. Maybe his presence would put some fire under some butts. Whether it boost his pack or made that enemy make a mistake, he didn't care. He just wanted progress.
He opened his door to see Lark at the table with his parents in wolf form resting around her. It made him smile slightly. It was cute and the two looked nearly harmless. He guessed they were that way for several reason. To help Lark grow comfortable with the wolf, and because they felt like it. And most importantly it was easier to guard her that way. He'd been having a few of the gang tail her to school and back as well. He was pretty sure she hadn't noticed yet.
"Hey, everyone." he greeted them, trying and failing at sounding somewhat cheerful. "How is that project coming Lark

"You mean besides giving me a headache? Slow going." Lark said looking up at him tired but giving him a smile as both wolves raised their heads to watch Devon come in the door as Lark put down her camera where she was flipping through picture unfortunately none had Devon's wolf form in it from that night they met and she just now figured out Devon must have deleted it when he got a hold of it. Lark got up and went to the door to give him a hug and whisper in his ear playfully. "You owe me a new picture wolf boy."

Devon hugged her back. He flicked a quick look at his parents as Lark whispered in his ear. His father wasn't interested, but his mother had amusement twinkling in her eyes. He looked away in irritated embarrassment. He wish they didn't have that good of hearing.
"Maybe later." he whispered back, concealing his feeling. "Perhaps when I come back." he added in a normal tone.

"What do you mean come back you just came home from work?" Lark asked him truly confused now and she couldn't feel his emotions from the connection and that scared her some she looked at his parent to see if they picked up on anything they didn't seem to and that confused her more.

Devon sighed, looking between all the faces that looked expectantly at him.
"I need to join the other in the search. We've reached a dead end. If I join, it will boost moral and organize the search a bit more. And if we're lucky the rouge will get nervous and slip up." He rubbed a temple to help keep a rising headache at bay. "Either way I can't wait around any longer. I'm sorry, Lark."
He looked down are her concerned.

Lark felt like the wind had been knocked out of her she looked at him in shock with tears welling up in her eyes as fear hit her almost making her faint she felt ill.She sniffed holding back a sob and back away from him with out a word and then ran up the stairs into her room shutting the door before staring to cry.

Devon started after her, her name on his lips. However his father blocked the path, with a growl.
"Well I have to at least say, good-bye." he growled.
His mother padded to the living room and shifted, bringing a blanket around her.
"Let me talk to her and calm her down, There's food in the fridge." she said. "You can't always protect her. And you shouldn't spoil her so much."
Devon grumbled something incoherent and stormed of into the kitchen. He hated feeling how upset she was. It made him want to run to her and comfort her.
So it angered him that his parents were a little right. He could do that later.

His mother knocked on the door of Lark's room a few minutes later. "Can I come in?"

Lark was on the floor of her room sobbing. She didn't understand why he had to leave maybe the rabid's had went away or went there at all maybe that was why nothing had turned up maybe what Devon really wanted was to get away from her maybe she really was a ball and chain maybe he just wanted to run free after that was what wolves liked to do the full moon was a few days away after all. But all of it wasn't making her feel any better in fact it made her feel worse not that the thought of another monster lose made it any better either in fact it made her feel small, alone, and vulnerable it felt like Devon had left her already even if he was down stairs when his mother knocked on the door she couldn't speak she didn't even want to open the door. Did Devon leave already? But how could her not say goodbye? Lark sobbed harder miserable but she reached up and opened the door shaking.

Theresa looked down at the sobbing girl and smiled sadly.
"You poor girl." she said, pulling Lark into her arms. She murmured soothing words in the girl's ear trying to sooth her. She couldn't talk to Lark at all if she was this incoherent.
She guided her over to the bed as if she were a small child. "Shh, Lark. Calm yourself. Devon's not leaving yet. And not forever. In fact, he seemed to be pacing like a crazy man down stairs."
She could hear he angry stomping strides. It was hard to ignore.

"No but he is leaving." Lark managed to get out no where near calm but she was coherent the fact that Devon was shut off from her was also not helping because she had nothing to hold on to nor was Devon the one talking to her instead it was his mother. "And what if something happens...then one of us will be gone forever,"

"My dear. Devon can handle himself and he has scores of people who will fight to protect him and you." Theresa said calmly. "You can't keep him with you all the time. His position requires him to leave sometimes. And you need to stand on your own two feet." she said gently. "He loves you. That's why he goes. If these rouges have anything to do with the one that attacked you, my son will not let a single one close to you. So can't you at let try to be brave for him? You know he will come back to you no matter what. We don't even think the situation is that dire."
She looked down at the fear stricken girl and sighed. She didn't think her words were getting through to her.
"Bad things happen, Lark. They happen along with the good. Worrying about want could happen... it only harms you. Nothing is going to get either of you. Many of us will be with you and the majority will be with him." She paused. "Why do you think I came up here instead of him?"
