╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗It was only about an hour until closing (or would be, if Alexander had opened today) and finally they had all of the various vines and bushes cut and identified. Alexander now sat cutting various leaves and flowers, harvesting whatever parts were useful as they sat in the finally available chairs. "So...you had a rough night?" He said after a moment of silence between them, looking at her. "I don't intend to intrude, but I figure I should ask at least once more before letting it actually drop. Just in case there's possibly something I could do." He said, actually feeling quite intrusive though somewhat worried as well.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Her eyes had been closed for awhile now, her chest rising and falling slowly after a hard days work at the shop. The sorting had taken forever it seemed, but the time had gone by with pleasant talks and laughs, so it wasn't all too painful. This was her job after all, so Danny couldn't really complain about it. It was what she came here to do everyday.
At the sound of Alexander's voice, her eyes opened and she turned her head towards him. "Yeah... it was one of those nights... where you wake up a lot, you know, and don't get a lot of sleep." She honestly was touched that Alexander was so worried about her, it was just going to be difficult for her to come right out with it that she had had a rough night because of her random dreams about him and that Louis had stopped by for a visit. It was difficult enough to speak with Alexander about Lou, he always tensed up, so why would she want to talk about something that made him uncomfortable? ━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ Who am I with ? -- Alexander

He said as he tossed another stripped vine into the pile to be gotten rid of. "Though it doesn't really happen so much now as it did when I first came here. I would swear that I did not get a single week of good sleep." He said, starting on a piece of shrubbery and suppressing a shudder at the memory of that time. ╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

"Why couldn't you sleep back then?" she asked, curious. She didn't know much about his past other than the few things he had already told her about it, and she might as well get to know him better if things were going somewhere between them. ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander set his scissors down in his lap gently. "When I moved here..." He began, trying to think of the best way to word his story. "I was leaving some very serious things behind. One of which being my...family." He said, though that wasn't entirely true, as all of his kind were related one way or another. "It was because of them that someone I loved dearly had lost their life in a very violent and tragic way." He ran his hand through his hair with a deep sigh and went back to trimming his shrub. "I was...a precarious wreck very close to falling over the edge when I came here." He admitted quietly. He knew she wouldn't understand, at least not completely, but he felt compelled to give her some glance into what his life had been like without her, however small it may be. "At a time like that, it is hard to sleep and very hard to willingly wake up."╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

"I'm so sorry," she said quietly, gazing at him with her eyes focused on his face. She looked down at the scissors in his lap and after a moment of silence, she said, "If you don't mind me asking... who did you lose?" He figured it was best for her to think it had simply been a friend rather than having to tell her it was her past self. He perked up a tad then and smiled at her. "But that was years ago, and things are much, much better now." He said, tossing aside the shrub stem. "Better than I thought things could ever get at the time. Of course, you came along and that would have been enough to make anyone better. Though I don't recommend a drowning scare as a way to meet new people." Had this person been a lover? The very thought made her stomach knot itself. But with the confirmation that it had only been a good friend, she exhaled quietly. At his comment of things getting better since then, Danny's frown turned into a smile, and soon enough she was beaming at his mention of the two of them when they had met in person for the first time. She laughed then, letting her position on her chair switch to sitting on her knees, still facing Alexander. "Oh yes, meeting you there was just peachy, wasn't it?" she asked, her light hearted sarcasm evident in her speech. "Now that I think about it, that actually was the first time I met you, in person anyways." she said, looking away for a moment to think about that day at the lake. Her eyes took on that far away look as her thoughts roamed all the way back to when she had introduced herself for the first time to him through the pond in her front yard. He sat back after stripping another vine and gathered up the bundles they'd made, stacking them by his chair and deciding he'd put them in water to finish later. "I've an idea, for tomorrow." He said. "I didn't end up there on accident that day, though I didn't expect to find you in such a predicament. I was there because the Naiads that grabbed you had displaced a sisterhood of Nixies that were living there. I met the youngest in a pond nearby and she told me what was going on. I was thinking that perhaps it would be interesting to pay them a visit. The youngest one gave me her flute, we should be able to call them with it and they may come if they can." He said, leaning back in his chair.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

"Yes really, and no they're more like...cute...frog...girls...?" he said, trying his best to not make them sound disgusting. "And talk, most likely. Humans tend to fascinate them, but they're generally quite shy. There have been a few instances where a young one has lured a human into their pond to befriend them when the older ones weren't around and not realized that they need to breathe air until it was too late." He said honestly. "Though they do value human life a great deal more than the Naiads who drown humans for sport." ╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Knowing him, he was probably trying to explain it the best he could. With all the creatures that Danny had already seen, these were probably just as fascinating as the others. "Well that's good. I'd hate to have to relive that experience," she said, referring to almost drowning.
