God willing they make it out of that elevator, out of that layer without anything else chasing after them or worse, the elevator choosing the malfunction and drop them straight into the mouth of death. Mercedes was not a religious girl, no, perhaps not ever but there was absolutely no point in keeping the faith in the back of her mind that some higher being was on their side. Miracles happened all the time, ******** them scientists. Except not.
Although she was aware she was of the last ones out and to the portal, Mercedes had no problem with this. She didn't need to be hysterical, she didn't FEEL hysterical, so making a total rush through it to get back to HOME SWEET ******** HOME, DEUS was completely irrational in her mind. Instead she lingered as long as she was allowed, staring blankly back at the cave behind them. There was no way of getting back in there. It was surreal to think she'd just been hundreds and hundreds of feet below there with nothing but her mortality. Hadjoc was beginning to sound like a good friend to her and she hated it.
Come on, let's go.. she glared now and waited until she was on the other side of the portal to de-summon Hadjoc. Deaths or not.. what did she care? She was just glad it wasn't her.
And yet on her way back to her room to start her report... she teared up and threw herself on her bed. The perfect lack of personal touch at Deus was... going to get the better of her, she feared.

Everything seemed to move slowly to Michael, people just didn’t seem to know what to do... there was no leaders.
Because they were...
Well actually he didn’t know about Caelius.
He sighed, watching detached as the guy who had been flaunting around shirtless earlier shot off a flare gun into the sky. It was kind of pretty, would have been prettier shot into whatever that things face was.
He glanced back to the tables where there seemed to be a something going on with Sandy's backpack. He briefly caught a glimpse of a USB before the girl with it took off back through the portal.
And that seemed like a signal to everyone else as they all started pouring back through. He heaved a sigh, he best leave as well. He had to get this tablet... somewhere. They'd gone through so much trouble to retrieve them.
...maybe the life labs?
After that he distantly thought he might try and find that girl with the USB. It might have answers for them...

Madison heaved a sigh of relief as she realized Robert and Jordan were both okay - selfish though the thought may have been. She swallowed, wiped at her eyes, then squared her shoulders and walked through the portal.

When Otto left, Eva began to look around a little more frantically, taking slow timid steps towards the portal. It wasn't until she finally spotted Reine did she relax, her tense shoulders sagging and her expression becoming one of tired relief.
It looked like her friends had made it out. Good. That was all that she could ask for right now.
Moving to the Portal, she left after the others.

That was it for her. Caves were now officially on her DO NOT LIKE list. If she ever had to enter one again, there was going to be hell to pay. And maybe clinging. Possibly. Infinity didn't bother to stick around. She left as quickly as she could without looking like she was in a hurry to do so.
