Of course every last one of the Pineco's words went straight over the boy's head. He lacked the ability to understand the speech of Pokemon, and he didn't anticipate that was going to change; however considering he wasn't faced with a sudden explosion, he could assume it hadn't been something about killing him. Pinceo were native to his homeland, and thus he was well aware of they penchant for self-destructing.

Dealing with a Pinceo was akin to dealing with a ticking time bomb rigged to blow at the slightest provocation.

One hand still resting on the hilt of his sword, the boy looked into the creatures eyes. They were said to be the window to the soul by those of a more poetic nature, and many a warrior learned to read they opponent's movements based on the motion of their feet and gaze.

The glances of the Pinceo looked curious...questioning. Asking why he was there perhaps?

"I was sent here to find an item by someone in dire need of it" The boy answered truthfully "I remain however because above all else I seek to grow stronger. There are plenty of willing opponents here..." To him this was certainly truth, he had been challenged several times since arriving, and only one encounter had he openly worked to avoid "...of course the unwilling shall be left alone."

"A half-hearted battles aids no one, no matter the victor."

The Pineco grinned in a way that spoke volumes about it's sanity. Everyone knew not to talk to a craze pokemon, and that the answering of it's questions were the same as falling into it's trap as it smiled deepen quite a bit.

(To arms ...to arms ...my kingdom for a horsea)

It would declares loudly ....as the Pineco was now giving Raven's it's full attention as it seemed to want to go to battle then and there. The pokemon was more than ready for a fight ....right at that moment.

((Aww...well goodnight!))

Well, Raven wasn't certain about it's response, but he was certain about one thing; he wasn't particularly keen on battling on battling a Pineco. Oh yes, he was indeed a child of Johto. He knew well the Pokemon's habit for going BOOM.

Much as he might desire a battle, a sudden explosion could very well through a bit of a wrench into the remainder of his training.

Taking one step back, Raven would raise his fist to his mouth and gently cough; clearing his throat. Then, taking a single deep breath...he would suddenly thrust his index finger in the general direction of the area behind the Pinceo and scream the words "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!?" In a perfect imitation of both surprise and horror.

The very instant the Pineco so much as glanced away the child would bolt in the opposite direction. Attempting to fight a living bomb was simply the epitome of foolishness.

Though how well would such a trick work ....as the Pineco glares at him. Just how stupid did the boy think he was ...yet, as the seconds ticked by ...beads of sweat appeared on the pokemon's body. The want to turn around and look started to nag him ...this was a very strange pineco, and whatever behind him ...might be even stranger as he tries to resist the impulse to turn around and look.

Slightly rigged, Raven would be forced to keep standing there. The Pinceo wasn't looking yet...apparently it wasn't stupid...but that didn't mean it wasn't curious. Still standing there Raven would allow his eyes to widen, his jaw going slack as he took the faintest step backwards; intentionally tripping so he hit the ground as if out of fear. Let the Pinceo get more curious...

If need be he'd scurry on all fours once it looked away. He wouldn't likely need much of a head start against a Pokemon with no legs...

The Pineco was holding out, but he wasn't attacking either. It was that ...curiousty that held him. He wanted to look ...oh how he wanted to look, but he wasn't willing to let the boy get away either.

Afterall, he hadn't had a good conversation in weeks. And here was someone to talk to ....even if he didn't speak good pokemon. It didn't matter there was voices in his head saying look while others say go boom ...he wasn't sure which to listen to ...but he was hearing more booms than .....looks at the moment.

Though one final loud voice yells out look .....while the second said boom.

That meant that he would look and then go boom.

IF Raven wasn't fast enough he would find out what sound the Pineco makes when it explodes in the woods

There it was, that look he'd been waiting for...and there he was, running fast as a 12 year old could possible manage. Faster then a fat kid running after a guy in a giant hotdog suit! All right, bad analogy, but the moment the Pinceo had turned enough Raven had flipped over onto his hands and feet, taking off like a member of a highschool track and field team deeper into the forest.

He'd be well out of range of the blast...he hoped...

((I'm actually not sure if that was a roll to evade or advance in the forest...))

The resulting boom that followed would let him know just how close he was in being quite literally blown away. The resulting aftershock would bow a few trees ...as it would seem for the moment Raven was free.

How the forest had managed to stay standing this long with Pinceo in the area was officially a mystery to Raven. There couldn't possibly be just one in the area, and they only needed the smallest of reasons to explode. Most survived of course, but the same couldn't always be said for their surroundings and the creatures living within.

A Pinceo was easily as dangerous to it's enemies as it's allies.

Well, it wasn't his problem any longer...now he just had to locate what he really wanted from this place...

Though he would find himself going from one problem to the next as this time a Ferroseed would drop from the trees. Though unlike it's counter-part ...the Pineco it didn't seem to take much notice of him at all. Instead, she would continued to burrow into the ground ...she was going to get as deep underground as possible.

Afterall ...she was determined to someday turn into a tree. The word seed was in her name, so it was a foregone conclusion that she could do that. Thus, the reason for her burying herself as deeply into the ground as possible.

Thus, as long as Raven didn't stop her ...he could simply pass her by.

Raven would find himself slightly conflicted for a moment as he watched the Ferroseed. On the one hand here was an ideal opponent for one of his Pokemon to fight. Weaker defense then most of the Steel-Types in the area, and highly flammable by nature; however, had he not told the Pinceo he wouldn't fight an unwilling opponent?

This Pokemon certainly didn't look interested in a fight...

Shaking his head faintly, the boy would turn away from the metallic seed and venture deeper into the forest. He'd leave it be. There were likely more interesting opponents to be found in this place...

Though while he left one seed behind ...another would appear. Actually, it was more of the same ...as the pineco would drop in front of him again ...as it glares daggers at the group. Eyes narrowed to points he wasn't so willing to let them get away this time ....as he twists around like a top. A big smile was on his face ....as he came to a stop ...and then twists from left to right.

No, he wasn't going to let them escape this time ....

((That's convenient because the Aron just countered twice in a row if I've paid any attention, which I probably haven't.))

The wretched Aron was attacking. Again. Tsuki sighed in frustration. Yes this thing was more trouble than it was worth. But he couldn't break his Heatmors pride. Doing so would be emotionally killing him, making him feel unfit to battle. And that, he could not allow. If they couldn't hit it this time then he'd attempt to flee. It was either risk never leaving or getting to safety.

"One last Lick. If it does nothing then the battle costs more than it is worth and we leave." Tsuki stated to Bane. The Heatmor nodded. Tounge lashing out, he'd be sure to strike it down where it stood. If they could paralize it then they could simply steal the item. Well, that's what Bane thought at least. His trainer would be the one to decide that.

A faint sigh would escape Raven's lips as he would place his thumb and forefinger upon his brow and slowly begin rubbing it. It would seem that the path of destiny was paved with exploding seeds for him...at least, that's what he'd thought if he even believed in destiny. The whole thing was complete nonsense as far as he was concerned. The ramblings of the weak willed to cover up their own shortcomings by saying it was the fault of Fate.

Things only happened for a reason if you made them happen for one.

Gritting his teeth briefly, Raven's hand would fall to his belt. Fine, he'd just have to make an example of this Pineco; with any luck, he'd show the other's what happens to those that face him heedlessly.

Victory wasn't certain, but the odds were in his favour. Luck, now that was something real. Like the flip of a coin, there was always a chance for things to turn in either direction.

Grasping the third ball upon his belt, Raven would release the one Pokemon he hadn't released since leaving the gym. The one that little by little he'd found himself using a little less in this place...

A harsh clanking caw resounded in the small area as Crowe appeared upon the field, his steely body shimmering brightly in the sunlight. Twisting his head slightly, the Skarmory would ruffle his feathers then begin preening himself; taking the time to ditch two smaller, loose feathers. The dagger like plumage would sink into the ground almost instantly.

Setting his taloned feet more firmly against the ground, Crowe would look to his opponent before straightening out his neck and beak, holding them at the ready. Yellow eyes would gleam, a familiar old phrase touching his tongue ">En Guarde<" He would provide the Pineco a moment to defend itself. Then and only then would he strike.

Pokemon: Skarmory [M]
Name & Level: Crowe, Lv 5
[Temperament] Bold
Bio: Crowe was first encountered upon the second ring of Beginner Island amidst a crater. With wings that shimmered like steel, the bird no less landed upon the ground and challenged Raven to a duel directly. Battle fiercely against Genn, the conflict seemed to take an eternity as the two near immovable objects clashed. With a swift hand, Raven was able to throw a single PokeBall and capture the bird...with a slight chase soon to follow. Struck by the ball in the air, the capsule soon flew over the side of the crater, forcing Raven to pursue it by sliding down the side upon Genn's back. During the process of which the boy encountered a Sneasel...and soon both he and it were hanging off the crater by a branch. After a struggle and much dramatics, Raven was able to retrieve the ball, and save the little Dark-Type he had accidentally placed in a perilous situation. Since then Crowe has shown a strong sense of honour, reacting to nearly every battle as if it were a duel with that very thing on the line.

The zangoose would stop in her tracks, dirt in her eyes that stung and clouded her vision. She stood on her hind legs now, eyes squinting as her tail flicked from side to side. Well that was a good way to start off, get blinded. She flicked an ear, no matter, then, she'd just see in another way.

Instead of focusing on her eyes, she focused on what she still had left, her nose. Sniffing the air to get the Stunfisks scent, she kept her claws out and together as if shields, ready to block him when he came.
