Arielle nodded lightly and didn't say anything as Kedrick gently cupped her face in his hand. She leaned her head in closer to his hand, feeling so much more comfortable and a smile on her face. It was like none of the others existed, even though she could still feel their eyes on them. Her heart started to flutter a bit as his forehead touched her own. Even with the hesitation, she was afraid that her beating heart could be heard in all the silence.
When Kedrick kissed her, it seemed like the world was frozen and the only thing that mattered was just them. She had to resist any urge to move in and wrap her arms around him, like in one of those romance films. As he pulled away, a small lovesick smile came onto her face as she looked back into his eyes. It wasn't until Kyla spoke again that she remembered that there were others watching. She smiled shyly and pushed some hair behind her ear, not knowing what to say.

Kedrick smiled slightly, looking a little bit embarrassed. He glanced at his watch. "You know..." He said, looking over at Arielle with a smile. "We ought to get going if we want to see Athena." He stood to his feet and took her hand to pull her up. "Do you have to go?" Kyla cried in distress, standing up quickly and grabbing Kedrick's free hand in both of hers. "Yeah, sorry kiddo. We'll come back to visit again soon okay?" He said with a smile. Kyla frowned slightly. "Promise?" "Promise." "Okay. Bring me a niece or nephew the next time you come." Kedrick stared at her in shock, his cheeks flushed red, then he started to laugh. His shoulders shook and he placed a hand on Kyla's head to keep himself upright. "What?!?" Kyla asked indigently. "N-Nothing." Kedrick gasped, straitening and composing himself. She frowned darkly. "Riiiight...." She said in a way so like Samiki that Kedrick had to smile. In the blink of an eye, the rest of Kedrick's siblings had gathered in a cluster around them. Keira held a respectful distance, but she did come closer at least. Kedrick leaned down, kissing to top of Raine's head, tugging playfully on Gwen's braid, ruffled Terra's hair, and reached out to lightly cuffed Keira's cheek. Keira pulled back to get out of reach but Kedrick's hand still lightly brushed her cheek. She muttered darkly under her breath but Arielle was sure she saw her lips turn up slightly in a reluctant smile.

"Is it really that time already?" Arielle asked, seeming to finally remember that she wasn't just out today to see his home. She wanted to ask him about what time was it so she could mentally know how many hours, minutes, and seconds she had left before her dreaded meeting with Jonesy. However, she refused to ask that since she was around Kedrick's family, and the one thing she didn't want to do was bring them into her troubling situation.
She felt herself smile as Kyla didn't seem to want either of them leave at all. The smile was still there until she mentioned that the next time that they came that she wanted to see a niece or nephew. She blushed and was speechless as to what to say, but was more surprised when Kedrick started laughing. In the end though, she could only smile lightly, the blush still tinting her cheeks.
It was nice to meet his family and it surprised her in how quickly the rest of his siblings came up to part with them. "It was nice meeting you all," Arielle said sweetly once Kedrick was finished, "I can't wait to see you all again." Her calm sweet smile was shown on her face but her doubting thoughts returned back to her, and she only hoped that it was true. She looked at Kedrick, wanting to know if it was now time for them to leave or not. At the same time, she really didn't want to leave his home or his nice family, but she knew she couldn't hide forever.

Kedrick glanced over at Arielle, still smiling, but he could sense that she was troubled. He found that he had been getting pretty good at that lately, and Arielle was deffinetly worried now. "C'mmon." He said with a smile. "We'll see you all later." Kedrick stepped over to the door, a hand placed reassuringly on Arielle's back. He tipped his head backwards, catching a last glimps of his sister's through the doorway and waving to them. Slowly, almost reluctently, he closed the door behind the two of them. He had felt so safe there, if only for a moment, like he didn't have to face this afternoon, didn't have to see Arielle terrified and hurt. 'Maria.... He thought, his brow narrowing slightly in concintration as he opened the car door. 'I'm really counting on you for this one...Please....Don't let me down...'

Arielle nodded and walked over to Kedrick, ready to go. She gave one more small wave to his family before reaching the door. As they were walking out, she could feel his hand on her back and felt a little calmer, but her little moment of calm wasn't enough to make her feel completely better. As the door closed, Arielle felt like her moment of safety was now over. Not even visiting the hospital where Athena was at would make her feel safe. She now didn't want to look at her time, feeling like her moments of freedom would leave her in a heartbeat. She got in the car and fastened her seat belt, sighing before giving a small smile at Kedrick. "After you introduce me to Athena, I would've met all of your siblings," Arielle said pleasantly, but somewhat unsure of just how cheerful she sounded.

"yeah," Kedrick said, smiling over at her. "If you're buckled up then we'd best be on our way." He said, also hoping that he sounded more cheerful than he felt.
In a few minutes, Kedrick had gotten the car started and the two of them headed down the road in the direction of the hospital. Kedrick's brain wasn't really on the road as he drove, it was on this afternoon, on Jonesy. But he had put in a CD for the drive so that Arielle didn't have to question his silence. Finally Kedrick pulled the car into a space in the hospital's large parking lot. "Here we are." He said with a small smile. He pushed open his car door and stepped out, stretching his arms over his head as a warm breeze rustled the matieral of his shirt. He smiled and dropped his arms to his sids leaning on the roof of the car as Arielle stepped out of her own door. Kedrick smiled sleepily at her. "Ready to go?" He asked, circling around the car and lacing his finger's through hers.

Arielle nodded and leaned back in her seat, just staring out of her window.
Just like Kedrick, Arielle's mind kept going back to what awaited her later that day and the conversation she had with him last night. She was grateful for the music that was playing right now, because the silence wouldn't help her mind at all. When they pulled up to the parking lot, Arielle made sure to keep her thoughts at bay for the time being, even though they still lurked there. She got out of the car and took in the fresh air before looking at Kedrick with a small smile and intertwining her fingers with Kedrick. "Most definitely. And you look ready to go to bed."

Kedrick smiled back at her, giving her fingers a reassuring squeeze. "It's the sun." He explained. "It's so warm it makes me sleepy." He said, remembering a day that seemed a very long time ago when they had had a similar conversation upon coming out of the small restaurant. The two of them walked across the parking lot, gravel crunching under foot as their feet scuffed across the pavement. They stepped into the cool, air conditioned foyer of the hospital, a young woman, with mousy brown hair pulled up in a bun sat at the front desk. Her small square glassed slid slightly to the end of her noes as she bent over some paperwork. Kedrick stepped up to the desk, tapping it lightly with one finger. "Excuses me." He said with a smile. The young woman startled from her work, dropped her pen on the ground and looked up quickly. She returned his smile, looking slightly embarrassed at having been so involved in her work. "Good morning, can I help you?" She asked pleasantly, a trace of a laugh in her voice. "Yes, we're here to see Athena Suwa, would that be possible?" He asked. "Uhm" She held up a finger, ducking quickly to grab her pen and thumbing though a stack of alphabetized documents. "Suwa...." She murmured softly. "Suwa, Suwa....Here we go! Athena Suwa." She pulled out a document and pushed her glasses up slightly to look at it. "Yes of course, She's in room 19A" "Thank you." Kedrick said, nodding slightly to the busy, flustered, though not doubt kind young woman.
A few moments later Kedrick and Arielle where taken up the room 19A by a gray haired doctor, who cautioned them not to let 'young Ms. Suwa' As he put it, exert herself to much. The doctor had then left them by the door. Kedrick smiled at Arielle, and pushed open the door slightly, knocking on the door frame as he did so. "Come in..." Came the soft, absent reply. When the two of them stepped in, Athena was looking absently out the window. Though Arielle could only see her back at first, she could tell a lot about her even at first glance. Athena was frail, the pale, blue-white hospital gown hung loosely over her thin shoulder. Her hair was long, falling to the middle of her back. It was very pale blond in color, almost white in face, She clearly didn't spend enough time in the sun. "Hello?" Kedrick called teasing to catch his younger sister's attentions. The girls head whipped around and she saw Kedrick and Arielle for the first time. "Kedrick!" She cried, throwing her thin legs over the side of the bed and stumbling over, all but falling against him. It seemed that Kedrick, as the only boy in the family, was well thought of by most all his sisters, with the possible exception of Keira. "Hey! Hey careful!" He said with a smile, backing her up and sitting her back down on the bed. "The doctor said we had to keep you calm...we is Arielle and I." He said, gesturing Arielle forward. " Athena, I'd like you to meet my...my girlfriend, Arielle." He finished with conviction.

"Sure," Arielle said with a teasing smile, "Put all of your blame on the sun. I'm sure it doesn't mind." She giggled and walked with him into the hospital where she was met with coolness of the air conditioner. They continued walking until they reached the front desk and Arielle noticed a young woman working. She seemed so busy that she barely noticed that they existed until Kedrick said something to her. She waited patiently for the young woman to get all of her things together before assisting them in finding where Athena's room was. When they found out where Kedrick's sister's room was, she thanked her as well before walking off with him to find the room.
Finding the room didn't take them too long to find, and after their instruction from a doctor, they entered the room. Arielle hadn't been in a hospital since her parents died, so it felt somewhat weird of her to be back in one again. It seemed like both she and Kedrick kept catching people when they were barely aware that they were there until Kedrick said something. When Athena's attention, was brought to them, she realized how she, like his other sisters, responded when Kedrick was there. It really did seem like he was well loved and respected, but since they were family, it shouldn't have been so much of a surprise to her. Finally, the time of her introduction with Athena came and when she was once again called Kedrick's girlfriend, or even announced as such, she couldn't help but blush lightly. She walked up to them and smiled sweetly, her blush not fading away anytime soon. "It's nice to meet you, Athena. I do hope that you'll feel better very soon."

Athena smiled at Arielle. "I feel fine." She said, reaching over and tugging Kedrick's sleeve lightly. "And you can quote me on that when the good doctor pries you with questions about how I react with 'normal company.'" She said, making quotes with her fingers. Kedrick smiled and sat down on the bed beside her. " I don't think that'll be necessary, though it's nice to see that you're as insightful as ever." He teased lightly, bumping her shoulder with a smile. "But still, don't push yourself, rest easy for a few days or you know you'll catch every stomach bug that goes around." Athena smiled patiently at him, but quickly directed her attention to Arielle. She scooted over, tucking her thin legs underneath her and patted the space she had made on the bed. "Common, Sit down." She said, looking up at Arielle. Athena gazed at Arielle curiously, they couldn't have been much more different in appearance, but there was something familiar there in Athena that Arielle could see in her. "Tell me about yourself Arielle," She said with a smile, rolling over onto her stomach and propping her chin up on her elbows. "I ought to know a bit about my dear older brother's girlfriend."

She's so sweet, Arielle thought with a small smile and a light giggle when she told them to quote what she said to her doctor. She still didn't say anything as Kedrick conversed with her. In just a few seconds, Athena's attention was brought back to Arielle and she only nodded when she asked her to sit beside her, which she did. She smiled back at her and gave her question some thought. What could she say about herself? Was there anything that was just that exciting about her? For a brief second, she almost wanted to tell her whole entire background, but she couldn't do that, especially after Athena needed all the rest she could get and of course to be free from the stress of worrying about her brother's girlfriend.
She had a thoughtful look on her face, almost resembling Winnie the Pooh's "Think, Think, Think" pose before finally answering. "Well, I live with my grandparents, well, kinda. I live with Kedrick now to make sure his home doesn't turn into a pigsty. I'm a junior this year and I have a best friend named Maria. I can cook, but not as good as my grandparents," she paused, giving Kedrick a small smile and shifting her attention back to Athena, "And I love reading, maybe a little too much. And... Hmmm... I think that's all that I can think of to say." She finished, letting her hands rest in her lap.

Athena listened with rapt attention as Arielle spoke, giving her the impression of a sponge soaking up water. She smiled when she finished, shifting back up into a sitting position and tucking her hands in her lap. "Reading is one of my favorite things to do...often one of the only things I'm allowed to do but..." She trailed off with a thoughtful frown but quickly looked up, returning to the present. "I can't cook well though, maybe you could teach me some time, Once I'm better!" Kedrick smiled softly at his little sister, she still seemed so childish to him, even at fifteen. He thought that it must be because she had spent so much of her life, and in turn her childhood, in the hospital. As a little girl, she had always been either too weak, feverish, ill or too busy recovering to spend time just being a kid.

"I'd love to teach you how to cook, Athena," Arielle said with a bright smile before continuing, "We'd probably have to go over to my grandparent's place though. All of their recipes are there. There's even some that my parents created when they were still alive. But trust me, it'll be a lot of fun. Just take your time to rest, there's no rushing in you getting better for this."
As soon as she finished that, she felt a vibration coming from her pants pocket. She knew it was coming from her phone, and she really wanted to ignore it, in case it was him, but she knew she couldn't. "Sorry about that. If you can just excuse me for a second," she quickly said as she got up and left the room. As she accepted the call, she was surprised that the voice she heard was not Jonesy's, but that of Maria's.
"Buenas tardes, Arielle," Maria said happily, her accent kicking into full gear, "I thought I called and check up on ya."
Arielle sighed in relief and couldn't help but smile, "Everything's alright, Maria. You kinda scared me... I thought you were Jonesy calling.:
There was some silence before Maria spoke again, "Amiga, how much time do you have left?"
Arielle had to look around for a clock somewhere in the hallway. Just like avoiding answering her phone, she had been trying to avoid the topic of how much time she had left. When she found the clock, she realized that she only had about two hours and forty-five minutes left. It was just enough time for her, as well as that it wasn't enough time for her. She told Maria how much time she had left and there was even more silence.
"Okay, chica," Maria said finally, "Well, just be careful, alright? You know you're mi amiga mejor (my best friend)."
"I know, Maria," Arielle said with a small sad smile. Why did this conversation make her want to cry? Was it because she was thinking that it was her last time that she'd ever talk to Maria? Was she honestly excepting the fact that she was no longer free from Jonesy's hold?
There was some more silence before they both said their goodbyes and Arielle just looked at her phone, trying her hardest not to cry. Taking deep breaths, she came back in with a small smile, giving Kedrick and Athena a small wave. "I'm sorry that took so long. Just had to talk with Maria. She was making sure I was alright because I was feeling a bit sick yesterday." The lie had left her lips so easily, but she knew it was better to keep as many people out of her situation as possible. With her smile still on her face, she sat back in her spot and looked at Athena. "So, is there anything else you'd like to ask me?"

Kedrick looked over at Arielle quickly when he heard her phone ring. He tried to keep from looking concerned but he was sure Arielle saw it in his eyes. His mouth was dry and he could swear that his heart was beating loud enough for Athena to hear half way across the bed. He allowed himself a small smile though he felt more like throwing up as Arielle left the room. Athena frowned leaning forward, she pressed the back of her hand against Kedrick's cheek. "Are you okay?" She asked, changing position to touch his forehead. "You look kind of pale, are you sure you don't need to be in here instead of me?" She asked with a small, concerned smile. "No, I'm, I'm fine." He said, reaching up and taking her hand off of his face. He squeezed her hand lightly, "I think you're hallucinating my dear sister, you should rest some more." Athena gave her brother a slightly pouty look and leaned back against her pillows. Kedrick smiled at her lightly. "Don't give me that look." He said poking her cheek gently. Athena couldn't help but smile. Kedrick looked up sharply when Arielle reentered the room and smiled in releif when he heard it was Maria, or at least, he hoped that was true. "I'm sorry that you weren't feeling well." Athena said, scooting over to make room for her again. "Kedrick might have caught whatever it is you had because he looked kind of pale a second ago." She said with a smile.

"Oh, he is?" Arielle asked, looking at Kedrick and noticing the look in his eyes. He must have thought, just like her, that the person responsible for the call was Jonesy. That he had somehow managed to be ready earlier than what was agreed upon. If there was one thing that Jonesy was somewhat good enough for, it was keeping his word about time. "Well then, I'll make sure he gets all the rest he needs. I mean, he did stay up most of the night making sure that I was alright." More lies escaped from her and at this point, it almost seemed like that was the only reality she had now.
