[shamelessplug]Well Shock, I'd be more than delighted if you birthed an edit for my challenge![/shamelessplug]

Honest to goodness! My Molly Ringwald is about to get out her red shoes and dance the blues if only she and Strange take up the dance-floor!

Lucca Ashtear
Has it ever struck you funny that more people on Gaia are mourning for Gambino than the Pope? Myself included, of course. For the Pope, it was like, "Oh, that sucks." For Gambino, I was in shock for days.

Yu-utsu
lets face it, the pope was 84 and has been dying for years, we KNEW that was coming, but gambino, he was in his prime, and at the peak of power, that was a shock

surprised

um yea well thats not the case for me. lucca, thas a strange n disturbing fact.. and um yu-utsu... thats just messed up confused

plus, gambino was a jerk! stare

it's not messed up, it's logical. the pope was 84 and very ill, you'd expect someone 84 and very ill to die, you wouldnt expect someone mid 40s, seemingly very healthy, just cured of depression to die
PostPosted: Tue Apr 05, 2005 11:13 am

haha who do u think u are? spock? n logical doesnt mean its not messed up.

i dont want to start a discussion about religious views, but its also funny to me that we got a little more show of respect for the death of christopher reeve in here than we're getting for pope jean paul ii confused

and sorry all, but the comparison between the unconfirmed "assassination" of gaia's most powerful male npc & the death of the pope just isnt sitting too well with me. so we're just gonna have to drop the subject in here....... now.

Shock, I feel your woe over the devaluation of real life issues. Gaia is, however, a place for people to escape the real world and indulge in fictional activity. It's no fun to find few who share your grief, but we're all here to support you. I hope some good will come from the loss, perhaps some short term peace measures between the bereft Palastinians and Israelis.

On a lighter note, How's the Editor's Block. Mine's shifting in short bursts, been doing small ones for ange and myself to illustrate editing tips and tricks.

ha yea thanks vorty. while i appreciate ur support, im actually not grieving much about the pope's passing... i was just taken aback at being told that an expected death isnt as upsetting as one out of the blue.

and i fully understand that gaia is an escape from real life, i mean my having to deal with evil deadlines on a daily basis is a big part of why i dont take commissions at my wax museum.

but also, with the admins mixing in a little tragedy into gaia's fictional history, i guess the comparisons with actual world events is hard to ignore.

it's not that its less upsetting, it's that you're more emotionally prepared to deal with the situation. the same amount of upset is involved, but if you have time to come to terms with your feelings about a situation generally it's a great deal easier to cope with
PostPosted: Tue Apr 05, 2005 7:18 pm

well, i guess im not as comfortable talking about death as u are.. the bluntness of ur statement was mainly what got to me. with such an emotional subject, i would have liked for u to have packaged ur post with more care rather than with ur cold logic... u dirty vulcan.

now, can we please end this discussion? at least here in my carnivale.. ur free to start ur own thread about it of course, where people can choose to participate.

Listen, sunshine. Don't you be underestimating the might of the brittish empire. Before you even THINK of stereotyping us, we will crush your puny country. Then once the dust has settled, we will gather for tea and scones.

*dresses yu up in a Beefeater suit, including stupidly tall fuzzy black hat*

Yes, we were talking about the same thing.
