Earendil nodded and tried to peer into the windows as they passed the building. It seemed that no one was in there at the moment, but he could see walls covered in books and long tables covered with all sorts of things.
"Looks like more than just books," he commented, seeing vials and other devices such as Shiro had used on their trip for his experiments.

"Well it is his research that goes into the books," Kara replied.
Though she had to wonder how much of that was Cindy's as well, in fact she wondered if Cindy had come up with anything new since the last she had heard of her.
"Let's just hope someone is home," Donovan muttered as he stopped in front of the door and knocked.

Adonai was out gathering research materials for the day, and Shael was at the river, doing laundry, and so it was just Vergil and Cindy in the house. Vergil was busy copying out his lessons in Adonai's old study when he heard the knock, and he looked up from his work and called out, "Mother! Someone's at the door!"
Then he got up, brushed off his pants, and hopped from the table to the chair and to the floor before he skittered off in the direction of the front door.

Cindy had been busy in the kitchen when she heard the knock at the door. Odd she thought, she wondered who could that be as she turned and made her way to the front door. It could be anyone really she thought as she opened the door, but was surprised to find it was her parents, the twins, Earedil, Miyuki and Lin.
"Mom! Father!" Cindy opened the door wide and smiled.
"Surprise!" Kara exclaimed and she hugged Cindy all the while holding Hope with one arm, "You look wonderful."

Vergil caught up with Cindy just as Kara hugged her, and he looked up at the group. He was semi-delighted to see them all.
"More not-so-tall people!" he beamed, glad that there were others who weren't nearly as tall as the elves. "Great! I was starting to wonder if there was anyone else like that here!"
Earendil stared down at the boy. Where had he come from? And what was he talking about?
"Lin?" he questioned, nodding at the boy. "Who is this?"

"I would assume this is Vergil," Lin murmured back.
She had never met Vergil of course and had only heard of the boy briefly during her return home. Otherwise she knew little about him, beyond what she was told.
"He's so cute," Kara told Cindy.
This only caused Cindy to chuckle because she was certain there wasn't a child her mother had not called cute yet, "Vergil, these are your grandparents, and the babies with them are your aunts Hope and Faith. This lady over here is your other aunt Lin, and her daughter... your cousin Miyuki I'm assuming?"
"Is there anyone who hasn't heard of her?"
"This place can be worse than a small village at times," Cindy replied, "And this man here is Earendil Aldrich."

Vergil looked back up at Lin. "I heard of her, so everyone must have," he told her plainly. "Because I don't listen very much, but everyone else usually does."
He looked up at Earendil. "So are you a relative of Adonai and Shael?" he asked him. "Because they're Aldriches too."
Earendil chuckled. "Yes, very distantly."
Vergil nodded. "I thought so. Mother, are they going to come in?" He looked up at Cindy, genuinely uncertain. After all, she preferred him to focus on his studies ...

Cindy grinned knowing that for the pass several years she had been trying very hard to catch Vergil up on his studies. She had hoped that teaching him more might eventually mature him.
"Yes, after all it's not often we get Gaian visitors," she moved from the door and motioned for everyone else to step in, "Of course this is the first time I've seen you here too Earendil."

Earendil chuckled and stood back so that the others could all enter first. "And the second time we've ever met," he replied. "So it can't be all that strange."
Vergil scampered back from the door so that he wouldn't get stepped on - a problem he had mostly at the ranch, where there were so many more people, but which occasionally happened out here as well.

Of course being around smaller beings Kara, Donovan and Lin were extra careful not to step on Vergil anyways. Lin did remember what it was like being that size, and for Kara and Donovan, there had been at one point more than one small being at the same time.
Waiting for Earendil to enter before she could close the door Cindy replied, "Yes, true, but I've lived here for a long time now. This is my first time seeing you here."

"I hope you've been well," Earendil smiled. "I know you've been here for a very long time ... well, Rhea's nearly forty by now, so it has to have been at least thirty years for you."
Which was not long, for him, but then he was much older than ... well, many of the people here in the valley.

Cindy laughed, "Hard to believe at times, she was just a little girl when I came here to teach, but now she's going to live her own life."
In truth it was now that Cindy had to start and decide what she was going to do. Was she going to continue to raise Vergil here or was she going to return to Gaia. She still had a shop waiting for her after all.
Turning she motioned for them to follow her to the sitting area, they could talk there and let the babies play.

Once the door was closed, Earendil set Miyuki on the ground (after making sure that Lin's butterfly fans remained outside of course) before taking a seat on one of the chairs.
"I hear that Rhea caused quite a reaction when she told all of you about her engagement," he grinned at Cindy, making himself comfortable.
Vergil was curious about the children. They were also bigger than him, but not by a whole lot. He stood near them, watching them curiously.

Kara took the time to set Hope down and Donovan set Faith down right beside Hope. Being as young as they were they indeed looked every sense identical, meaning that the only thing that could tell them apart was their clothes and bracelet colour.
Miyuki was already hurrying as her arms and legs could take her over to the other two 'babies' even though technically the twins were older than her and had already begun walking.
Cindy rolled her eyes, "She's still the same, though she didn't have to try to pick a good time to surprise us all, just dropping it on us was surprise enough."
Taking a seat Lin laughed at that, she had to admit it was far too amusing for her, "That's Rhea for you, it goes along with her sense of adventure."

Earendil chuckled. "I think it didn't help that she had introduced Aurin to everyone first, and then not explained until later," he grinned. "I mean, you wouldn't want to have someone you think is just a visitor and then it turns out they're marrying your daughter, right?"
That had probably been more of a shock than anything.
