Earendil, being more alert than the others, was the first to see Lin as she appeared in the dining room. He smiled widely and waved her over to them, shifting over to give her room to sit.
"Welcome back to the land of the living," he grinned as Kaito called for another place setting. "Do you feel better now that you've rested? You look like you're walking better, anyways."
Though of course that could simply be because of the way they were draped over her shoulders now, he didn't know.

Lin slid into the seat next to Earendil, "As long as I don't lift them up I won't be wobbly."
She didn't dare try to move them at this point, if she wanted to experiment in trying to move her wings she would do so outside where there weren't as many people around. Besides, she was sure some were staring.
"Otherwise I'm better, less shocked and more miffed I have to relearn how to move in a fight, and clothes.... I can't wear midriffs like this. I don't know how Mom dressed anything that didn't have a low back."
Senka looked up from her meal as if Lin was stupid, "She reverted to her human form of course, it's a lot easier when you don't have wings in the way."

"Well, that can't be helped," Kaito said sympathetically. "But look at the bright side - once you get used to your katas with your wings, you'll be able to fight two different ways. You'll have a great advantage over anyone you fight against!"
"Though that does bring up another point," Earendil said softly. "Will we be putting off the trip again? I am in no rush, I want you to be ready ... but we will have to notify Roydon, if that is the case ..."

"Probably...."
The thought made Lin frowned she was looking forward to this but she wasn't going to be defenseless on this trip. There was a reason why she spent a good portion of her life training.
"Even with Vincent's insane training schedule the time difference will make it a problem."
Though under Vincent's "gentle" tutelage she would probably be able to get up to par in a month...
"Unless... I spent," Lin mused, "I trained in the Borderlands or somewhere else... even with Vincent he can only help so much. He can only give me pointers and leave me to train, Yue's wings are no where as big and Mom only uses the staff... and she... doesn't like to use it that much."
Actually if Lin wanted to be fair her mother had this unusual talent of being only able to fight very well with a staff when she couldn't see, which was really bizarre to Lin.
"So I would be on my own for most of it anyways."

"If I could make a suggestion," Aranel spoke up hesitantly. "Lin ... you know of course that I spent a bit of time in the Borderlands, when I met with Aragost to ... take care of ... the creature ... anyways, there's a girl there who I believe may be able to help you. Rhea. I know she keeps it from her parents, and even from her tutor, but she trains with her grandmother ... and she has wings bigger even than yours, I believe ... perhaps you should speak with her."
Kaito blinked at Aranel. "I haven't met her," he said, sounding confused. "Whose daughter is she?"

"Adonai and Shael," Lin replied having been somewhat familiar with Rhea.
In fact Rhea had helped her with her butterfly problem, and had offered advice.
"Her tutor is my eldest sister Cinderella, or Cindy as most people have come to call her," Lin replied, "She was born with a lot of magic, so much that she needed to learn it something elves don't normally do but a concept that is very common back home."

Aranel nodded. "That sounds right. I wasn't there long. I think the only reason I really remember Rhea is because she was so singular. At any rate, you might give it a thought ... because she is skilled. Staff, sword, bow ... she is very good at what she does."
"And if you do practice there," Kaito added, "it won't take much time in our world at all."

Then the only thing she would have to worry about was clothes, but she was sure Helen would have that under control easily.
"That is true," Lin agreed, "I guess then I'll be heading to the Borderlands after this."
Best of all she wouldn't have to wait for her Dad if she wanted to go there. She could just go...

"I'll come with you," Kaito offered, "If you want. Shiro I'm sure will want to write up whatever he's found out at the plantation, so he'll need some time alone for that anyways. And I'm sure the library can't get in too much disarray while we're gone."
Not to mention, Ura would help with that while Shiro and Kaito were busy.

Seeing as it was the clan library and the only person who used it extensively was Yukito or Kali, Lin figured that Kaito was right about that.
"Thanks," Lin replied, "I don't think I've visited alone to the Borderlands except during Christmas."
Which it was a gift giving run, something she had been doing since she was a Surprise (even though technically she had only done it twice).

Kaito smiled. "And that was just a quick visit, this will be a lot longer," he murmured in agreement. "And besides, it's been too long since I've seen Celebor. Maybe we could even stay with him, now that he lives there with his family."
"You'll have to give him my regards," Earendil smiled. "I miss training with him ... he was fun to have around."

Lin nodded at this, though she also had to admit if Ruran hadn't changed at all she would be much more happy being at the Ranch and taking a trip down to visit every day. Lin didn't have a good experience with the boy (who was probably now a man).
"We will," Lin grinned back.
Then she began to eat, she had been the last to arrive at the dining area, so it was good to just finally eat. Not to mention the wing sprouting business made her hungrier than she thought she would be. By the time dinner was done Lin was in a very good mood haven eaten and at least figured out part of her newly acquired problem.

By the time Lin finished dinner, it was time for Regan to go to bed, and Tinuviel and Aranel excused themselves and headed off with her. Kaito and Earendil weren't ready for bed, though, and Earendil smiled at Lin.
"Well," he said, "it's getting a bit dark outside, but I'm sure that after all that sleep you're probably not ready for bed yet either. Do you want to go for a bit of a walk and see what it's like here?"

That didn't sound like a bad idea to Lin, besides all she was going to do was be bored out of her mind if she didn't do anything until she finally fell asleep again.
"I'd like that," Lin replied getting up from her seat.
Not to mention she probably kept Earendil from looking around earlier with her being asleep and all.

Earendil smiled. "Then come on, Kaito did some exploring earlier on his own, I'm sure he can guide us around."
"Of course," Kaito agreed. "There won't be any shops open at this time of night anymore, but you'll want to look at them tomorrow, Lin. There are some great shops here." He grinned. "This is where they grow all of the sugar cane for the entire Four Lands!"
Earendil laughed and stood up. "We'll visit the cane fields in the morning or something," he grinned. "For now I'm sure there are other things that we can enjoy in the moonlight."
