"It would be inefficient for me to carry more than what I need, so no, I don't have any extra bows. However, I have arrows galore," the elf said handing the thief a bundle," Make sure I get back what doesn't break, fletching new ones is a long and tedious task."

((One does not necessarily need a bow to set arrows to flight.))

Kal nodded thankfully and began to set up tightly strung strings in the back corners of the room with arrows set to them. They would fire the arrows at the back of the dragon men's knees. Whichever unlucky one stepped on the plate.

Before any further discussion of any kind could be made on the matter, all of the dragon cultists' eyes opened at once at the presence of a drake in their midst. The tongue in which they spoke was the Common. The one in the most ornamented of their robes turned to regard Melkor.

"And what issss a fairy dragon doing down here? Do you not have businesssss to attend to off in whatever dream world you crawled from?"

The other cultists chuckled in unison, berating the young drake. The spokesman of the group grinned until out of the corner of his slit eye he spotted the glinting of glowing steel from one of the would-be adventurers down the hall.

"Intruders! The orb is threatened! You three slaughter them, I will take the orb to the Sanctum for protection."

"But Malfius-"

"Do as I say! The master will have our heads should we fail,"
the ornamented cultist by the name of Malfius barked back at them," Oh, and destroy that pathetic excuse for a wyrm. His mere existence sickens me."

With that, Malfius snatched the orb from its resting place then departed for the door in the rear of the room, disappearing from sight.

The lead cultist began flicking his hands about in a frenzy as magic swirled about his fingers before launching a series of five magical bolts towards Melkor!

1 Melkor is struck by all five bolts, taking heavy damage
2-3 Melkor dodges three bolts, only taking moderate damage
4 Melkor dodges and resists four of the bolts, taking only minor damage

Results:Critical Hit!
Melkor is struck by every missile as he cries out in pain to his master. He attempts to retreat by flying back to her but he is too badly wounded... He lands abruptly on the floor and begins to attempt to hobble away in retreat.


(It is highly advised that the Arcanist either cast Dismiss Familiar to send him back to his pocket realm, or attempt to rescue him. If a wizard familiar dies, it permanently weakens the Arcanist's maximum health.)

(I'm confused I thought Tjaden's blade was sheathed and so wouldn't glow.)

Selce fell down to her knees before she noticed the pain wasn't actually hers. With her strong will she pushed the pain to the back of her mind before she stood. "They found Melkor, he's hurt". She let out and began her DISMISS FAMILIAR spell. She was getting tired of her friends getting hurt and vented her frustration with a FIREBALL spell. She had aimed at one of the closely clustered cultists.

"Kal after the leader, he is making a break for it with the Eye!" Laren said to her halfling friend before firing arrows down the hallway at the cultists, hopeing to delay their next attack on Melkor long enough for Selce to finish her spell casting.

((Didn't say it was Tjaden's weapon that they saw. They just saw a glint of steel, not necessarily magic steel. And Malfius, the leader has already escaped to the lower chamber, you need to deal with these three before you can pursue him and the orb))

Melkor's form disappeared into nothingness as he faded back into the astral pocket that was his home. He will not be able to be re-summoned for another day until his wounds heal.

Selce's fireball soars into the circle of cultists!

1 The cultists' magical defenses diffuse the explosion
2-8 The cultists' magical defenses shatter, leaving them vulnerable, but the fireball is absorbed
9-11 The fireball breaks the defenses, however the lead cultist reacts quickly and partially shields himself and another. The third takes moderate damage.
12 The fireball breaks all their protection, singing the cultists' scaled skin, dealing moderate damage to all three.

Results: Selce's infuriated fireball crashes against the magical shielding, sending flames spouting in every direction. The intensity picks up and is consumed by the shield's deterioration as both disappear into nothingness.

Tjaden pulls his sword from his sheath, its glow once again erupting from the sword and bathing the hall in light. Harsh shadows played across the knight's crag filled face.

Launching from his spot on the floor, Tjaden charged down the hall at the lead cultist, his shield raised before him, his sword arched above his head. He would smite the robed figure with all his might for their obvious bend towards violence and evil.

Erron decides now is the time to pursue the element of surprise, the light flashing suddenly into the eyes of the cultists a definite boon, he rushes alongside Tjaden to one of the now unprotected lizardmen and firmly plants a boot on his foot, and launches a powerful uppercut at the man!

"Lets make this fast and easy!"

Laren fired arrows down the hallway at their foes, her previous attempts fouled by the cultists magical shielding, she was confident now that her arrows could now at least harass the evil worshipers enough to prevent them from casting spells.

Kal went into the shadows, as he noticed the three cultists were distracted with his three teamates. While hidden, he attempted to backstab the one closest to him.

((Ick... Lots of actions. Correct... Kal can't follow because I specifically said "You will have to deal with these three *first*". Future reference to you Zack, and everyone for that matter, please PM me with questions, don't just make a one liner post and have a question in it. And yes the traps can be used still... they just have to be lured near them. If you have drawn them to that point, say so in your post and do a roll of 1-4 of whether or not they avoid it or not. 1 means they avoid it. 2-4 means they'll take minor damage.))

Tjaden charges the first cultist head on, the dragon-skinned humanoid roars in response and meets him mid-way!

1 The cultist bashes his talons against Tjaden's shield, ripping it from his arm and sends it to the side, no damage is dealt to either.
2-3 The cultist lashes with its talons, its hardened claws clashing with Tjaden's enchanted steel. No damage is dealt.
4-5 The cultist recoils as his claws are deflected by Tjaden's shield, he reacts quickly though and recovers just in time to only be grazed by the orc's quick riposte, dealing minor damage.
6 The cultist staggers back as his momentum is used against him, Tjaden's blade slices upward, dealing moderate damage!

Results: The cultist recoils as his claws are deflected by Tjaden's shield, he reacts quickly enough to avoid lethal damage from the orc, but still takes minor damage as the sword grazes his unprotected side.

Erron attempts to land a crushing blow on his opponent!

1 The cultist manages to lean back skillfully and respond in kind, bringing his head forward and headbutting the monk, dealing moderate damage.
2-3 The cultist pulls backward, but overcompensates, no damage is dealt.
4-5 The cultist is too slow and accepts the blow, expecting less damage from an unarmed attack, though to its surprise, Erron's strike deals moderate damage
6 Critical hit, Erron's uppercut breaks the dragonoid's lower jaw, dealing heavy damage and causing him to stagger back.

Results: The dragonoid leans back at the last moment and grins wickedly as it brings its own skull forward suddenly, slamming Erron in the forehead, causing moderate damage and sending him staggering.

Laren fires multiple arrows at the farthest cultist, who has begun to cast a new spell. She must interrupt him!

1 The arrows miss, the cultist launches a poison cloud into the room, dealing minor damage to all inside with the exception of the cultists, who are immune to acid.
2-5 One arrow strikes the cultist in the shoulder, dealing minor damage, but interrupts his spellcast
6-7 Two arrows hit home, dealing moderate damage to the far cultist, his spellcasting is disrupted.
8 Three arrows strike true, (Critical Hit) dealing heavy damage and disrupt his spell.

Results: A single arrow flies through the tumultuous air and pierces the shoulder of the dragonoid, dealing minor damage. The cultist hisses in disgust as the magic that had built up around his hands dissipated in a spark of light.

Kal attempts to assault the farthest cultist who had just been interrupted by Laren's attack.

1 Kal is detected! The cultist swings its claws in defiance and slams down into the floor, knocking Kal to his feet. No damage dealt, however Kal is left vulnerable for one turn.
2-4 Kal leaps out from the shadows and is detected a split second before he lands his attack, the cultist raises his arm and is struck there instead of the intended target. Minor damage is dealt.
5-7 Kal lunges from the darkness and drives his blade into the shoulder of the cultist. Moderate damage is dealt.
8 Kal appears on the back of the dragonoid and drives his blade deep into the cultist's spine, Critical damage is dealt.

Results: Kal jumps from the shade and sends his short sword through the scales of the cultist, the enchanted metal piercing its thick hide. Moderate damage is dealt.
