Taking the water she sipped lightly, thinking it all over. "A nap? What about the sun?"
"It won't hurt you, even if you are dark skinned. Promise." Nuzzling at Lark some and her happy go lucky love of the moment. "Besides, naps on the beach are great. The sand warms up nicely."
He took another moment to let his body stop freaking out as it thought he was trying to drown for that brief few seconds and coughed once more to help. Turning green eyes on Lhia he pat her hand with his own and gave a smile. "I'm fine. Just trying to drown." Giving a light shuckle and looking to the kids. "Thus children, is why we don't want water up our noses. Unless we're sea elves."
"Which is why you should have stayed away. Then I wouldn't have to protect you from her and deal with her at the same time. At least you learned something from it though." Yes he supposed that was the important part that she learned who that woman was from her own mouth. "I needed some time by myself. You're not the only one sorely disappointed with me for all of this. Not that it matters really, now you know what I'm capable of. Better for you to get out now than later, having to deal with what I could do."

"Drink plenty of water before you bed down and you'll be fine." She leaned against Nyc, settling between his legs as she took the last bite of her sandwich. "Especially when you have a strong chest to use as a pillow."
She simply shook her head and glanced at the children who were watching him curiously. "There is such a thing as being splashed too much. I think you've had enough water for now anyway, Ty. Krymsyn, Trystyn, you two can play still but stay where we can see you." Holding out a hand to Ty.
"You wanted me to stay at Twilight knowing she wouldn't play or fight fair? Khai, she might not have killed you but she would have made her point known. And since she's in Vesendar there's only so much your father could have done. It was better to let me handle it." She studied him from her side of the room with a frown. "You want me to leave you? But...I thought you said you...loved me." Nope, not understanding.

"Mm...I'd rather have a soft pillow." Mostly oblivious to all that went on between those two she took her fill of water before leaning back and making herself comfortable. A nap wouldn't be so bad now would it?
"Oh so I'm the pillow am I? Well then, please do get comfortable my lady. I'll be the one to gaurd you both so that you may all take reverie if perfect ease."
He got himself up as he took Lhia's had and sloshed himself back to the banks outside the pools, and sat down with a sigh as the kids were left to explore on their own within eyesight. He looked like a half drowned cat, but really didn't mind. "At least they're easy to convince."
"I don't need my father to take care of me. Besides he already made the point that this is mine to deal with and he's not stepping in. You think she was so loved in Vesendar? I beg to differ...a lot of people are probably happy she's out of their hair. I gave her the choice and she didn't want to take the easy way out."
Turning a look up to her now. "I'm my father's son...there's no denying that. Even you're afraid of him, of what he can do when he's pushed to hard. You've listened to story upon story, whether they're true or not." Shaking his head. "I do love you. I can't stand the thought of you looking at me one day for something I've done and see nothing but fear and hate in your eyes. I can't change who I am."

"It's such a pain to get sand out of my hair, Nyc. And you won't sit there and pick it out grain by grain either." Messing with him just because. She easily snuggled herself down, settling her cheek on his chest and letting her mind relax. It was common practice for the two of them to reverie together just like this in a field, on the beach, or even on the couch in his study.
"They seem to be having a good time, too." Picking up one of the towels, she settled behind him, spreading her legs on either side of his and took to removing the excess water from his hair and shoulders. "Krymsyn just confuses me, though."
"She had her own special group and they would have fought for her to a point. Probably not against Malik D'vinn but then they might have considered it a sport of sorts. They weren't very nice elves." She stared at him for a long time, her mouth dropping open, before she crossed the room and her hand cracked hard against his cheek. "Do you still love me?" she demanded furiously.

"I'm sure they will till they run into their first crustacean. Then it will be hollaring and such." Smiling as she took to trying to dry him off some and soping up some water from his person. "Why does she confuse you? Because she's trying to compete with you?"
Holy crap, she just hit him. Well she had his attention now seeing as that just wasn't normal behavior for her. Though he would say that he was pleased with such things seeing as they meant she was willing to defend herself or things she wanted to get across. "Yes, I do still love you."

"A single pinch is a good introduction to crabs." Giving a chuckle to that as she continued her ministrations along his back. "You think she's trying to compete with me? I just don't think she likes me very much. In fact, I'd say she resents me. But I'm the only one. She doesn't hate you and she was completely sweet to the tavern owner and even Broog."
"Are you sure?" Slapping his cheek again. "Do you still love me now?" Quirking an eyebrow. "I may not know a lot about love but you once told me that loving someone who hit me was silly. I loved my parents because it was expected of me. I chose to love you. If you can love me even after slapping you then why can't I love you and stay with you despite what you may do or not stop from being done?"

"You're a woman, that makes you competition on all levels to her. She's resenting you because you're besting her on levels that she wants to be the winner on and doesn't want to give you your due credit, even if she benefits. Unfortunately it's a harder behavior to ween her out of. That and she can't charm you the way she can charm a man, it makes you even more of a threat."
Ow, that was starting to hurt. He was glad that she had been listening to him though with all his talking and wasn't just letting it go in one ear and right back out the other. In face her using it against him was a grand thing. "You're hitting me to get something across that I really need to understand, not just to hurt me because you can." But he was quiet and watching her before a nod. "Maybe because I'm scared of being like that..." That was the truth to this whole matter, he was scared.

She still wasn't convinced. "The only thing that I've even somewhat beaten her on was making sure she took a bath which she then soaked me during. She's bested me on everything else including getting me to wear that damn dress. In fact, the only thing I've gotten from her without anything awful happening was when she and Trystyn helped me with dishes." Giving a sigh and then shaking her head. "I didn't even have this much trouble with Vale. Granted, he gave me some difficulties but nothing like this." Frowning at that, "Maybe I'm losing my touch?"
He wasn't sitting which would make it easier but she stood there before him and studied him for a long moment. That difference made everything else he'd said before click into place and she suddenly understood why he was concerned. Therefore, she decided to use the same tactic to help him see reason. "Your father protects his own with a single mindedness that might shock or dismay some people. He's willing to wipe out an entire village if it will mean saving you, your brother, your mother or even your unborn sister. Are you afraid of loving like that, Khai?"

He chuckled. "It's not competition in you trying, it's competition in your existing. Not to mention it just gets under her skin that you are more or less favored over her when it comes to me." Shaking his head, "You're not losing your touch at all, you're just dealing with a little girl who is used to getting what he wants by any way she can come up with."
"But we know who he is when he's not being that person." Which was probably a stupid argument becasue Kaelin was quite aware of who he was when he wasn't being vindictive. "And you're not afraid of any of that?" Countering her question with his own this time.

"In other words, she's spoiled." Lhia gave a private chuckle over that one and slid the towel down his back to his sides, allowing her to lean forward and press a kiss to first one shoulder and then the other without alerting anyone to what was going on. "Oh? You favor her over me, hm?"
"Knowing who a person is doesn't change their love, Khai. It just helps you understand it." He was really concerned about this, wasn't he? "No, I'm not afraid of you, Malikhai D'vinn. I'm not afraid that you might destroy my enemies or hurt someone who wants to hurt me. I'm not even afraid that you might one day raise your hand to me." Pausing for a moment. "I might be afraid of you if you did that. And you wouldn't want me to love you or be with you anymore if you did that, right?" Just so she could keep this all straight.

He couldn't help the smile as she was trying to be slick and affectionate at the same time, not wanting too many people in attendance to be paying attention to them. "No, I said I favor you over her. Don't try to twist my words so that you may find a reason to throw me back into the water. I'm on to you."
Malikhai couldn't help but find a break in his down mood and give a half hearted chuckle, rubbing at the back of his neck at her questioning. "Right...that's how it's supposed to go Kaelin." Sighing and dropping his hand then, taking hers in his own. "If I did, you better hit me back and feed me to something very large with big teeth."

"Just wanted to see if you were still paying attention, and look, you were." Nibbling the lower lobe of his ear and then pressing a kiss to his cheek. "You'd enjoy that though, you know you would." Then deciding to play with him a bit more. "I thought the Brigade Master wasn't allowed to have favorites."
She quirked an eyebrow at him and nodded. "Well, I might be able to manage that but I'm not so sure I could stop loving you." She raised her other hand to his cheek that had flared purple after her two blows had landed and gently brushed her fingers over it. "And I'm really glad that doesn't work both ways. I don't think I'd enjoy being fed to anything, regardless of the size of it's teeth."

"I'm always paying attention. It just looks like I'm not half the time." Grinning wider at her affection, he just couldn't help the warm happy feeling it produced. But a laugh as she was still messing with him. "But I'm not Brigade Master right now, otherwise you'd be addressing me as such now wouldn't you?"
"Better to be eaten by something with big teeth than to be nibbled to death but say a pack of draithix." Chuckling lightly as Yinn made a yip to that statement and he pulled Kaelin to him, hugging her tightly to himself. "I didn't go there intending to hurt her Kaelin, I really didn't. But the damn woman wouldn't take the easy way out, and then you showed up."

"I don't know...I've always been a bit of a rebel, Ty. You know that." Many times during training she'd gotten her knuckles rapped for not performing as expected. She settled her hands at his chest and shifted her legs so they were a bit closer to his. "But by that logic, when we do go back to work I won't be your favorite anymore. Is that true?"
Kaelin's eyes widened and she glanced over at Yinn warily. She and the draithix had come to an understanding of sorts, called a truce. They didn't like each other anymore than they had in the beginning but they tolerated each other for Malikhai's benefit. "Will they actually do that?" She wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head against his shoulder. "She never does. She's also been spoiling for a fight for a really long time. You gave it to her. And then I showed up. So...is she dead?"

"I can't win this argument with you anyway I answer, am I?" Chuckling as he already knew the answer to that...womena and their ways of talking around things so that they were always right. It was admirable really. "Besides...I don't want you to be my favorite everywhere or I'll lack proper appreciation for you when it really counts."
"They're eat anything, I wouldn't put it past them." Which was a tad disturbing but hey, it was the truth. He lightly pet a hand through her hair, soothing both of them he supposed. "I don't think so." Leaving things quiet for a moment, "Do you want her to be?"
