she was shocked that Rose had known her name at all.She bowed and said. " Yes, my name is Miyoko Usagi.Humble maid of this okiya. If there is anything I can do for you,let me know Rose -san." she giggled." For a second there I thought that I was your equal in status here, casually making conversation!" She put her hand to her mouth, stifling her laughter. In the last okiya she was in, it was not proper to make casual conversation with an apprentice geisha.

[ xd OMFG! Well it's been months since I've posted here.. ^^;; I only ever made it to five posts. But now I have the computer back! ^-^; So I will start again now .. ^^;; it's amazing the thread got so busy, I was posting when this thread had about three pages. eek ]
Shiori stood at the entrance to her old okiya, pale and trembling, dressed in a shining gold and pink kimono. It had been a seeming eternity since she was here .. her parents had passed away .. her aunt Nozomiko had risen to even higher splendor and was now a geisha living in the Royal Palace, almost a queen in her own right. Of course Shiori herself had not had such good fortune.
Since her father died, her mother, Hana, was all alone. Nozomiko had always hated her sister and refused to help her. Hana had come to the okiya two year ago, tears streaming upon her face, begging her daughter to return home. Of course she had agreed. Her beloved mother was weak and tired all the time it seemed. Shiori had gone back to her old toil - but to be truthful it was not so bad. In a strange way she preferred the daily work of the farm to having to constantly try and appear glamorous and presentable. But the haggard look of her mother never went away .. and at last she too perished. Shiori had spent weeks in mourning. At first she would not leave her mothers side - wailing and sobbing, in agony. Then she fell utterly into despair, and was removed to her aunts residence near to death from the grief.
For a year she lived there, living a life of unprecedented luxury. But it seemed that she did not heal from her mothers' passing. She was as lifeless as a corpse most of the time. She would not eat, and rarely slept and certainly did not speak or sing as she used to. She was eighteen now. Her aunt, who was now her foster-mother, decided that perhaps sending her back to the okiya would bring her back to her old happy mood.

" Really?" She giggled again " So, Rose-san, What insrument are you learning to play?" she had learned a bit of shamisen from her mother and she had always liked the sound it made.

[ Thank you Dea! I missed everyone so much! whee Oh .. ^^; I also meant to add - I will do little ID's for people if anyone wants one. Just feeling a little bored at the moment. ^^; I may wind up making dolls of everyone in our okiya .. xD ]
At least everything had been prepared for her arrival already. She was too tired to even think about unpacking. But now she was back in a world where others did not do everything for her - in fact now she was at the far end of that spectrum, and would have to attend to the needs of everyone but herself, for a while it seemed. She took a deep breath of the cool outside air before sliding open the front door of the okiya. She slipped out of her raised shoes and discreetly checked herself in the looking-glass hanging on the far wall. She was not wearing any makeup, but her skin had become so white from being inside all the time that it hardly mattered. Her cheeks had been hollowed out, and her freckles had faded. Of course they would return the moment she stood outside for any length of time.
But she still had the strange hair, a darkly burnished red. She had refused to let anyone cut it, and so it had grown out past her hips in thick waves. For the moment it had been pinned up with a golden flower clasp and arranged into a simple coif.
In the adjacent room she could hear sweet voices speaking in tones that reminded her of music. She peered around the corner, then moved so they could see her.
"Ohayoo gozaimasu." she said softly, bowing her head. She did not recognize them ..

Serena thought she had heard someone at the door, so she walked in and looked around. Soon she spotted Shiori in one of the rooms where there was some of their okiya.
"Welcome back, Shiori,"Serena greeted the girl sweetly.

instrument..? some sort of flute i believe, Tora thinks my hands seem rather beautiful *she glances at her palms* so i should play the flute... ah well.. thats lovely that your leaving how to play ^^ i wish i knew

Shiori was beyond grateful that someone should remember her at all, for indeed it had been such a long time since she was here. Although the building remained the same, and shone sparkling clean, some things had been rearranged, and she had noticed the garden outside had grown - filled with large red roses and flowers of a scent so heavenly it seemed out of a dream. These scents even wafted inside, so that the okiya smelled gently of flowers.
She smiled for the first time in many days, a sad smile it seemed, yet not without gladness. She gave a deep and humble bow, feeling strangely light, as if something had left her and a feeling of great empathy for the world had replaced it.
"Oh, Serena-san! It is such a wonderful thing to see you here. I was afraid maybe that all the people I knew once had grown up and left this fair okiya!"

(Akano chan, you need to talk a little more in your posts. i admit i'm not exactly literate and i dont use quotes i use asterisks, but rather than just on sentence why not describe where she is and such, how she feels a bit more... you probably already know this and i'm rambling nonsense but ya know, i needta get my thoughts out 3nodding )

" Your hands are beautiful,Rose-san. I play samishen. i love the flute too, though. the sound reminds me of a cleaver wind,blowing swiftly through the trees." and she began to hum, swaying to and fro, danceing in delight of the sounds her throught was producing.
