The most common word for Western cakes in Japan is keeki, which is written in hiragana, not kanji.

The character read mochi is used typically for rice cakes, and it looks like this:

The character read ka can be used for cakes in general sometimes, and it looks like this:

I want to say the father BECAME angry.

So would it be:

父は、怒りになりました

怒り (いかり) Ikari; angry

父 (ちち) Chichi; father

Chichi wa, ikari ni narimashita.

Is 怒り correctly used with the ~になる form?

父は怒ることになりました
あなたは「ことに」を使います。
You would use "koto ni".
It basically reads, "Father did the act of becoming angry".
ここ←もっと報があるの。

Hmmm...I'm having a bit of trouble with translating a line from a song.

数えていくもんじゃない
Kazoete yuku mon ja nai

What does "mon ja nai" mean? Sentence endings give me the most trouble. sad

What exactly does it mean if a verb is altered into another of its forms (say the te-form or the i-form) and "yuku" is added? For example, "chiriyuku" or "ochiteyuku"?

@Shokai: Both "父は、怒りになりました" and/or "父は怒ることになりました" translate correctly to say "Father became angry".

@Little Rachael: I'm assuming that "もんじゃない" is short for "ものじゃない" and it just adds emphasis to the meaning of the sentence "going to count"!

@The Star is Vain: ~てゆく (~te yuku) is like saying in English "going to ~". You can also say ~ていく (~te iku) sometimes.

Hiya sweatdrop

Recently, i had some art done and i requested it to be in Chinese, since i know some of that.

But instead the girl did it in Japanese and i've had 2 people tell me it's wrong but not tell me what it says...

Can someone please translate roughly what the art in my signature says?

I'll post it as well

I really hate to do this, but i paid like 5k for it >_>

Very interesting...

so desu; anata wa neko o hitotsu arimasu, anata wa hitotsu to itsu "??" (no clue what kanji that is - probably not written right) ni neko itotsu arimasu ka. "tomu" wa, amanda o daisuki desu yo.

So, you have one cat. You have one and one "??" cat?
Tom likes Amanda.

Did you ask for a specific translation? If so, I know a bit Chinese or if you want to keep it in Japanese I can give you the correct translation. smile

I believe she might have had an obsession with cats and the number 1. sweatdrop "

Anyways, it's better to say: "tomu wa amanda o aishiteru" (トムはアマンダを愛してる) or quite simply in Chinese: Tom 愛 Amanda!
