Haradhel grinned. "Call me crazy," she laughed, "but I'm looking forward to that. I'm not meant for the quiet life, I need something a bit more, I think. I love having this many people in the house, it's so empty with just me and Elrohir."

"Curiosity never killed anyone," Elros remarked, "yet if I cannot shed any more light on a matter then there is little point in asking further."

He spotted another of the guards through the trees and started making his way towards her for her report.

"Well this is a huge place," Feng replied in turn, "A lot bigger than back home and we normally have a lot of people around."

She nodded looking throughful, even though she knew as she sat there, a lot of people was an understatement of the century.

Well, she couldn't argue with that, at least Lin thought so as she turned her head to see who was the next person they were going to meet. It was a lady this time! She never did get to see a lot of ladies.

"I've heard," Haradhel smiled. "I know how large your family is, though I'm certain that eventually we'll have more people here than there, if we don't already."

"Arthael," Elros nodded a greeting to the woman in question.

She was almost a full foot shorter than Elros (which wasn't dificult considering his height) but she was different from almost anyone else in any land. Her hair was neither blond nor black, but a light shade of brown, her eyes were so blue they were violet, and her skin wasn't tan like a Westlander or dusky like a Southlander, but rather a completely different shade of light brown.

Most predominant, though, was her scar, a thick, ugly thing that went from the left side of her forehead, across (and through) her right eye (which was scarred so badly it was sealed shut) and down to the corner of her mouth.

Her clothes in contrast were different shades of green to help her blend in with the forest, which she did with exceptional ease.

"Elros," she replied with a note of respect in her voice. Her eye moved to Lin, and she looked at the child curiously, wondering silently who she was.

"I'm sure," Feng nodded with certainity, "It would be very hard once the children came to not have more people here than back home, unless everyone in the family went off and had kids, which isn't going to happen."

Not just for the younger ones, but for herself and Ryu, and the older ones that hadn't been paired. It was pointless to be paired when you didn't have anyone.

Lin waved when she noticed that she was being watched, and studied Arthael in turn. She couldn't help it after all, it wasn't the scar though. After seeing Harmir it was hard to be put off by a scar, sure it was right across her face but the other guy was missing part of his ear in comparance. Nevermind the other scars on his face and any other part of him visible.

No... it was more the fact that one, she was a female fighter (obviously it was a duh factor for Lin), which was rare, and the fact there weren't a lot of females around period. Then there was the colouring, it kind of reminded Lin of that drink called mocha, which to her was a nice colour.

"Oh, I'm sure it's possible," Haradhel challenged Feng, "after all there's quite a bit of time. Perhaps it won't happen very soon, but I'm sure it will eventually."

Elros noticed Arthael's gaze and smiled faintly. "This is Lin, our employer's daughter. He is here as well, up at the ranch house. Perhaps you would like to speak to him after your shift?"

Arthael nodded, a single quick movement, then stood, motionless, staring.

"All's quiet," she reported in quick, clipped words. "A herd of deer passed about an hour ago, nothing before, nothing since."

"Well.... maybe if Elnara keeps adopting," Feng grinned mischieviously.

Because she knew that Elnara loved children just as much even though she really should wait until some of her own have grown up a bit more.

Lin could have sworn that was shorter than when she heard Elros talking to that other man. Though short was good, it meant not a lot happened, and that was good too. Though terribly boring it must have been, but she probably knew how to not be bored like that guard.

She wondered what the deer looked like.

Haradhel laughed. "Aye, there's always that method," she grinned. "Besides, if your mother keeps adopting, as I'm told she does, then your house will still be filling up, just with siblings instead of nieces and nephews."

Elros nodded. "Thank you," he said softly, then turned and headed once more through the trees.

Once they were a short distance away, he spoke to Lin again. "She's not much for words," he explained, ducking around a tree, "but she's an excellent fighter. Hard life ... though that usually explains it."

Aliya returned downstairs just then with Feng and Ryu's bags in hand, as well as Triton's sword.

"I didn't want to go through your things," she said apologetically as she held the bags out to the twins, "and to be honest I'm not sure I would have known when I'd found Feng's fans."

Ryu smiled as he took the bags and handed Feng her bag, "That's alright, besides these bags are a bit unusual."

He had to admit this, since the bags could hold any amount of objects. Opening it up he rummaged through until he took out a sword, the sleath and handle sword made of solid wood, unusual for that, but that was the way the sword had been made.

Feng grinned as she pulled out twin fans, it was of bright red colour and the tips of the frame glinted with metal, the sharp points that made it a weapon.
