"Oh...." Lin paused for a moment thinking about it, "Okay!"
She grinned at the stair like it was going to be lunch before lifting herself up onto it. Edging her knee over the side as if she was trying to get out of a swimming pool. On one sense it was much easier than getting out of a swimming pool, no water to hold one down.

Lore looked thoughtful, wondering which would be easier of the two to visit first. It would be good to see her grandparents, but he wasn't sure if he was ready to meet more family, especially since this was the family that possibily knew and she was quite close to.
"Perhaps your old friend," he replied softly.

Elnara smiled brightly and tucked Silvrendir into one arm so that with her other one she could link arms with Lore.
"I think you'll like him," she said warmly, putting her head against his shoulder. "He's really very kind, very friendly. He and his father have a jewelry shop."
And she nodded in the direction of the shop she was leading them to, that had a sign painted on the window: Elurin Designs, by Feanor and Aranhil Elurin.

Lore looked up at the sign thoughtfully, "That's good to know."
He let her link his arm now that he wasn't holding both children.

Elnara led the way into the shop and looked aorund a bit, letting memories wash over her again.
"Oooo," Idhril gasped, "look at all the pretty things!" And she reached out and tried to touch some of it.

The shop was fairly sizable, and well-lit. Rows of counters lined the walls and the middle of the shop, and each one was covered with jewelry of every description imaginable. From common stones to exquisite gems, common metal to precious ores, everything was there. It ranged in quality and complexity, and the more intricate pieces were displayed closer to the cash counter than the door.
Suddenly a warm voice called out from somewhere in the back of the shop, "Welcome to Elurin Designs! We'll be with you in just one moment!"

Lore chuckled as he edged Idhril closer to him with the arm he used to hold her, "Careful now," he murmured, "We'll take a closer look at them in a moment okay?"
He was sure it was far too tempting not to touch, and Idhril seemed quite prone to shiny things. Lore had to smile warmly at that though, she was so adorable that way.

"But it's all so pretty, Papa," Idhril giggled; but she drew her hand back and tucked it under her as she leaned against his shoulder. Her golden eyes spotted something on a display against the wall, and she pointed.
"Look, Mama!" she said brightly. "It's like your bracelet!"
Elnara stepped around Lore so that she could see, and smiled. "Yes, it is," she agreed with her daughter, looking at the silver bracelet with runes engraved in it. "This must be where it was made, then. I know the craftsmanship is of good enough quality."
Then, to Lore, she explained, "Aranhil and Feanor are the most skilled of their trade in the entire Four Lands. Much of their work can be even above what an elf can afford ... though they keep their prices fair, and are willing to take more than gold in trade."

There was the sound of a door, and an elf appeared behind the counter. He was very kind-looking, and handsome, and very neatly dressed. His shoulder-length black hair was pulled back in a neat low ponytail, and he had warm brown eyes and dusky skin. He wore a red tunic with gold trim and a pair of neatly pressed black pants. He was tall and lean, and his hands, though slightly calloused, were thin and his fingers slender.
Elnara had her back to him when he entered the shop from the back, and he didn't recognize her when he looked around and called out, "Let me know if I can help you with anything."
He was intrigued by the tall, white-haired elf, but Aranhil had never been one to make comments about those who were different. Even when he had first seen the angels, Yue and Yukito, he hadn't batted an eye.

Lore looked on in interest, his study interrupted by the kind voice that floated behind him. He turned slightly to see Aranhil there, and nodded with a smile.
"Just looking so far," he murmured.
Though he wondered if this was the person Elnara meant, or was the person someone else?

Elnara turned at the sound of the voice and smiled widely.
"Hello, Aranhil," she said brightly, though there was a hint of hesitation in her voice as well. After all, she didn't know if he had been told about her, and if he had been, what his reaction might have been.
Idhril sat up straight in Lore's arms and beamed at Aranhil, her golden eyes almost glowing with excitement. "Hi!" she chirped. "Are you Mama's friend?"
Silvrendir opened one wing, then grinned and folded it again, looking from Elnara to Aranhil, and back again.

It took a moment, but Aranhil slowly recognized Elnara. His eyes grew wide and his jaw dropped in shock. "Elnara?"
He heard the tiny child's words and felt something squeeze in his chest. He swallowed hard and blinked a few times, but no more words would come.
He had never imagined that she might return, especially to see him. He had given up on her completely ... He felt his face warming, right to the tips of his ears, and he tried to clear his throat of the lump that he felt growing in it.

Lore watched quietly, he, being quite hypersensitive to how other elves reacted did not see any 'harm' emotions coming to the man's face. There was something else though that Lore could not well placed.
Though he smiled at Idhril's forwardness.

Elnara laughed a little nervously and hugged Silvrendir a little tighter.
"Surprise?" she offered sheepishly. "I ... um ... would have sent word, but it's kind of difficult between worlds, and ... I really didn't know whether or not I would even be coming here ... er, we, that is ..."
She reached for Lore's arm and directed him towards the counter, towards her old friend.
"Aranhil," she said softly, "this ... is a very small portion of my family. Lore, and my two youngest, Idhril and Silvrendir."
Silvrendir turned in Elnara's arms so that he could face Aranhil, then waved and smiled brightly. True to his nature, however, he said nothing.
Idhril was equally as true to her nature, and she giggled and made herself comfortable in Lore's arms before opening up and becoming very chatty. "Mama promised for a long time that we would come here and visit but she didn't say anything about all the pretty things that are here! Where did you get all of it? Or did you make it? Mama said something about people here who make things, was that you?"

Aranhil finally managed to get rid of the lump in his throat, and he pushed away the tightness in his chest and swallowed again, then forced a smile. A family ... well. It had been a long time, he really should have expected nothing less.
"Welcome back," he said finally, his voice smoother than he had hoped it would be. "It's ... been a long time ..."
He turned to the man and smiled again. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir ..."
Why oh why didn't his voice sound natural to him?
