Well this was macbre topic now wasn't it? She really didn't have much to add, seeing as these were mostly drow matters. THough okay she'd admit it, if that was the case with Sevilin then she probably did feel bad for him. It wasn't fun being at the mercy of life and those that held you in thier clutches. A look to Malik, she wasn't convinced. "If I have this dogma correct, and on my father's word, he shouldn't even be a Master rune mage, yet he seems to have gotten his hands on that." That was her implying that he could have fun little drow toys, Malik didn't concretely know. "No there is a difference between his general attitude and your lack of PR skills. You can at least show sincere delight about something."

"I'd really rather not go into all that." Yes, she knew about it. She knew how spiders acted and how women treated men in her hometown. She knew it all, did that mean she had to sit here and talk about it? No, and she wasn't going to. It did strike as interesting though that Piper knew he shouldnt' be a Master Rune Mage. "You're right Piper, which I have asked him about many times and never gotten a straight answer. He shouldn't be a Master and I'm sure if those females ever found out he was, sacrifice would be his only option."

"A means to an end. He wanted out. that's obvious by his acts aroudn you, and refusing to do what you ask him to do or even act remotely nice to you. your the symbol of the life he loathed. being a Rune mage gave him teh means to do so, and power over others, particularly women who wouldn't expect that kind of retaliation. of course that only being if push came to shove. the Andal gates work by runes, and that might have been another motivation. to get off the plane, another reason he was willing to broker a deal with your father to come here."
a small smile to Piper.
"You might have a bit more in common than you think. both of you looking to escape a life you didn't want to be part of. Hmm. that's true of Zahara too, isn't it. and if he even was able to get those drow toys that he shouldn't be able to...you know I defend you with my life. he'd have to get past me, and every being in the house to get to you. Broog alone would put a hurting on him and you know it."
than a shake of his head.
"But enough of such troublesome subjects. Oh, and feel free to prod me if you want, Zahara. If there are any questions you have?"

"I frankly want to know who the hell trained him in the first place." Yes wasn't that the little mystery. Only female Andalian drow were rune mages, and she was sure as hell that one of them wouldn't teach him, and even if they did, to that level. But oh what an interesting thing Malik had pointed out, couldn't say she was elated to share something with him though. But she nodded your head. "I think you'd have to fight with Broog for a turn at him." Though a blink...he was being...personable. What did he realize just how much he was overstepping himself and the consequences of that?

Yes, he just had to point out the fact that were both trying to escape from a life they no longer wanted any part of. Malik did bring up some good points though, she had to give him that. A means to an end indeed, in his position she probably would have done exactly teh same. Anything to get her out of that life that she no longer wanted to live. "Questions I might have? Concerning what? I know all about the Drow society, I lived there. Although I've been sitting her for the last ten minutes trying to figure out what 'toy' you are referring to."

"anything. though the toy reffering to is a chain with a hook. any pain given to the one holding the chain, gets transferred the one one with the hook in them. my kind called it a misery chain. usually we bound two together with it, often lovers or family, and then beat the hell out of the one when the chain. guess the name was a sadistic joke to go with the 'misery loves company' phrase."

They weren't going to go there, were they? Though as soon as that thought came about, it seemed Malik did go there. For a moment her hand left her collar to rest on the left portion of her collar bone, mind bringing up the injury to mind and the mempry. It still hurt to bow shoot too long. But Piper shook her head to stave off the thoughts. But she couldn't believe how he followed up on it so casualty with the Tier'Dal interpertation...she thought she was going to get sick.

She knew what he was referring to when he called it the misery chain. She'd heard of it but never actually used it herself or seen anyone use it before. Malik's congenial mood caught her quite by surprise and for a moment she wasn't completely sure how to react. It was strange to actually have him tell her she could question him on anything, not that she had any questions whatsoever to ask. She didn't want to know about Tier'Dal nor did she want to hear about his extensive knowledge on torture devices. "How awful..." Yes, one word or two word answers was about all she was giving.

"Yes it is."
That was all on that subject he was giving, as he knew Piper was not feeling so hot about it.
"You do realize your still wearing an outfit tomorrow. that was the deal you so foolishly walked yourself into. besides...I know what's going on with you. and if you want to keep him away, what better way to put him on all alerts than to show up in a sheer green outfit?"
Of course Malik had no intention of letting them get apart. after all, he'd have his own special delivery comign soon enough from Andal.

And then they returned to the subject of her little deal or whatever they called it. These drow, they were tough on thier deals weren't they, then again she was too, but it was interesting to see who would keep the deals. Though Malik did have a point. "You know, he is right about that one part." Indeed, Sevilin would probably avoid her like the plague...it would at least be amusing. But a sigh as they were nearing home and she looked over to Malik for a moment. She was contemplating the length of time before he would deliver a lecture to her for running off like she had.

She had absolutely no desire to fight with Malik on the terms of that deal right now so she didn't agree or disagree. She wondered briefly what Sevilin would do if he saw her in slave garb. He probably would avoid her like the plague, though even that would be funny to watch. Besides it wasn't like the slaves wore a lot less than she did though there's was a lot more reveling than hers was...if that was even possible. If you asked her, she'd tell you there was no way someone could wear something more revealing than what she did. Oh was she wrong. "Whatever." She glanced ahead at Triumverate Fortress and sighed. Home sweet home.

Malik only shrugged his shoulders, then glanced over at Piper with a grin.
"How about you, any questions for me?"
Almost home. wonder if Sevilin had slipped into a reverie while they were out. probably woudln't be a good one if he didn't get that little subliminal message out of his mind with the one he had last night.

Cold. It was always cold. Her muscles were cramped with shivering. Even thought she lay on soft sheets, she could not move around enough to get underneath them. Well, not that she could now anyway; layer after layer of dried blood had fused the sheets to the matress.
He played with her...wait, he? She? Meilikki didn't know anymore. She doubted this new sense of sight as much as she distrusted her ears and nose. Tarathiel's form ahd only been the begining. She grew tired torturing her with that...she couldn't trust anybody anymore. Her closest comrades...familiar aquaintences...all paid her visits. During the day..during the night, she didn't know anymore. Time slurred together like the river she so often used to watch.
Whenever he...she...entered the room...there fired in her chest some small glimer of hope. Perhaps this time, it truly was the person whome thier form described. It never was. Roarke and Warren, Malik and Tanundra, Warhammer and Aella, Piper and Alaran....gender was not spared on her.
Sometimes, she was unchained, left alone. Weak, she would stumble from the bed but some obstical blocked her. She could not find the door. The door was there, but would not open. She could not touch the knob because it was red with heat. Or perhaps, she would get the door open, only to find one of her own comrades behind it, who would drag her back to the bed.
How? How would she ever be able to tell the real from the fake, when her inner eye was closed, when her eyes and nose and ears fail her utterly?
How was she even alive? Several times she would awake, not from sleeping but from blacking out, and find those small viles with the silvery liquid empty on the bedstand. She understood why it clouded her eyes, why her visions had never been quite the same since being fed it. it was liquid blessed by the sky father, slowly numbing her abilities....and as it now completley destroyed it.

Onyx landed by the castle at was Tarathiel's dwelling, as far as he knew, and sniffed about the air. Something felt..off. like the place maybe was abandoned. He had not gone back to Triumverate Fortress...he was content to the wilds. Moonstone had become more open, friendlier to the populace, and almost in a reaction, Onyx had become colder, meaner.
The wild was what he loved. the hunt, the kill, the live by the survival of the fittest. the Beast that his father coudl never let free. Simon and he had spent time together, of course with Bode..but even then he was a bit distance to the 'father' he might have had. though closer to Bode. He even spoke less, mostly conveying emotion or simple answers with animalistic sounds.
"Whirlwind? are you here?"

Triple colored eyes blinked at her fiance'. He was pleasant to an extent...which meant one of three things, he was genuinely pleasant, was scheming, or was just giddy about playing with Zahara and Sevilin like he had been. She didn't know. "Can we make sure to have my lecture somewhere private and not in front of everyone else as soon as we get home?" Because that's what she assumed he was waiting for. No need to attract attention in the Underdark. But a slight shrug of her shoulders. "I don't really need to ask any questions of you A'mael. You're the open one in this relationship." Which was true, he always vounteered the information without prompt. Perhaps it was his age, it let him let go of things so easily that she at her young age couldn't still.
Contrary to popular belief, Sevilin was in the same exage spot that Malik had left him. Much to the slaves discomfort really. They hadn't known wether to ignore him or cater to him. Sevilin had thought it a fun game for a while, but not for very long.
He was too busy staving off reverie to focus on too much around him anyway, he really didn't care to experience such an odd distortion of memories and feelings. In fact, he had one of those books open, flipping through a sections that delt with the more mental influence of runes. What? He may be a Master, but he didn't remember everything all the time.
