"I only live a few blocks away," Isabelle said, and smiled. "But I'm new to the area so I'm still learning where things are. This park was a pleasant discovery!"
Cody was headed back with a tube of sunscreen in hand.

"Oh! Where are you from? Is it just another part of Arizona, or...?" He rested his elbow on the back of the bench to turn toward Isabelle. "My family comes from South Carolina, and then Massachusetts, and now here."

"I'm from Nevada," Isabelle said. "I've been to South Carolina, what part? Do you like it here?" And more importantly, was he single?
Cody was distracted halfway to where he'd left Dari. He spotted an ice cream truck and hurried over there instead. Dari liked chocolate... Hm. Which one would be best?

"Fort Mill," Dari said, and luckily he had actually been there. "I was pretty young when we moved, but I've been back since. I love it out here, though. Granted, I'm pretty easy to please."

"I've only been to the beaches there. They're just lovely," she smiled. "Oh?"
Cody headed towards the bench, holding two ice cream cones in his hands and sunscreen in the crook of his arm. "Hey," he greeted, smiling at Dari. He paused when he spotted Isabelle. ....Hm.

"Have you been to Goldwater Lake? It's only about 45 minutes from here, and it has a pretty nice beach," Dari said. He hadn't noticed Cody coming back yet. "Have you ever been to New England?"

"I haven't!" Isabelle smiled happily. "When my friends heard I was moving to Arizona they thought I was crazy. But I found the greenest part of the desert." She smiled again.
Cody went around the bench. He was frowning thoughtfully. He offered Dari his ice cream cone.

"You definitely did!" Dari said with a grin, "it can be a little more expensive, but it's worth it. You can actually have a garden out h-- oh?"
Dari smiled to Cody and took the cone.
"Thank you. Cody, this is Isabelle. Isabelle, Cody."

Isabelle looked up at Cody. Hm. Darren definitely one upped him on the looks, didn't he? "Nice to meet you," she said, offering her hand. Cody took and shook it briefly.
"You too. Dari, I brought sunscreen." He set the bottle down in front of him. He made a face. He didn't like to think of Dari's past; the guy had lost his parents and had been sheltered most of his life. But he'd said he'd only recently discovered he was gay. What if Toby was wrong? What if it was all a fluke? He shifted awkwardly.

"Oh, thanks," Dari said. He was sure he could burn, but would it heal quickly? Would he even feel it? "Can you... um." He offered his ice cream back to Cody so he could sunscreen himself up.
"We actually met here," Dari said to Isabelle while he traded for the sunscreen.

Cody took the ice cream, taking a bite of his own to prevent it from melting. "I still say that was the best mistake of my life."

Poor, naive Dari still hadn't realized that Isabelle was flirting with him. He himself would talk to anyone happily with no expectations. He was still learning to read other people's friendliness.
"Hm? Oh! He's my boyfriend," Dari said, nodding toward Cody. "Sorry." He probably should have said it for Isabelle's own good.

Oh. How awkward. "Well it was nice meeting you, Darren, Cody," She said, giving the two a smile, "I think I'll finish my walk. Thanks for the tip about the lake!" She vacated the seat and walked in a more hurried manner than before.
Cody shook his head, baffled. He sat beside Dari. "Here," he said, offering him his ice cream. "I'll put it on." He took the tube and opened it, taking a bit and booping Dari's nose with a finger.

Dari frowned. That fast, she was gone. He'd never see her again. Why did people do that? He sighed and shrugged, then smiled to Cody.
"Okay." He laughed when Cody booped his nose and took a bite of ice cream with the smear there while he maintained eye contact with Cody. "Thank you." Mmm.
"This is good."
