Yep, because of course, in your tiny little mind, intelligence is rated by the ability to recognize characters from a series of childrens books that one may or may not have read from tiny little snippets lacking almost all distinguishing features.

My sole consolance is that this is the same mind that declares that all American Music sounds totally alike while the denizens of two Japanese genres of music all sound totally difference.

The fact that I can quote from Sun Tzu's Art of War, Sun Pin's Rebuttal to Sun Tzu's Art of War, and Musashi's Book of Five Rings as well as explain and apply the military principles within in the contexts of both a combat and noncombat situation mean nothing.

Neither does the fact that I have read over 1000 books in my life, easily.

There's also been hype about other books too... some series of which I follow. Some of these books are Manga, and many members of this guild read them. Harry Potter is not the only book out there... and while it might consume your world, some of us who work 40+ hour work weeks, make regular visits to babysit their nephews, go shopping for food and other necessities, and do the little tasks that run the households we are in charge of don't automatically thinkg "********! I feel a tingling in my spine! Someone must be talking about Harry Potter!"



I saw a chain of icons that I couldn't identify at a glance and seemed to contain no reason why I needed to know more about them.

I also didn't see any real link made between them and the link in question.

I was kind enough to link it because I knew some people haven't read the spoilers / book. I'm oh-so-sorry that I didn't put it on Photobucket for people stupid enough not to infer that it's a HP thing.
Once again, stupid enough not to infer that a seemingly random totally unidentified link doesn't automatically refer to Harry ******** Potter.

I find it funny that you can defend knowing nothing about American music (and I mean NOTHING) by saying that you don't like it, but people who don't follow, read, watch, or read about Harry Potter are expected by you to know plenty about ******** hypocrite.


And it gets worse when you can come in here and deal of s**t that other people like on a regular basis, because we all have to respect your opinion but someone makes one pithy remark about what was marked as a spoiler logically needing some kind of identifier... oh noes, idiocy.

By your logic, every nonfan of where these references come from should be able to identify them. The books they are from have sold millions, the writer is critically acclaimed by some of the biggest magazines and institutions for his genre, and he has more than 20 books.

You don't know the HP characters. Fine. I know plenty of people who don't read the books and don't care for them, but still know about the characters or general plot since it's fairly ubiquitous and very popular at the moment. So I apologize if I'm using my knowledge base to unfairly judge your ability to make connections here, but every time I read that conversation, it still reads like you're being deliberately obtuse just so you have a chance to jump down Musuu's throat. Again.

So she didn't adequately label her link. It wasn't clear. Fine. You win. Can we not turn every little thing into a monstrous argument? Would it be so incredibly difficult to figure that if you didn't know what she was making a reference to, you could just not click the link? And, perhaps, not turn it into another giant bitchfest?

I won't try to speak for everyone in the guild, but it's seriously making it a less enjoyable place for me, at the very least.
