"In a way, yes," Michael replied, and then nodded, "I have the most energy then. I assure you that I was not as solid as I looked. I intended to make you think otherwise, I believe." He shook his head and moved through the couch to sit soundlessly and without weight beside Kevin. He now only appeared from he waist up.
"Yes."

"You were pretty cool," Kevin said, after a moment. "Scared me! I didn't think anything could scare me but you did!" He smiled at the ghost. "I'm glad you're better now though."
His smile dropped. "I don't understand humans," he said. "They call kelpies demons and all sorts of stuff but we kill to eat. And they kill each other for sport. Why would anyone want to hurt someone like you?"

Michael touched his own throat and disappeared for a flicker of a moment.
"Yes. All better." He offered another smile. "Humans are a difficult species. I can't say it was for sport, exactly. Some killers do it for sport, but my mentor was sick, or else he had entirely convinced himself I had done something wrong. It was not pleasant, being murdered. It does things to a man. Or a woman." He had met enough other ghosts by now to know.

"I don't think you could've done anything wrong," Kevin said, with a shake of his head. "I'm sorry it happened. When you're feeling better, do you Want to help me scare Lori?"

"Well, thank you," Michael said with a slight nod. He paused then, his eyes flickering to the side, and then turned back to Kevin, offered another smile, and nodded.
"He's pretty hard to scare, but we can try." He wasn't particularly feeling like scaring anyone in the past few... well, days, he was pretty sure. One, or maybe four... had it only been a few hours? He winced and flickered out of existence, then disappeared completely.

"I don't think he's hard to scare, we just have to catch him unaware." He paused; Michael had disappeared! "Are you invisible?" he asked. "Maybe we should go to your room. Can you rest there?"

His voice sounded like a breath of air, but strong. It was almost as if he was in Kevin's head again.
"I can rest anywhere." And he could be anywhere at any time. He spent some time watching people live now and again from the veil of invisibility. It was comforting.

"So you can rest here?" Kevin asked. The guy was obviously tired. What happened when a ghost wore themselves out? "Do ghosts sleep?" he asked, curiously.

"I can." He was resting now, intangible and invisible. The only effort he was making was in speaking.
"We do not sleep. We... go away. We watch, we float, we lose time. We do not sleep."

"And that'll make you feel better?" Kevin asked. It sounded a lot like sleeping; losing track of time. "I'm really glad we're friends, Michael. We should scare Toby someday, too."

"Yes," Michael responded. There was a silence then for a little while, maybe as if Michael had left. Then he spoke again. "I am glad as well. When I feel better, we can do whatever you'd like."

Dari waved happily to Cody as he went back to the car. He had offered to come! Cody, however, had been insistent. He felt warm and wonderful, and he smiled and he leaned back on the now half-empty bench.

A woman had been walking the path alone before she noticed Dari. She smiled; was he alone too? Maybe he'd been hoping to meet someone? She sat next to him and smiled. "Hi, I'm Isabelle," she introduced herself, turning slightly to look at him.
Cody was digging in the car for sunscreen. Poor Dari wasn't wearing any, and with the brightness of the sun he was bound to get sunburnt!

Oh, look! A new person! Dari opened his eyes and smiled to the girl beside him. He offered his hand to her.
"I'm Darren." 'Dari' was for friends now. He liked it.

Isabelle took his hand and shook it, smiling. "Nice fo meet you, Darren. Do you come here often?" If so, she'd have to start coming here more!
