Kevin backed up immediately. He turned around and tried to open the door. "Stop it, Michael. I'm trying to be nice!" It was only recently, that he learned how to be nice, after all."Lets go play a game. Or do something." He took his cell phone out of his pocket and quickly turned it on. "Look I have games on here, we don't have to leave!"

The sounds stopped. Kevin wasn't going to get to the door. Michael stood between him and the door, somehow visible without illumination and covered in blood. He reached up and grabbed a handful of his own curls, peeled his head back and off with those awful sounds and lifted it for Kevin to see, all hauntingly slowly.
Maybe Lori had been right.

Kevin went pale. He backed away a step and swallowed back the bile in his throat. His eyes were wide, and then he closed them, covering his ears with his hands.
Apparently even a kelpie couldn't take what Michael was showing him.

In defense of Kevin's ear-covering he would hear the horrible sounds of the crime scene. The door behind Michael opened out into the hall, but Kevin was going to need to go around or through him to get to it, and the ghost looked pretty solid.

Kevin opened an eye, as if to make sure the sounds he was hearing weren't real. The door was open now. He took a deep breath and made to go around Michael. He needed Toby. "I won't bother you again. Can I go?"

Michael turned to watch Kevin go, head still in-hand and staring, but he didn't stop him. MURDER was written rather largely in blood across the blank wall in the hall, but that was it. The lights were back on for the moment. Kevin was free to go.

Kevin saw the word, and darted off towards Toby's office as fast he could. He was almost expecting the ghost to chase after him. Once inside, he ran to Toby and wrapped his arms tightly around him. It didn't seem like he'd be letting go any time soon.

Chasing wasn't exactly Michael's style, especially after such a complex event there in his room. Toby had been rising to retrieve a file and got a kelpie to the chest hard. He gave a soft "oof" and then wrapped his arms around Kevin reflexively and rubbed his back.
"Did Michael get you?"
There was less of a chance of becoming a target if you were in a group. As active agents, Toby and Dari and Lori were not as deeply affected as the others. They'd seen the same or worse, although Dari always expressed empathy and sadness when Michael sobbed or screamed or wrote on the walls or stared at him-- basically anything on this day in particular.

Kevin nodded, arms tightening around Toby. He was shaking. "I just wanted to cheer him up," he muttered against Toby's chest. "Can I stay in here?"

Oh no. Kevin had actually approached him? Had he gone to his room?! Toby felt personally responsible for not seeking Kevin out and warning Kevin. He should have! The poor kelpie was always wandering around the main building unsupervised.
"Yeah, yeah, of course," Toby said, stroking Kevin's back. "You know it's not him. He can't control himself."

"I thought he'd never let me leave!" Kevin was calming; the presence of three adults was definitely soothing. "I tried plugging my ears but I could still hear! And he--" he shuddered. No there weren't words for what he'd seen. "I came to find you as soon as I got away."

Okay, so maybe Michael had lost a little friend. Toby hoped not, but the poor kid was really shook-up.
"He's powerful, but he's not--" Evil? He seemed evil at times. Dangerous? He could be. He never kept you forever, though. He put on his little show and let you go. It had happened to Toby himself when they'd first found him. The werewolf sighed and shook his head. "Okay. Why don't you take a seat?"
"I have some games on my laptop, if you'd like," Dari piped up.

Kevin hesitated, and reluctantly released Toby to look over at Dari. "Games?" he asked. "What kind of games?"

"It's mostly just time-killers. I don't have anything fancy here." Dari pulled his laptop from his bag and began setting it up. He might have suggested Kevin go back to his apartment where he'd be safer, but at this point Michael might be right there waiting to follow him. You could never know.
"That's what we bring on missions. Time-killers indeed..." Toby commented and looked to Maia. Still ok? Good.

Kevin went to the laptop. Time killers or not, anything was better than what he'd just seen. He selected snake and began playing.
Maia had her phone out. She was texting someone. In fact, she was texting Toby. A number of emoticons would pop up next time he opened his texts. Most of them looked like this ":< : c : s".
