Pugilism : The Westward FistRank E: At the beginning of a fighters career and his understanding of how to use their hands as a weapon, all beginning Pugilists know how to hold a proper fighting pose and how to throw four special shots at different costs.
Jab - 5 Energy - A jab is a fast-paced blow designed to off-set an opponent more than damage them. It's made to make them dance if not dodge.
Ability: Inflicted hit causes an opponent to stumble and lose 2 speed for two posts.
Hook - 8 Energy - A hook is a wide-armed swing of the fist designed to actually cause damage as opposed to the jab merely being used to distract and keep guard up with.
Ability: Upon successful contact, the opponent takes an additional 2 points of damage and is a Slight Distance (5 feet) away from the originator of the punch.
Uppercut - 10 Energy - An uppercut serves the purpose of being a very precise move that when applied correctly, can typically send someone flying a considerable distance. And any punch that is going directly up the torso is bound to strike one of two things: the general abdomen or the lower jaw.
Ability: Upon successful contact of the strike, an opponent, based upon their impact zone will be either knocked back 10 feet and suffer 2 points of damage
(Torso shot) or
(Head shot) 6 feet and 3 points of damage.
Suckerpunch - 15 Energy - A suckerpunch is a cheap shot by anyone's opinion. But the deal with a trained person using a sucker punch, is that they are using their speed and weight to add to the actual gravity of the bow instead of running up and punching. The gyrations of the body, the arc and angle at which the hips and arms bend allow someone to actually do a lot of damage. Ability: The Suckerpunch itself bases its underlying damage off of prior stats such as strength, but at the cost of what your speed is you can add in those points and allow your fist to do more damage.
Using the Suckerpunch would cause you to recharge all Pugilistic skills for two turns deprived of usage.
Example: Suppose Johnny here with a strength of three is fighting Burt with a whopping 7 in Strength... Well Johnny, despite his weak muscles knows that he's a quick little bugger and that Burt is slow to boot. So if Johnny, using his speed of 8 were to rush at Burt that could be the potential of Johnny doing more damage, a form of finishing move if you really think about it. Uh oh, Burt's back up! He's woozy alright. Bleeding from the teeth like a horse kicked him, but he's not down for the count.
Well Burt here is going to use an Uppercut on Johnny, striking him clean in the stomach and sending him reeling back a good ten feet. Johnny is looking pretty beaten up there...
In addition to the four Punch Styles at Rank E, a pugilist possesses an ability called "Throw" allowing him to grab any object they could manage and repel it at the target based upon 1 for whatever item used, 1/4 of their natural strength and 1/4 of their speed.
So if Johnny did that with these numerics: Speed 8, Strength 3, Johnny would do at minimum 4 points of damage.
