~at the Hospital~
A few minutes later a Police officer comes over with the hospitals advocate. "Mrs. Daine, I understand men broke into your house and attack your husband, the officer at the scene the said you mentioned something about your daughter being taken?"
"Y-yes, I-" Oh Mercy, what do I tell them? No one would believe me if.. and maybe that would put her in danger.. "I think they must have gotten spooked by something, as I was driving over I saw her on the side of the road, that’s why it took me so long to get here. she doesn't seem hurt, but she is awfully frightened."
“I’m sure, a traumatic night all around. Did you see either of the men?”
“Just the one, He handed me a note, but I seem to have lost it somewhere…”
“I see, Did you read the note?”
“N-no…”
“Mrs. Daine, if you paid a ransom and that’s why it took you so long to get here, I under stand really. It’s the Men who did this I am after, and now that she is safe, we can focus on finding them, you don’t have hide anything.”
“I’m not trying to, Honestly, its just, it was a normal night things we going so good, I really don’t know why this happened. Do we have to do this now?” Veronica clings to her mother, and the officer hears the note of hysteria in her voice
“No, tomorrow, if you can, I’d like to have you look through some pictures and see if we can match the man you saw. I’m Sorry Mrs. Daine to have upset you. Do you have someone you can stay with tonight? I believe CSU is still going over your house.”
“I think so, if not we can always get a hotel room.”
“If you think of anything, or need anything tonight, please give me a call.” He gives her his card. “Goodnight Mrs. Daine.
