*Nana hadn't been aware of the ship in the sky, the Cradle. But this man, Tegral had been one of those who saught to destroy her home and way of life not that long ago. It was amazing they could stand there now, in a peaceful situation, at least for now. No doubt several things were running through Nana's mind right then, she was snapped back to reality when the admiral asked her a question; her relationship to Mastema*
Hnn~ Ah-- y-yes... I am.
*Perhaps it was true what they say, "Opposites attract", or so it appeared in the case of Mastema and Nana. The man the region knew as cold, destructive, and 'evil' had a wife that was warm, couldn't hurt a fly, and seemed anything but 'evil'. It was a wonder where Mastema had found her, let alone how the two had gotten together. Perhaps though it was for the better, since Nana had appeared most agressiveness from the Citadel had stopped, and they had changed from that agressiveness to a more defensive stance. But one woman wasn't enough to do all that surely? Being uncertain however, it was no surprise that Tegral was scanning the woman. To cause that kind of change there had to be a reason. The scans probably wouldn't show Tegral everything he wanted to know but a few things for sure. For Nana's height she seemed well proportioned weight wise. From head to toe not including her hair, Nana stood at 6"1, a tall woman. Surprisingly the woman did have some muscle, though she didn't look it Nana did play some sports. There didn't appear to be much for calasses so she was no fighter. In ways of energy scans they might be a little inconclusive, partially because of the way Nana was put together though there wouldn't be no info at all. A constant pulse of energy would likely be detected, that would have been Nana's core, though its location would be indetermined. Nana did use magic, and taught her children aswell. What that would show up as on Tegral's scans only he could tell. If Tegral did have to face Nana in single combat, offensively he would of course have the advantage, Nana had no more than extremely basic hand to hand combat skills. Defensively Nana could likely hold her own, that too was built into her. As a Witness she had to protect the knowledge she gained on her missions until it could be passed on, at all costs. For that reason, her ability to defend herself was made to be top notch*

Tegral watched Nana in the same way one might watch a strange science experiment, although his eyes conveyed nothing but a flat emotionless gaze he was still very much enthralled by his readings. "So," He started in hopes of bringing the little - little compared to him who stood almost half a foot taller than she - "Does Mastema's wife have a name, or are you more into titles?" The merest hint of a humorous smile passed his fake lips. Despite his not to long ago threat of ultimate destruction and death Tegral was trying - none too successfully if the stuttering and wandering mind were any connection - to soothe and calm the woman. He wanted to sigh in exasperation! How much easier would it be if he simply reached out and snapped her bony little neck? Mastema would likely become infuriated and come hunting Tegral, and would die for his attempts. One on one the Admiral was confident in his ability to kill Mastema, the old has-been was yesterdays news and was only around because he hid like the coward he had become, afraid of the new and dominant powers that now held the Black Company in their vice! If Mastema brought his Zenogais units then Rookin and Kah can dispatch those well enough, anyone else is just raw meat for the B.G. 41's, T-2's, Z-34's, Growlers, Quads, and all the rest of Tegral's killtacular army.
Kah's interference in the argument taking place had little impact on the Admiral, as a whole, but twice he had to relay orders to not kill anyone while they were inside the Temple's compound. Thanatos was a ******** idiot, Tegral said as much before Nana had a chance to give a name. "You're son is very near to being killed. The idiot should shut his mouth before he loses it and his head." A quick glance over his shoulder would reveal his meaning if Nana hadn't seen Special Operative Kah approach the gathering already. Of all the units under his command there were few as deadly as Kah, but none as crazy. She was mentally unbalanced, for what ever reason they couldn't find, and was prone to outburst of violent and destructive mannerisms at the drop of a pin.
Twice and twice rejected, Kah fumed within her armor plated self at the Admiral. It'd be so quick to quick activate her Drive Cannon and put a round clear through his face! But no, the Admiral had - not once but twice - told her to stand her ground and refrain from killing anyone in the complex. That would have put a smile on her lips if she'd let it, which she did. A hunter's grin stalking her prey, a deadly smile. Running a weapons diagnostic on herself, none of which had to be actually armed for such an feat, made her want to smile broader. "Now, now, little boy, best you take yourself back to mommy and daddy before someone here decides to put your nose in a corner." Stupid little ********. "Listen big fella," She said turning towards Baptistian, "There's so many power houses in this room right now we could power a city for a month. This guy's electro field isn't doing a damn thing to anyone but the twerp here, and only because he's got some hero complex because his daddy keeps him locked in a tower. Drop the matter and let's get back on with the party. He's," Thanatos, "killing the vibe."

There was no shortness of tension in this place, and it was getting thicker by the minute. Both Ka'rinth and Thanatos had had their say, and Kah also had something to say about it. True enough, there was a lot of power in the temple right now, and a fragile peace brought on if only out of curiosity as to whom the host was. Still, at least most seemed kind enough to leave their weapons at the door, or deactivate them. Once they stepped through the door their weapons would be deactivated for certain, this included Kah's drive cannon. Now back to Ka'rinth and Thanatos. Removing Thanatos from this two foot zone around Ka'rinth would help elevate the boy's arm twitch. If they stayed at least two or three meters appart for the duration of the party, they should be fine. It was true thought that Ka'rinth had an advantage over others at the party with his ability to disrupt scans and imaging devices. If he felt the need to conceil himself so badly there may not be a reason for him to be at the party. No one was going to take his picture or scan him, he didn't need to disrupt anything with his electromagnetic fields. The party was meant to be peaceful, if he didn't feel safe at all he should go elsewhere, where he would feel at ease. Baptistain's head would spin a little at the speech, "she said he said", considering Thanatos was clearly male. What a headache, and The Count had not even appeared yet and already the guests could not fully contain their-- enthusiasm? The boy did bring up a good point however, could someone who is able to conceal anything on his person be allowed to remain in the public gathering space? Ka'rinth had said he himself was a weapon, and would curb himself while inside. Now however there was a small altrication taking place. If too much of a scene was made, both would be asked to take it outside, if only so the rest of the guests could enjoy themselves. At the moment Thanatos and Ka'rinth were the main attraction. "Mr. Ka'rinth, I think it would be a good idea to take you up on that alternate form, if only to to calm this boy's nerves. Just the same, Lord Thanatos it would be a good idea if you did not get to close to this man, if his-- field is agitating your arm. I checked Mr. Ka'rinth at the door, he should have nothin' on him. Is that fine with you Lord Thanatos?"

Wh- what?
*Nana had taken note of Thanatos speaking to Ka'rinth and then calling for one of the doors men. As for Kah, she didn't know what to make of her. KB had said Nana's name in the admiral's presence so he probably only asked to be poliet. Unfortunately if Tegral killed Nana, Mastema's response would likely be as it always had. No furious explosion and hunting after him, more likely he'd just pick her lifeless body up, take it home and try to fix her. If Tegral wanted explosivenes, he would have to look more in Thanatos' direction. Mastema had no reason to bring his Beta units, it was a 'peaceful' party afterall*

"Please don't call me Lord; I have a computer at home that calls me that all the time if I need an ego boost. Just the same, I detest the idea of being a hero," Than sent the last comment toward Kah. Clearly being mechanized hadn't rid her of the troubles so many women Than had met seemed to have. Than also couldn't help but laugh at how Kah had lost track of her own argument after two sentences. Jumping from a room full of power houses to Ka'rinth's electro field hadn't worked out well for the girl.
"If I were sure that I was the only one affected by his field then I would have said nothing. The interference with my arm is minimal, since as he said the intensity is relatively low so long as he doesn't get angered, which I have to say is fairly easy from what I observe. By his own admission, he does have an electric field surrounding him. I'm not an expert, but it's very uncommon for anyone to be able to have full control over what such a fundamental force like an electric field has. This is further jeopardized by the fact that his emotions apparently have influence over its range and potential energy. So, despite the danger and unpredictability of an emotion influenced field, we should have no worries if he can contain himself. However, that's where my friend here has provided for my argument," Than gestured his arm to Kah, wondering as he spoke just how infuriated this woman could get if he turned her argument to his favor. "We have, in this one room, amounts of power almost insurmountable to any one of us here. We also know that all of these powers have at some point been in conflict, and the grudges and feelings of such conflict is still very strong, as also demonstrated by this lady's extreme dislike of me because of my family heritage, even though, I should note, I have never once met her. To exemplify my point, we'd essentially be leaving a set of dry matches over a furiously burning flame, albeit a contained one. You've already seen several instances that support the idea, including myself if you want to view this flatly as a personal tiff, that there will be altercations between attendees. My point, if this man's irritability affects how this field works, can we afford to let it remain in a room of people who need no immediate reason, personal or remote, to lunge at one another's necks?" The way Thanatos spoke his argument wouldn't come off with an arrogant tone. They were words spoken from someone who believed there was an unresolved point and earnestly wanted to know the final say on the matter. The resolution could very well shape the manner in which all party attendees could be allowed to interact.

Ka’rinth suddenly began laughing sharply revealing a large number of teeth as his red eyes were covered by a series of eyelids that quickly made them look brown. Without his cloak on the manner in which his body suppressed the field was shown as his clothing was revealed to actually be a part of his body that writhed and split revealing tissue beneath it’s surface instead of skin. The tissue was filled with energy and slowly split as bones emerged and his torso itself actually opened up and his outer layer of ‘skin’ was pulled into his body while his muscles twisted with a soft sound somewhere between a hiss and a squish. His tail also moved into this cavity with a series of soft pops as the remainder of his skeletal structure unwove and became a dense layer on the outside of his muscles. Few actual organs were revealed in the change as Ka’rinth also dislocated his spinal column which was visible so that the rings could expand to encircle his flesh as the other bones already had done. His bones were actually as dense as lead so that at the end of the exercise that was done without blood loss and despite it’s appearance did not ruin the carpet the field was contained just inside of his bones. Slowly a thin layer of bone near the top began flowing like water and changing color and texture until it mimicked clothing and skin once more.
Ka’rinth smiled at the end and shivered slightly before saying, There, this will last for twenty minutes or so, having an exoskeleton at this size instead of a normal skeletal system is quite difficult. As he spoke, Ka’rinth’s tail emerged from his body and had taken a different form as well, it now resembled that of a scorpion with hard black chitin plates forming a length equal to his height. Ka’rinth cracked his neck as the tail swung around suddenly but instead of striking at Than as it may have seemed for an instant wrapped around his torso with surprising flexibility. No stinger was visible and Ka’rinth’s field was now contained beneath the first half inch of his skin. He turned his head to Than and with a smile said, I trust you didn’t see any weapons while I was changing? Or did you need a second look to make sure I didn’t have a knife? As he spoke Ka’rinth’s eyes remained hidden by the special lids which altered the spectrum that he viewed the world in and absorbed the field from escaping in that manner. Even as he spoke Ka’rinth’s right eye flickered slightly as two of the eyelids flickered rapidly on each eye and a ring of green was added around the brown pupil. Ka’rinth was now viewing the room in infrared and normal lighting. He had already decided that once his curiosity regarding the count was resolved he was going to release his body to Than while he exited.
Calmly Ka’rinth responded to Than’s most recent claims by saying, Enough with the altruistic bull s**t, no one had said anything to you about being disturbed by me. You took it upon yourself to disturb me on the claim of your arm being bothered. Don’t play childish games of pulling other parties into your arguments. Now go back to your corner or your father’s leash and don’t bother me until after the host has appeared. Once my curiosity is appeased I will be more than happy to speak with you outside. Even now Ka’rinth could not be scanned beyond a minor level because of the bone density and underlying field but it was of little concern as he turned to Baptistian and said, Sir, as you have seen, I am willing to respect you and the host you represent’s views on conduct. However as he has just admitted he is the one that has a problem here. He has voiced that there will be altercations between attendees yet I had not spoken to anyone when he began this argument. Perhaps it would be most efficient to simply remove the aggressors from the room as they show themselves? Also if I may ask, how much longer until our host arrives? I am eager to see him before Thanatos here tries to find another reason to bother me at which point you might just have to ask us both to leave. Truthfully even now Ka’rinth was listening intently hoping for Than to give him a reason to strike and carry them both outside, after all Ka’rinth still maintained other methods of viewing.
That said Ka’rinth bowed slightly to Kah and said softly, Thank you for truly putting a third party perspective on the proceedings. I am Ka’rinth and it is a pleasure to meet you. His voice was soft and part of his mind couldn’t help but remember Selyna before she had outlived her usefulness and he had killed and consumed her. The werecat had been a particularly fun toy though her instability caused by torture and being pulled in different directions had been her downfall. He wondered if he would have a chance to tell Focht about how she died, it just might push his old friend to doing something of interest.

Barring Ka'rinth's melo-dramatic transformation which was mostly useless, at least something was achieved by the man changing forms. The field was contained, so its immediate danger was averted for the moment, but it still didn't address the point Than had made in his last argument. Still, that wasn't Than's concern; it was Baptistian's. "Altruistic? Please, get your idealogies right before you accuse me of them, especially the self defeating ones. I'm not doing this for 'the good of everyone' in the way that altruism would make it out; regardless, I don't intend this to be a debate of rookie philosophy." He snorted slightly, "remove all the possible aggressors and there will be nothing left of the party. However, with your field contained for now, there isn't immediate danger to worry about." Than then turned to Baptistian. "As long as the field is containing in his skin, there isn't a significant risk of it going out of his control. It may still conceal anything in his body, however, though I doubt even he would go so far as to conceal weapons actually within him that aren't natural. So it's really your call whether or not there's too much risk of the field still hiding something. Thank you kindly for your time in moderating this situation, regardless. See you around." Without a word to Ka'rinth, Than would turn and start making his way back to the food bar; the talking made him a little thirsty. In fact, he was a little too caught between his thirst and discontent with how long it'd taken to resolve the matter to notice that he was about to run into someone until the last minute. Turning his body and hopping on one foot twice, Than avoided colliding with Bell. "Pardon me, Miss; my mistake." Than nodded in her general direction, apologetically and not knowing who she was, before resuming his course to the drinks.
------
"No really, what the hell did you do to him?" Twilight watched the manner in which Than handled the feud, and found it to be much more frontal and aggressive than how he remembered Than. Twi would have expected the boy to resolve the case by pleading more than asserting.
"I have not really done a thing," Mastema responded, his back turned to Twi but knowing full well what Twi was referring to. "You might call this his own little social experiment. I'm sure he doesn't mean to make a scene, but a little stirring is probably the best way to get information in his view." Mastema took another sip of his drink. He was keeping his casual attention on Tegral, which was a way for him to half ignore Twilight. If Tegral got too lacking in tact, then Mastema would have to help Nana find someone else to talk to who had more of a way with words than Tegral. So far, everyone else in the party seemed to fit that bill except Tegral's own incompetent subordinates.

*For now it appeared as if Thanatos was alright, his confrontation with Ka'rinth seemed to be over, and he had moved away to get a bit of something at the tables; Nana sighed in relief. If the Admiral wished, Nana would finish answering his question "and your name is?". Cup still in hand, Nana had yet to take a sip of its contents, perhaps she really wasn't all that thirsty. Looking over towards Mastema for a moment, A brief smile would grace Nana's lips. At least he seemed to be having a better time of things, and Twilight was with him aswell and getting along*

*Bell makes a small yelp of protest, and her white gown swirls around her feet as she sighs putting a hand to her chest. She, very much unlike her mother, had never enjoyed being close with a man, even the slightest of bumps made her fearful of revealing her secret. Grumbling slightly she huffs in her usual haughty manor and trots after the man, keeping a comfortable distance.* Excuse me is right! If you had bumped me with these heels on I’d be more worried for your safety!

Than halted in front of the table, softly using his hand to find find either a plate of delicacies or whatever else was on the table. From the way Bell was speaking up, Than could tell she was actually some distance behind him. He found this odd, expecting that if someone had a tiff with him that person would chose to be more frontal about it instead of keeping a safe distance. Maybe not everyone was as frontal as he was about having a bone to pick with someone. As Bell finished demonstrating her concern - for lack of better words - Than turned his head and looked back in her general direction. She may not have noticed it when he was arguing with Ka'rinth, but Bell would now clearly be able to see the deep grey iris of Than's eye and the milky glaze over his pupil, a soft contrast. The man was clearly blind, which explained why his hand seemed to be moving oddly over the table while looking for food. "Oh? Thank you for your concern," Than chuckled lightly, enjoying the humor of the statement. "I'd have to agree. Given the nature of heels, I'd have to say they're as dangerous as any blade. Please forgive me for being so careless, my lady; I just might have to start wearing steel-toed boots if I'm really so clumsy." Than couldn't really tell how genuinely annoyed Bell was, so his best bet was to agree, apologize, and toss in a little humor at his expense. Nor was he sure if Bell was just trying to point out his mistake or start a conversation. If she planned to stay, of course Thanatos would actually introduce himself. His hand still moved along the table, trying to find the cups and punch bowl Nana had used.

"Ah... right then." Baptistain could only scratch at the back of his head as the 'ordeal' finished. Thanatos had gone elsewhere, Ka'rinth had changed and all was-- well again? With that done, Baptistain would begin to head back to Bertuicco at the front doors. No one new had entered yet in the time Baptistain had been summoned into the party scene. All in all it had been a rather active first twenty or thirty minutes, and now was about the time for the host to appear. From down the coridor at the top ballcony soft footsteps would pace the hall nearing the party goers, they of course belonged to The Count and his lovely doll Haydée. They would make their grand entrace shortly, and to announce their arrival the music began to change. Three large looking drummers would take front stage and began to herald The Count's nearing. Hopefully Griffin was nearly done with his phone call.

*As Bell begins to retaliate in the conversation she is roughly yanked away. Griffin is pocketing his phone with one hand and holding her arm in another and he looks positively furious. Bell narrows her own purple eyes and the two begin to squabble quietly in the background. Kaiori sighs as she strides over. Once in place she flicks her son in the forehead. Griffin looks positively dumb founded and blushes muttering some sort of apology making Kaiori laugh and Bell smile. The family turns to watch the drummers with their full attention.*

KB would drift from the door, nodding to the doorman as he made his way towards the grand revealing. He was curious, though he remained somewhat off to the side. It would be a treat to meet the person who had so lavishly offered such fun and entertainment, as well as a chance to see old faces. Surely things would go along smoothly now that some of the minor regulations had been settled.

"Hmm? Miss?" Thanatos heard Bell being dragged off, but wasn't quite sure what he was hearing. When he noticed that she was responding, she figured someone had come to get her and that was what he'd heard. "Maybe jealous boyfriend problem...." Than muttered to himself and continued searching for a drink. He found one a few moments later, and luckily it was only water. He turned toward the front of the room when the drums picked up; it didn't exactly sound like socializing music. Mastema and Twi would also hush up, since it was rather unpleasant to talk over such loud noises.

*Hearing the drums start up, Nana would turn her gaze towards the players, it was sudden and a nice break from the strange conversation she was in. It was far different from the music that had been playing so something must have been going on, or rather was about to happen. In this case, it was letting everyone know that the host was about to make his entrance. Nana's cup of punch remained clutched in hand untouched, she really must have been nervous*
