yojimbo thought he had seen something in the rafters but he assumed it was some bad sake he had drunk, so he was surprised when the thing attacked sensei. after realizing that the thing was a person, and that person was friendly with sensei he turned to find karite who was walking up to him. Yojimbo turns to karite and offers him his sake jug instead of his hand, "want some?" he asks.

Karite waved his hand in a no motion waving it side to side. "No thanks, I dont drink. Its not something I enjoy, besides it messes with my motor skill and causes me to loss my cool. If you want you can drink it but I would rather start this match off clean." Karite said cracking his neck. It was a bad habit but he felt it lossened him up before a event he would need all his strength and concentration for.

Rikou nodded soberly, "Thats me." He genually enjoyed being paired up with one of the more laid back people in the room. On top of that the man clearly had a good understanding of the world, if a bit loquacious but in a good and calming sort of way.

"I will agree with you on her youthfulness. Although I have always believed that i would become one of those stange old men who, while entertaining and wise, is typically prone to rambling on. But I digress." He replied as he looked down at his own bokken.

He eyed the man calmly and then smiled, "Trust me between your old age and my inexperience and sloth. It will be a most interesting match when we get to the actually sparing."

With a flick of his wrist Rikou flipped the weapon over into a proper position for practice. With the wooden blade upright rather than being used as something to lean on. "It will be a privilege to practice whenever you want to begin."

Takara stared at the clover in her hand. It mystified her why a perfectly sane man, as Megumi turned out to be, would carry around a clover, or why he gave it to her in the first place. Oh well, she thought, best not to dwell on unnecessary thoughts. She twirled the clover once before pocketing it. Returning her attention back to her partner, she shrugged.

"I don't care," she said, "you can decide, Megumi-san."

Megumi simply smiles. Indecisive, slightly uncaring..in a way she reminds him of himself, always like a butterfly, from flower to flower. He sighs, and shakes his head..that wouldn't do at all. Even if he was little more than a student himself in the grand scheme of things, after you've seen your first battle, a lot changes in your eyes. Especially if you survive such a lopsided encounter. He muses then, and shifts, with his feet only slightly apart, and raises his practice weapon to salute, before assuming an en garde position.

"Very well..I want to see what you have to offer offensively. I'll stand here and be your practice dummy first. Mind you, I'll actively defend against your attacks, and let you see where your offensive weaknesses are. Then, we should switch roles, and you can help me with my offense. How does that sound?"

Keiji listens attentively to the other fellow, and he actually seems to be paying real attention to what he says, rather than just idly listening. He pays attention, that much is obvious. He shifts the glasses on his face slightly, and puts one arm back, the left one..the one that holds the weapon, actually. Either he's left handed, or he prefers to fight with a weak hand. Who can say? Nobody's asked him. His right hand, he keeps slightly forward, with his fingers in a spread out position. It looks almost like he's trying to feel the air around him.

He then turns in four directions..murmering something. it sounds at first like a Kidou chant..then one would slowly realize that it wasn't a kidou at all; he was murmering what sounded like a prayer of some kind..

"Enlil; Wind and Sky, descend from thy heavens to bless this unworthy servant; make him swift as wind.

Ninhursag; Earth and Stone, rise up from thy ground to bless this unworthy servant; make him as stout as rock.

Enki; Lake and Sea, flow forth from thy ocean to bless this unworthy servant; make him as fluid and adapting as the primeval waters.

Gibil; Fire and Heat, explode up from thy conflagration to bless this unworthy servant; make him as unmerciful as the flames."

And finally, he kneels down, on one knee specifically, spreading his arms apart to place his hands upon the training mat, and lowering his head, so his braid moves to one side over his shoulder, also touching the ground..

"And to the three, Ereshkigal, Inanna, and Utu. In Life and Death, In War and Love, and in the Sun and Truth; I ask for thy blessings, O sacred ones! Give unto me thy power, bestow unto me thy grace; Let me know the chill of merciless underworld, O Ereshkigal, that thy wisdom to judge the souls of men is cold and exacting, yet also bestow upon me the mercy to know that life, in death's cycle, is sacred. Let me know the heat of desire and war, O Inanna, that I may cleave my enemies in a fury, yet also lend me thy wisdom in the arts of love, so that I may show gentleness and desire to those close to me, and cherish what I go to war to protect. Allow me to see the power of the sun, O Utu, that I may never be without the light that nurtures the world! Yet also show me the wisdom of thy divine justice, that I may unerstand why the sun gives and takes from us all. Show me the way, and I shall understand. I ask thee, my lords, to bless thy humble servant.

I ask also for the gentle caress of Lilitu, mother of deception and darkness. Let me understand that to love is to decieve; that to lust is to command, and to shadow is to achieve victory. For as long as man is a being of his passions, so shall his wickedness prevail even as his goodness does. Allow me to understand thy ways, and to never fall to thy wiles, O Lilitu, mother of the song of lies."

Then Keiji rises with a smile on that ever-gentle face..

"Sorry about that. I just had to give my thanks to the Old Gods. Shall we begin?"

And he raises his blade in a cross over his body, tilted to the side..what an odd stance..

"No need to apologize, i sometimes pray to my own god. He's pretty old but hes never let me down before."

Rikou straightened up and held his weapon onehanded pointed at the ground. Normaly his was almost a perfect fenser's stance, but holding a katana made it look a bit clumsy. But it would do for his style of fighting.

((I just looked over Haro's bio and I didn't even realize how wrong I was roleplaying this character as to how I described him))

Haro sighed as he stood there. This Mai girl was taking far too long to reply to his question or act upon the training area. "I am sorry Sensei, but my partner seems to have vacated her body for a while." He said with a chuckle. "I will just have to proceed in my own training." He said with a nod as he breathed in and he narrowed his eyes, walking over to center of the room and grippingthe wooden scythe. The only action the weapon had ever seen was a spar with the previous sensei's sister or something of the like.

He took a deep breath in and when he re-opened his eyes they were narowed and they had a hardened tone to them. The one thatwas pure white except for the pupil looked funny as he looked around with it, as if the pupil was just randomly wandering, looking for it's colour. He smirked then and he sighed, the red eye seemed to have a certain intencity as it wandered like the white one did. The anchient symbols written all across his body were easily visible on his arms and he crouched low, it was as if his entire personality had just shifted form a layed back easy-goer to a hardened man without a heart. He spun upon his back foot and he unleashed his weapon from his hand and it soared towards the other side of the room.

The double scythe hit the dummy with it's second blade and then it ricoched off and was sent back towards his hand. He grinned as he caught the weapon and he breathed in deeply. Holding the weapon in his hand and then running forwards with his inhuman speed, jumping he kicked out his foot and he kicked off of the dummy's head sending himself propelled upwards and then coming back down with a sharp blow to the dummies head. He landed on his feet, the scythe in his outstreatched left arm.

The woman raised a brow as Haro spoke, and watched him for a moment, before there was a brief signal of movement, and there she was, standing with an odachi length bokken in her hand, the end rapped against the scythe sharply.

"If your opponent has gone daydreaming.. then I will take her place."

The sensei had taken that serious approach again, and all signs of humor were gone from her face.

"A dummy will not teach you the lesson I want you to learn. Now.. attack me.."

Karite watched Sensei for a moment and had seen how fast she had moved. This time he had paied close attention to her foot. It was as if she just glided over the ground. Was this a techinque all Shinigmi knew or was she just that strong? It was a question Karite would have to answer later. Now he was in the middle of his own training to become a Shinigami.

Ignoring the others, Takara stared a Megumi for a moment. She could not help but wonder if he were mocking her, or if it was just a part of his personality. If she were any other person, she might have asked him; however, because Takara was, well, herself, she decided to keep silent about it. Even if she did pose the question, it would most likely come out rudely, resulting in who-knows-what. Takara mused over it a minute more.

"Are you sure?" she asked Megumi.

I've never fought real a person before...

((Wasn't sure if it was an actual spar, so I did roll the dice, incase it shall be like a real fight, if not then just disreguard the roll))

The sensei would, or at least should be a little surprised as he turned to her. Any sense of his old self was gone now, and he was an entire different person. The ancheint symbols that covered his body began to slowly shift about on every inch of him, even under his clothing where they were not visable. The lonely pupil within his blank white eye looked at her, studying her and the red one did as well. "That...was the answer I was looking for." He said with a smile. He stood up tall to his full height and he took in a deep breath as the symbols continued to shift upon his skin.

His boot contacted the ground with a powerful kick that sent him rocketing towards his opponent and he smiled breifly as his scythe was transferred to both hands and he kicked down again with the opposite foot, sending him into the air slightly, about her head height. He swung the scythe's first blade towards her face, thoguh it was nothing but an illusion as he pushed his weight downwards so the strike went down as low as her ankle, the attack went from one polar extreme of her body to the other quite quickly. Stupid opponents would try to block the head shot and be stricken in the foot, but she was no idiot. He already knew she would see through it.

Attack: roll + 4

(Trust me, you wouldn't want an 'actual spar'. She's level 50.)

Centuries of effort, ages of experience. No, not much surprised this woman after the life she has led. When he shot toward her, she did the most simplistic thing. She merely shifted to the side, and brought her hand to slam down across his upper back, a move that would send him to the floor, face first.

"Wrong. What did I say before? Slowly. You move slowly. You go through the motions one by one, you move slowly, you are criticized, you go through them again until your technique is perfect. You listen to the directions, but you don't follow them. Now get up, and do it again." She shifted the bokken in her grasp, until it lay across her body in a defensive position.

Through the movements, one by one, she would make them all go. And those who didn't follow, they would find themselves on the floor. She would teach these students a hard lesson. If they thought her teaching was hellish, wait until they get into Korin's class.

Megumi nods. He only asked her that way because he's used to more defensive fighting, not offensive, you see. The position he's in would remind one of a fencer's stance, though it was a little different than the standard. It's his family's style, and he remains, as he is..

"Yes. It's alright, just do it any way you want. Precise, wild, it doesn't matter. I like to adapt to my opponent's style, and I want to see what your style is. You can only learn about a person when you fight them. You see, every fighting style is like a fingerprint, or a lineage. Sure, we all use some basic ideas for the same thing..but..when we make something ours, we find out about one another by dancing the dance of battle. It's the oldest dance since time began. Even the gods fought each other."

He grins, and it's apparent he really enjoys his fighting..even if he does appear kind of girly..
