Actually, we use MY dice, lol, so i know that they aren't tampered. Unless they've betrayed me........ Et tu, Dice? I bet the Kroot would live a lot longer if they had an Armor save better than a 6+. What usually ends up happening is they get shot at, then assaulted, so by the time i get a chance to fight back, I only have 1 or 2 left.....

You do not use trees or forests do you? They get A better save if they are in that stuff, if I remember correctly.

You do not use trees or forests do you? They get A better save if they are in that stuff, if I remember correctly.


No, We usually end up using cityfight type of terrain.

No, We usually end up using cityfight type of terrain.

Can the Kroot use snipers? If so, use them for that. And use your Tau as bait.

Oh, well, that sucks.Can you take Kroot Mercs in a Tau army? I am too fething lazy to go and look in the codex. I just fixed 4 T-Bones, so that might give you an idea as to why.

I don't really have an option with the points we're using. I have to use every model I own, so the Kroot go, too.

No, Kroot Mercs are not allowed in a Tau army.

The Dark Eldar might do good here, they can Hyper Drive(they use to be the only ones sad ) a few raiders full of Wyches and Normal Warriors, get an invulnerable save from all the fire power, and move the last bit the next turn, deploy the troops, and assault(Raiders are open toped Skimmers smile , helpful yet very easy to destroy) while the hellions advance with Scourges and Talos(es) with the assulting normal troops getting 8 strength 4 AP5 shots in before assaulting(if they were given max # of Splinter Cannons, the stats for Splinter Cannons are[S4 AP5, Assault 4 36 inches]). Then the Mandrakes can infiltrate while the grosteque's move forward invulnerable to basic pulse rifle fire(only S6 or higher attacks harm them) and the Dark Eldar Lords Ride with a few squads that will need combat bonuses. That will slaughter the Tau biggrin


First, the forward Pathfinders that you didn't know were there would use their markerlights to Seeker Missile your vehicles to death. Not to mention that they could help the Broadsides with their Rail runs in that department.

Your infantry charge forward and are assaulted by the Kroot. You're suddenly up against a unit of 28 models, maybe two units like this. If you try to fall back, the 8 hounds in the unit inflict 8 automatic hits so you are forced to remain in assault for another turn so you can wipe them all out.

Whatever is left of your infantry continues the charge, only to be shot to pieces by the 30" range guns of the Fire Warriors who had formed into a defensive line, just out of your range.

So what do you do? You move in so you can shoot back. But, oh no, that didn't work, because the Fire Warriors fall back to for another line, while the Crisis suits that were hiding behind that hill over there decide to charge at you with their Fusion Blaster/Missile Pod/Burst Cannon combination. There is only three of them but they manage to take out nine of your guys in one hit.

Maybe you get through so you can get closer, but you're shot at by the Fire Warriors again and now the Broadsides are hitting you from behind cover with their Smart Missile systems because they don't need line-of-sight to use those. If you get to close, they Rail Run you to death.

Oh, and did I mention that the Pathfinders have probably used their Rail Rifles along with the Stealth suits you forgot about to form a pincer manouver behind you while you were trying to rush forward? Not to mention that there might be a Hammerhead gunship blowing holes in whatever vehicles they missed just to clean up. Or the Devilfish that sneaked another squadron of troops in behind you.

I used this tactic with a Tau army of 1850 points on a 2400 point Eldar Army and by the end of the battle I had lost only 13 models.

i once did some thing similar to an army of 'nids and only lost three models even though i was siverly out numbered 1500 to 2250. the 'nids never stood chance even though he got in to close combat with my fire wariors. even his carnifex coulden't deal with the lone broadside that i had.

In city fights i like to use my kroot as bait. Have my fire warriors sitting on a building shooting the enemy when they are heding towards my kroot. And if my kroot die and there are still a lot of enemies i use crisis suits.

for the kroots its better to keep the hidden draw the enemy toward u using the fire warriors pulse rifles then jump out into hand to hand combat becuase if u get kroots in hand to hand u have a beter chance of liveing than standing in the clear open and winning thats what the fire warriors are fo kroots are more of ambushers

I've never used Kroot, but looking at thier abilities, I'd want to infiltrate them ito woods, preferably more than 6" into them, and force opponents to waste two or more turns dislodging them, or spend turns moving around thier 24" range.

Hmm, recently I played in a Rogue Trader and had a bunch of people tell me that they were surprised at how agressively I used my Tau. Given how often my troops are assaulted, I was wondering if I should switch to playing Farsight. Does anyone here play Farsight, and can you tell me about it? From what I can see, Ork Fighter is really only worth it on the suits, more so on suits of Shas'vre rank and higher. And how do you deal with the lack of Heavy choices? A Farsight army can only have two choices, and I've been running three as much as I can.
