*Melliandra holds up a hand to cut her short* But you won't be his equal in his mind if you don't act his equal in his presence. And before this book will be of any help to you, you'll have to wipe the humble and obedient conventions from your mind.
*suddenly she frowns and barks* Stand up!.

*Maggie nods at first at what Mell is saying, but then starts slightly at the command and instinctively jumps to her feet*

*Maggie briefly looks at her in confusion, but then reddens as it dawns on her.* Oh, dear . . . *she sighs at herself and sits back down*

*Melliandra smirks at her* I suppose that was a bit unfair of me, but life isn't fair. Bard won't remind you to think for yourself, you know.

Aye, I know .. *Maggie nods her understanding, then lets out a sound that's half sigh and half laugh* And I suppose 'twould rather defeat the point if I could only remember te think for myself when someone else told me to.

Now, you're thinking. *Melliandra's smirk becomes a genuine smile* Now how can you use this to improve things with Bard?

*Maggie ponders that for a moment before answer. She's never been much of an analyst, but if there's anything her time in the Brink had taught her it's to be willing to look at things in new ways* I suppose . .. perhaps . . . by not always waiting for him te take the lead with things . . .

I think that would help. *Melliandra says encouragingly* But there's something more you need to consider.

Well, simply put, my dear. It's your body, and you need to have control over it. Part of the fun is building anticipation, and in order to build anticipation, you have to learn how to control your body and his.

There are some things it's very difficult to learn from a book. *she places her hand on the book* No matter how well-written the book might be. You're asking me to explain something that can't really be effectively put into words. I can try, but I can't promise that it will be all that helpful.
*she pauses letting Maggie absorb this before she continues* but, I think there is a way I can help you, if you're willing.
