Themba fixed up Ilandere’s shoulder pretty quickly but not without complaints from her.
“I can do this myself.” She said as he put a salve over her wound and began to stitch it up.
“I know,” Themba chuckled, “I just figured it would be easier for me to do it. And if you would stay still,” he continued, pushing her back down to the blankets she lying on after she attempted to sit up, “Then I would be done already… there.”
He wrapped her shoulder and she walked into another room to change into the clean tunic she had gotten for herself, Themba doing the same after her. It was when he left that Izzy received the peculiar message from Trent’s acolyte. She wished for some way to ask him for help but the rules of the travelers rings would only allow her to send word to Trent’s acolyte. This was unfortunate because they could use all the help they could get at the moment.
When Themba returned he lay down in the place he had made for himself and took Ilandere’s left hand affectionately, twisting the ring on her ring finger.
“Funny how we thought this thing could bring us no good, eh?” he smiled, meaning the betrothal.
“Yes,” Ilandere said, “I only hope that we survive to see the day that we are forever bonded. I never want to be separated from you, Themba . . . never.”
He kissed her lightly on the cheek and closed his eyes for sleep. “Our day will come,” he said, “Sooner than you may think. You won’t have to be separated from me Ilandere. You will always be with me as I will be with you.”
They both soon nodded off, giving in to the much needed sleep.

((Lol, nice)) Lily took the clothes and went into another room to change. The shirt had only short sleeves, so she for the first time fully understood the extent of her injuries. Half of her arm was purple with bruises, and she could clearly see a bruise the shape of Saint Dane's hand on the other. She touched one gently and flinched. "Ouch," she muttered. "But it can't have been as bad as Ilandere's or Themba's." She went back into the other room, quickly averting her gaze when she spotted Themba and Ilandere's kiss. She spotted a pile of blankets on the floor and grabbed one, wrapping it around herself. She laid in a corner near Izzy, who was holding a strange metalic device. "What's that? It isn't from Cloral, is it?" She was going to remind her friend that they weren't supposed to mix territories, then remembered her Cloral jumpsuit.

((Oooooo! Ilandere and Themba sitting in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!! Lol! whee ))
"Nah." Izzy said lightly, answering Lily's question. "Do they have anything like this on your home territory?" She said, her eyes curious. "You missed the whole lights show. Seems like...it...projects..." Choosing her words carefully trying to describe something otherworlyd to her, "the image of Trent, whoever he is, acolyte. From Veelox" Spinning the object in her hands, she handed it off to Lily.
Only then did she notice the injuries on the other Traveler's arms. She held in a gasp. Imediantely, she blamed herself. Then Saint Dane. Then herself again. They had wasted too much time in the flume. And on Cloral. It felt awkward being the only healthy one among them. A little tired, but physically fit. She shifted nervously.
In her head, Izzy vowed that she would do whatever it took to keep the three of them before her safe. They were in their time of need, and they needed her help. As much as she could give.
"So what do you think?"

"So what do you think?" "It projects a hologram? WE have things like that on Third Earth too, but... nothing so compact. IF you want to, I could look at it in the morning. I'm not a tech whiz, but I worked with holograms everyday in the library." She yawned, and brought the blanket around her. "Ready for lights out?"

"You can have it." Izzy said grinning. "As for lights out...that sounds good." Pulling the blankets around her frame, Izzy settled it for a long night. Although she might have been exhausted, she knew there would be no sleeping for her. Aside from the fact that she was in a new territory, Saint Dane's words filled her ears.
Rolling over, to hide the fact that she was indeed awake, Izzy stared blankly at the wall. Not really seeing it. The expression on her face was worried. She should have stopped Saint Dane. Taken the life that had ruined so many others...but she knew. Deep down. That Saint Dane was right. And she hated him for it. She could never take a life.

Lily rolled over, her back to Izzy. She lay awake, staring at the wall, waiting for the sound of Izzy's breathing to slow. Her arm kept shooting pain into her arm, and doubts and guilt rolled around her head. She could hardly keep her eyes open for exaustion, but her mind wouldn't turn off. "Iz?" she finally asked in a whisper. "You still awake?"

At the sound of Lily's voice, Izzy rolled over. "Yeah?" She whispered. "What's up? Is your arm okay?" Pulling herself up onto one elbow she looked at the dark outline of Lily next to her.

"Yeah, my arm's fine. I just couldn't sleep, is all." But even she could hear the 'I'm lying' note that crept into her voice. An akward silence filled the room, broken only by the steadybreathing of their friends.
"It's all my fault, isn't it?" Lily cried out in a whisper, tears starting again to roll down her cheeks.

"Oh Lily!" Izzy whispered. "It's not your fault. As much as I hate to say this...it is the way it was ment to be. Why do you keep thinking it's your fault anyways? It was an honest mistake." She said softly. "The blame is not yours."

"Thanks," she said, wiping her eyes on a corner of the blanket. "Thanks Izzy." Lily didn't know why, but knowing that Izzy didn't blame her for the events calmed her alot. A tiny corner of the guilt was still there, but it would always be there, she knew, and it was small enough to squash and supress.
"Why are you still awake?" she asked. Izzy must be drained.

Ilandere was walking barefooted on the soft grass. She gazed around and brought her hands down to her sides. The fact that she was missing her crossbow didn’t seem to faze her as it normally would. She didn’t know where she was, but it seemed to have a calming effect on her.
There were tables everywhere with white cloths on each one. The cloth was big enough to cover the tables but not big enough to fall over the sides allowing Ilandere to see beneath them. She walked over to one curiously touching the white cloth. It was soft and cool with a texture of which she had never felt before.
Her surroundings began to come clearer and she saw she was in a grassy clearing with trees surrounding it. The sky was dark with storm clouds and the thunder rolled loudly. She stood in the center of the circle of tables, counting ten of them. Rain began to fall wetting the white cloths on each table.
Ilandere frowned. The rain was cold and seemed like piercing needles to her tender skin. She walked to one of the tables again and touched the cloth. It left a black handprint. She lifted her hand to find what looked like black paint all over it. Ilandere looked to her other hand to find it the same way. She tried to wipe the black off her hands by using the white cloth but it only left more black smudges and the paint seemed to replace itself.
She had soon sullied the first cloth and moved to the next. She realized that this cloth was dry despite the rain but soon forgot about it while trying to wipe the black from her palms. The black goop began to sting but would not come off. She dirtied cloth after cloth, trying to get it off. Leaving handprints and smudges on her own clothing she tried to wet her palms with the rain.
Not a single drop landed on her hands and she felt as if the black paint were eating her skin away. Ilandere looked around, terror in her eyes. She tried screaming but words would not come. Her mouth was moving but sound was not coming out. The black began to drip from her wet clothes landing on her feet. She could feel the skin on her feet stinging as she turned in circles, looking for someone. She turned around one more time and suddenly there was a whole group of people in front of her, looking at the blackened table cloths and her wet clothes.
Ilandere saw everyone; Lily, Izzy, Themba, Alan, Trent and Rugen. She tried to say something but not a sound came from her moving lips. She looked to Themba with a tear streaming down her face. He shook his head and turned away, disappearing through the trees. She watched as one by one Alan, Trent, Rugen, and even Izzy, did the same and disappeared into the trees. Only Lily remained, staring at her blankly.
Lightning lit up the sky and Lily seemed to flinch a little, a look of terror coming to her face. Lily collapsed to the ground with a red stain rolling down her back. Saint Dane was standing in her place with a bloodied knife in his hand. He gave Ilandere a twisted smile and a salute, curving two of his fingers and bringing them to his forehead.
“How could you have killed her, Ilandere? How could you have killed her? You have no one to blame but yourself. You even let your own father die. You’re killing everyone Ilandere. Now Halla will be mine.” He cackled maliciously. Ilandere screamed to Lily, but it was no use for no one could hear her. She collapsed to her knees and her vision soon gave way to darkness.
~*~*~*~*~
Ilandere was being shaken awake by Themba. She bolted straight up breathing heavily. Pains went shooting through her shoulder and she bent over her knees. Her vision swirled a bit before steadying itself and she got to her feet defensively. Themba followed to keep her from swaying and falling over. He took her shoulders and held them tightly.
“Where’s Lily?!” Ilandere shouted dizzily, her sights unfocused, “Is she alright? Where is she?”
“Ilandere calm down!” Themba ordered, holding her still, “She’s right here. She’s with us. We’re at Loor’s, Lily is fine, we’re safe, just calm down.”
Ilandere swayed a bit more and fell forward onto Themba breathing heavily. Themba eased her to the ground and laid her down. He put a hand to her forehead and touched her cheek.
“This isn’t good.” He said, “She’s got a fever. I think her shoulder might be infected. Izzy, could you get me some water for Ilandere?”
Ilandere looked around dazedly. “What happened?”
“You were screaming in your sleep. I thought something was wrong, but you’re alright now. Your shoulder is infected and it’s made you sick, just lie back and you’ll be fine.” Themba said soothingly.
“Lily, where’s Lily?” Ilandere said, trying to sit up.

"I'm right here, Ilandere," Lily said, coming up next to her. Ilandere had began screaming and Themba had bolted awake and woken Ilandere too. "I'm fine. Why? What's wrong?" She heard Themba say something about her shoulder being infected.

Ilandere heard Lily speaking to her and she let out a long sigh of relief, shaking uncontrollably.
“A dream,” she said, “A terrible dream. Saint Dane he . . . you were . . .” Ilandere couldn’t finish her sentences and had tears streaming down her face. Themba took Ilandere’s hand and held it tightly then looked to Lily.
“Her shoulder’s infected,” he said to her, “It’s made her ill and she has a fever. It probably gave her a nightmare.”
Ilandere continued to shiver. She felt so cold for some reason and her dream wasn’t helping.
“Izzy, you know first-aid right?” Themba said to Izzy, “I need you to help me treat her shoulder. She has some disinfectant in her first-aid kit but it’s going to hurt. We can’t have her moving while we’re trying to treat her.”
