Miangel We have four tenors (or two/three, depending on the season). Two of us play sax as their main instrument - the two guy tenors. The two girl tenors (myself included) play flute as well. Though I haven't played flute for band in a long time 'cause sax players are cooler, so I switched to tenor full-time (I was originally just playing for pep and jazz). You know what's weird? I'm on staff at Summer Music School, and I took charge of the tenor section since there were a couple staff on flute and none on tenor. There's four of us total - two eighth grade girls, a freshman boy, and me - and ALL of us switched to tenor from flute. It's crazy. XD I love my little tenor section. We're the smallest besides oboe (well, we're tied with the baris), and we kick serious a**, because the three students are really quiet and all of them LISTEN when I lead sectionals. It's so cool. My friend is in charge of the altos... I feel so bad for her. She's come from sectionals wanting to rip out her hair. XD our alto section always had the best sectionals. we were the best and could learn/memorize everything in a day, so we'd just sit around and chat. and rip on this one kid that we all hate. XD
for concert band we only had two altos in the top band, so it was an awesome sectional. we wouldn't do anything except talk, though on occasion we'd actually feel like playing so we'd steal our teacher's jazz duet book. smile
ugh...i want those sectionals back. he graduated, and i'm going to miss being able to spend entire class periods talking to him. cry

Very cool indeed. I wish my BD would let me play my soprano in Jazz Band. He let some guy last year play French horn because he couldn't learn trombone in time. No fair. *pouts* ...(/fiveyearsold) ^^;

Ash Rail yeah : / sops are quite expensive. That they are... You could get them from a dealer online... just make sure it's an official place with new, not used ones... They tend to be cheaper... kinda.

our school doesn't even have a soprano...the only one we have is my private teacher's. he let me play it a few times. whee that's close to the top of my list of things to buy, my own soprano. i saw one for $400 at a store around here, that wouldn't be too bad even if it wasn't the highest quality.
then i would beg with my life for the honor of playing in jazz band...aww that would be amazing. <3
