She nodded at his mention of her duplex number. "Are you headed somewhere now? I could come pick them up. ...I'm sorry to leave everything with you. I don't remember a lot about it, but if anything I did in my dreams really happened- I certainly owe you an apology." Emelyn thought about the torn up mattress, the blood on the walls, the torn nest of bedclothes and blankets in the closet, and the utterly destroyed mirror. She didn't recall that only the last of the destructive crimes was committed in Lucas' duplex.

"Not really. I was just walking Reuben so he could...mark his territory. If you want to pick them up that's fine, but bringing them by is no trouble." He himself had assumed that Emelyn was on her way somewhere since she was out so early.
"And don't worry about it." He waved away the apology.
He wondered what exactly she did recall. "Dreams?"

She looked down at Reuben, who had since run around her legs and nearer to Lucas. The dog seemed to flit between them- torn with the need for both of their affection in the most angst-free way possible. Emelyn didn't know whether to call the spaniel-mix closer to her, or to let him continue to pester Lucas- but in the end, the red, canine-like man's words drew her attention away from the dog.
"Mm," she said, finally, leaving Reuben to his own devices, "The delusional part... what the labs said," she said, making light note of her earlier, brief foray into what had happened in her life the past few weeks. "And no, it would be trouble- you've done enough, really." She laughed. "Above and beyond the call of duty. ...I can pick them up whenever."

Noting Reuben near his leg, Lucas reached down and scratched the dog on the top of his head. He had hoped that his question about her dreams might lead into what they had been, but he took her brief reply as a hint that she did not want to talk about it.
"We can go and collect them now, if you aren't on your way somewhere."

She smiled- a gesture that her muzzle was only yet getting the hang of. "Great. That'd be great. I was just out to try and find something to do."

"Okay, it's this way," he pointed in the direction of his duplex.

Emelyn was unaccustomed to walking in silence- however, Reuben's antics almost demanded a lack of conversation as the dog dipped and ran in between them, then ran ahead at several paces at a time, chasing imaginary dust motes about the village proper. All Emelyn could muster was an intent watch of the dog, and short, almost huffing laughs that punctuated his canine insanity. As they walked towards his duplex, Em managed only a few smiles at her walking companion, a silent thank you again for taking care of Reu. She hadn't realized how much she'd missed the mutt.

[NEW RP]
The sun was warm and the weather nice, cleared of the normal haze and bugs by the recent winter rain coming through. And thankfully, the ground was dry enough that it didn't dampen Gaius' pants as he lay back on the grass beneath one of the trees planted amongst the duplexes. He wasn't brave enough, or crazy enough, to try sleeping out near the edge of the jungle. Not after the Annie incident. He was perfectly content to stay within the 'safe' range of the village, assuming no one happened to trip over him.
Situating himself on his side so that his extra limbs, tail and wings alike, wouldn't get cramped or squished, Gaius rested his head on its side in the cool grass. He would have rested it on his elbow, but the long neck made that impossible. Good thing the grass was nice and soft... Before long, the odd horse-man was sound asleep, lying in the dapled shade as a light breeze ruffled his mane, only his ears twitching occassionally in his unconsciousness.

Richard had been meaning to talk with Gaius for awhile now and had been putting it off, busy with his own troubles. When he had seen that the young man had moved on to a new project he couldn't really blame the man. Fiona had her memorial. Not as heart felt as one erected by the islanders but it would serve the purpose and he had seen that. Since he hadn't known her personal, he no longer had a leg to stand on in the matter.
Still there had been a second purpose to that memorial. One he would like to communicate to Gaius. So when Richard saw Gaius napping under a tree on his way back from the cafe, he hurried back to his Duplex. He grabbed a notebook from deep within his desk and plodded back to where Gaius lay. He stood over Gaius hoping he'd wake up on his own.

One thing poor Richard failed to realize was that Gaius was a very... very... deep sleeper. He put the dead to shame.
The mere presence of the man wouldn't be enough to wake him from his slumber, even if Richard did stand in his sunlight. He just breathed deeply and curled up a bit tighter, pulling his legs closer to himself, and continued sawing logs.

Richard waited for a moment... Then two. He tapped his foot. Nothing. It did not appear the young man was going to wake up of on his own. Richard might have poked him with his cane, if he had it. Lacking that and he whispered Gaius's name. "Gaius." No movement. "Gaius." Nada. "EARTH TO GAIUS!"

Gaius snorted, turning his head up to crack an eye at whoever was disturbing his nap. "Hnnn?" Though, as Richard was standing with the sun behind him, Gaius could only make out the silhouette, and sat up to see who it was. He blinked a couple times before the sleep haze cleared and he recognized the old man looming over him, his face breaking into a smile. “Oh hey! Haven’t seen you around in a while… how’re you doing? Health holding up?”

And Richard had been worried that Gaius would wake up grumpy. Richard rolled his eyes with a snorting chuckle, then grinned down at the man. "I'm fine. I've lost a bit of weight you know." Richard lowered himself down againist the tree. "How you been doing. I see you have yet another project for yourself."

Gaius blinked, his mind jumping to make the connection. Ah! The theater! He lowered his guiltily and chuckled, rubbing at the side of his long neck. "Er, ah, yeah... After the graves and all... well... yeah. That, and I owe the guy I'm building it for... well, I think I do anyways... I got him into trouble a while back... But yeah, I'm figuring a theater would be good for the community, you know?"
Sitting himself more upright, he rested his arms on his knees and looked up at the guy, not a very far distance with Gaius' state. "Hey, congrats on the weight loss! Been dieting or something?"

Well while Richard had been far more active on the island than he had been while he had been in several years and there was no doubt that he had lost maybe a pound or two from that. However the majority of his slimmer waist had to do with something entirely different. He grinned and grimaced at the same time. "Well most of it just moved." He pointed first at his belly and then at the tentacles behind him."
Then he grinned back. "Well don't worry, those... markers serve the purpose, pity the labs did it instead of her friends but take what you can get. I'm sure a theater would be much more fun. I actually wanted to talk with you about that theater. I had a couple ideas I thought you might want to hear. Use all that lumber I ordered and all."
