"Ok!" He took a few steps back, then extended his arms, palms open. Closing his eyes, he began to focus on the spell; the slowing of the molecules in the air, the gaining of pure energy in his body. As he did this, the temperature in the mansion cooled, and dropped farther as Quint put more into his spell.

Over a short period of time, about a minute, the room was cold enough for breaths to show, and the eerie silence of winter pervaded the room they were in.

He slowly opened his eyes, parts of his head feeling frozen, and said, "That really isn't the attack...it's more of a set up....I can make it as cold as I want, if I'm fighting something that doesn't like the chill. But, I can do other things, if whatever I'm fighting doesn't mind."

"For example..." He said, clenching his left hand, making a flame cover his arm, "I can enhance my spells, making them easier to cast, and stronger.

"Or.." He did a quick uppercut with his right, which made a upward flash of fire come from his knuckles, returning the room to almost its former temperature. "I can add a little extra 'oomph' to my blows."

"And finally.." Quint raised his left hand, opening it. He then set off little pockets of flame in the air, which brought the room back to its normal warmth. "I call it 'Flash Fire'. It's quick, costs me no concentration, and best of all, I can have the fire form wherever I need it. No waiting.

"So there." Quint said, ignoring the small stinging behind his eyes, "My newest technique. I can do a lot more with the spell, but it involves destruction, and lots of it." He chuckled a little.

"I don't think you'd like that too much, seeing how we're inside your place and all." Winking, he added, "Maybe I'll show you the next time we spar."

"You know that sounded lame, right?"
""Add a little extra...'oomph'? Who says that anymore?"
"....Shut up. I'll say what I want, when I want, and how I want."
"Then tell her you like her."
"No....besides, I don't think it'd work out..."
"You never know unless you try."
"Sure...maybe when we're alone. Right now, happyness in learning."

Once again...a long post. It started off short in my head, but it felt too....kiddy, so I put more detail into it, and came out with this. Which puts me into a dilemma. I don't want extremely long posts, but I do want to have description so everyone knows what I'm talking about..../sigh.

"The rivalry between us can relate to anything that you wish, Morrigan, because I actually enjoy it. It keeps things fresh." Soul replied, her soft voice conveying the sincere respect she had for the demoness.



((That does sound fun! We need that sort of drama here!))

After witnessing the technique, Morrigan looked a little disappointed.

"It's a useful power darling, no doubt," Morrigan started," but I've seen and fought against all of those before in some form or another. They're all nice techniques ... it's just that they're boring."

Morrigan's expression now turned into one of concern. "I don't want you to feel badly about anything; you just have to consider how long I've been around. I live for exploration and novelty, especially in combat. When I hear about something new, it really grabs my attention. For humans though, that usually means something newly rediscovered. So should you care to know, I value creativity in combat nearly as much as I do power."

Morrigan then walked up to Quint and kissed him on the cheek.

"That was for the effort, darling."

"Well said, dear. What's the point of living forever if you can't have a little fun?"

And my idea of fun is leaving my rivals with nothing, save for feelings of embarrassment and loss.

Morrigan smiled at the idea. She had respect for Soul as well, and that was exactly why she had accepted her as a rival.

Aonice noticed the tension between Soul and Morrigan. She giggled, enjoying the moment. Pulling her hair behind her head once more, she then looked over at the men in the room with a curious thought.
