"Well, they can't see Mari yet anyways," Andarien murmured, watching to see what would happen.
The footsoldiers were marching, but they were keeping a good pace, and the parade was moving more quickly than the parade in Amon Darthir had gone. As such it did not take very long for them to reach where the people were.
When the front of the parade reached the citizens, the fanfare blew again and there was a shout - difficult to make out from Miyuki and Andarien's position on the balcony - and then another fanfare. The parade kept going, but now the crowd was starting to press as people tried to get a look at the end of it.
Then the back of the parade came into the peoples' view, and a massive cheer broke out the moment they saw Mari.

Miyuki smiled upon hearing the cheering from the crowd.
"There we go, that's a good sign."
That was a very good sign, since it meant things would be easier on Mari.

Andarien grinned. "Yeah. I guess they needed to see her first."
The parade continued, and every few minutes there was another fanfare and another shout, and every time the people cheered in response.
"Looks like it's just going to be the same thing," Andarien murmured, a bit bored when nothing new happened. "Unless maybe there's something at the end or something."

"I don't know, I've never seen a military parade before, but from the way Kyrie made it sound, it wouldn't be anything overly interesting," Miyuki admitted.
The word military didn't mean much to her, except it involved soldiers, but she didn't know how that differed from a normal parade.

"Should we go back in, then?" Andarien asked, looking at his sister. "Maybe we could explore some more."
Though truth be told, the conservatory made him sad. It seemed so dead.

"Let's," Miyuki nodded, "This place is actually kind of creepy, even with sunlight. Since we're going to be here a while, maybe we can ask if we can clean out and plant new plants here. It's clearly what it was once used for, though I'm not sure what sort of plants...."
All the dead plants probably made this room the most depressing room in the castle.

Andarien smiled and nodded. "I like that idea. Maybe we can ask Mari later what kind of plants they were and if we can plant more, or maybe if it's okay we can plant just whatever!"
Suddenly he grew excited. "Wait, maybe she'll let us plant berries in them!" he exclaimed.

"That's not a bad idea, they grow really fast and we have lots from our own berry growing," Miyuki murmured.
Anything to brighten up this place would be better than plants that might take a long while to sprout and grow.

Andarien looked over his shoulder at the pots as he opened the door for Miyuki so that they could leave the room again. "Do you think she'd mind if we just went ahead and did it?" he asked doubtfully. "Or do you think it would be better to ask first?"
It really bothered him, seeing the room so dusty and dank and dead. He had never seen anything like it before, and it reminded him again of his father's near fate.

Miyuki thought about it, normally she would ask, but this place was obviously meant to hold plants so...
"I don't see why not, this place was a place for plants and I think with all the work re-taking the country..."
Whatever that would entail.
"People are going to be too busy dealing with this place, it might even be the last places that gets dealt with."
She wasn't sure how important a place full of plants was at all. This was her first time in a room like this.

"Who do you think would know about growing plants?" Andarien asked curiously. "I mean, we grow berries, sure, but ... this soil is two centuries old, and most of it's rotted away. We might have to do something to make it good or something."
He had no idea. He was into mechanics, not husbandry.

"There must be a gardener for this castle," Miyuki replied thoughtfully, "Even though the General probably wasn't interested in beauty..."
At least, not in the way that wouldn't give Miyuki the creeps.
"He had to have kept a practical garden for things like herbs for both cooking and for medicine, especially medicine... well... considering how he probably treated his soldiers, maybe not, but... I'm sure the castle's practical garden must still be around and that needs a gardener."

"Well, I would say ask Maravel or Cael, but they're both at the parade," Andarien shrugged. "Maybe a guard would know."
Or one of the servants in the kitchens, or one of the tailors who was making Miyuki's clothes ...
"Wonder if Nana and Ada could see the parade from the window," he mused.

"That's a good question," Miyuki murmured, "Do you remember the way to the kitchen? Best to ask there, they're the most likely to use herbs."
She didn't know what the healer was like here, and because the General was so insane, it was hard to tell what he would have kept and what he wouldn't have.

"Sure, it's easy enough," Andarien grinned. "All the way down to the lower level."
They had reached the second floor by that time, and from there it was only another forty steps or so down to the main floor.
"The ... far wing, I think," he mused when they reached the main floor.
