kawaiihogoshatenshi Im sorry. I'm going through a really rough time right now... thanks for being patient. This story makes me happy... (sometimes lol)
"N-!..."
The fury seethed through Pan's blood as Ymir grabbed Carpo. Pan wanted nothing more than to grab hold of Carpo and run for the hills. But needles of sharp gazes stabbed all along his back and face as the others stared at him, their one chance of freedom.
He wished Kravos knew how to get to the base on his own but in this snow and in his condition, that would be asking too much of him. With fists clenched tight, his knuckles turning white and shaking, the albino regrettably turned to the lot and nodded to Kravos to move forward. His chest felt stabbed with hooks that pulled and shredded at his heart with each step he moved away from Carpo. He couldn't look the red head in the eye at first for he feared the tears would fall.
"Get to a truck..." with hidden eyes, he commanded Kravos and the others. Cedar was still trying to control her sorrow as she murmured something about how similar Ymir and Pan looked.
But before they left, Pan finally looked Carpo in his eyes. Those eyes had never seemed so vibrantly emerald before. He was memorizing everything on Carpo's face, because if anything was different or harmed on his lover's face when he returned, he'd give Ymir the same treatment.
"I'm so sorry.... " he mouthed to Carpo breathlessly as the others walked passed him.
Carpo was the brains in these situations and Pan didn't know what to do. His magenta eyes glowed brighter now, and they stayed on Carpo. And then flashed to his lover's captor. Pan wasn't stupid, he feared the worst for Carpo, and if he acted against the deal they had, the group of convicts would surely die. Pan didn't want anyone to get hurt because of him, and now it seems he'd lose the only person he has left to love.
--- Everything Alpha feared was on that screen. At first he couldn't find words as he resisted slamming his fist into the wall. Minutes passed. "H....How ... did... someone drive them there?... They..-" Alpha looked to Rene and remembered the incident they had from this morning. The doctor's eyes were not the same as they had been before. Rage aside, Alpha kicked into gear and marched forward to the screen. "Can... can we communicate with them? Hear Anything?... " He asked, trying to stay calm, unsure if they should relay this news to other two officers in the building. "********!.... We have to get to them somehow..." he rubbed his face and clenched his other hand. "I swear.... heh" a distraught chuckle escaped him lips, "... If Carpo and Pan live through this, I'm killing the both of them... " unaware of the situation the two were really in.

TenTenPrincess23 aw its okay. I hope things get better sad Kravos nodded and started to lead the others along, only pausing once to glance back at Carpo. It didn't feel right leaving him behind like this, not after all they'd been through together. Carpo wore a brave face though and nodded to Kravos, who decided to take that as a "I'll see you again." Carpo watched them go before locking eyes with Pan, who apologized to him. He smiled some at this and shook his head. "No need.. I'll be fine.. I love you," he said in return, standing and watching them go before finally feeling Ymir pull him off and back towards the room with the doctors... He wasn't looking forward to this, in fact he was rather scared. There wasn't much he could do about it though... He was ensnared back in the government's hands.. and it would be hard to get away again... ---- Once out to the car, Kravos put a hand up signaling the others to wait. He then proceeded to scan the car over, checking for bombs or tracking devices. After seeing that the coast was clear, he began helping the others into the truck, keeping an eye out for any suspicious behavior from nearby guards. He felt like they would be attacked at any moment and was surprised when the guards showed incredible restraint. Soon they were all ready.. "Thank you Pan... for coming back for us.." --- Zed shook his head. "Not right now.. They took the helmet off. The comm system is in there. I did manage to re-rig up a headset though, so we can communicate with them if Pan puts it back on...," he said, looking nervous and worried all at once. "For now we can just hear them.. and see the video feed, though its not a great feed right now due to the fact that Pan is carrying it at his side.."

Pan only glanced back to Kravos. His thanks was accepted, but heavy to bare on his shoulders. He nodded and marched with the rest of refugees until he stopped in front of the truck to hear something. It sounded distant, but he could swear someone was talking. Some of the other prisoners took notice of Pan's movements and grew nervous.
Pan eventually figured out though, that it was indeed coming from his helmet. Eyes widened, he was floored at the thought that someone had caught them back at the base, but the feeling quickly faded when he put the helmet on. Now he can communicate back at base and figure out what to do... that is...
"PAN!" the helmet screeched in his ear. The pitch was high and loud and cause Pan's legs to give out from under him. The rage was expected though...
"Alpha...." he muttered. The ringing in his ears began to set in. " I-I... "
--- Alpha saw Pan put the helmet on and shouted, he really just couldn't control his temper, but stopped at Pan's sputtering. "It's all my fault.. I-I got too ahead of myself with these new powers... I-I wanted to help... b-but then..." Pan continued, only to hear Alpha sigh. "Stop... just... ugh... " Alpha looked at Zed. "If they're going to drive in that storm, we should meet them halfway and then you can get what citizens are there... " he asked. Alpha glanced to Rene and sighed once again. "Pan... Look just... Just get them out of there-... wait what...?" Alpha replaying Pan's words in his head... "S-So... powers? You have them?" the man seemingly forgetting Zed was standing right next to him. "What are you doing? You could kill your way out of there! Go back there and get Carpo..." Pan was getting nervous and confused now. He really didn't want to kill any more people. "Alpha, if they see me turning against this deal, they'll kill Carpo... I-" Alpha shook and slammed his fist against the wall. "But you c-... " he remembered Zed and piped up once again. Pan and Carpo. Sometimes they seemed like such a perfect pair of misfits, tying his hands together in order to prevent him from completing the important tasks. "... Fine... just.. get the other back... " he groaned. Pan sounded like he was trying hard not to cry again... "uhm... Alpha, Rene... I-I... I don't know how to drive... " he confessed when he looked at the vehicle. The image moved from the truck's driver side door, and then to Kravos. Alpha rolled his eyes... "right.... Pan can you give the helmet to Kavos...?" he asked, and Pan, feeling little and helpless still, complied and passed the helmet to his colleague. "It's Alpha.." he muttered, handing the device over.

Kravos jumped for a moment at Pan's sudden collapse and moved to help him up. It was then that Pan spoke, saying Alpha's name. Wait... but they didn't have that kind of tech. It was something that they hadn't been able to make no matter how hard they tried. They just didn't have the satellite power necessary. Looking it over, he processed it all before it finally clicked. That was similar to the suit he had put in the underground tunnel, which could only mean one thing. Taking the helmet almost excitedly, he secured it on his head and spoke into the mic. "You're with Leona, right," he asked, lightly pressing few buttons on the side of the helmet to toddle some stuff with in. After a bit of clicking the user id popped up, along with a picture of said user. Shen looked so happy in that picture, real carefree and smiley. Leona told him it had taken them three takes to get that picture.... "I know how to get there. How are you and how is Rene? You guys are safe right," he said as he climbed into the driver's side," also how are we getting Carpo out? Because I assume we are doing that, right? After everyone is safe that is..." As he spoke, everyone filed into the truck, albeit hesitantly and nervously. Soon they were on the road.. or well way to Leona's base. —- Ymir waited until Pan was completely out of sight before leading Carpo back down the hall to the operating room. There the doctors still waited, having gotten the message that the operation was still a go. As they walked in, he heard Carpos heart beat frantically in his chest. He wished he knew some way to calm it... It was stressful hearing it beat like this. After all, so much depended on Pans cooperation and, thus, Carpos survival. Carpo cooperated, scared what might happen if he didn’t and listened as the doctors spoke to him. They explained the procedure calmly as they put a mask over his face and slowly his vision faded away until consciousness was gone.

Pan felt.. somewhat relieved to hear that Kravos was in good spirits to hear from the others, even more so when Kravos came to the rescue to drive his colleagues Leona's headquarters. Pan sprung to his feet as Kravos moved into the truck.
"Alpha! If Kravos knows how to get there, I can stay here and help Carpo! I can get him out of there- " he was saying to Kravos and Alpha, but could easily hear the response.
"Tell him. No."
".. why?" Pan cried.
"ck-... Because it's snowing and you have to get back here! Kravos may know where to go, but you need to watch out for them in case the car is a trap or they struggle in that awful weather... you never should've gone out there..." Alpha cursed, saying all this even though the helmet was still with Kravos...
Pan's fists were clenched tight...

Kravos went to relate the message back to Pan, but he seemed to have gotten it. He looked so distraught there was no doubt he had. Weird.. he didn't think he had the volume up that loud... Pulling the helmet off, he moved to turn the volume down, while simultaneously muffling the mic, which he would later claim was an accident. "Look Pan... I don't want to leave Carpo here either. They did some awful s**t to us in there... and the longer hes in there without you, the more antsy they'll get," he said, pretending to drop the helmet for this next part," You're right.. I know the path to Leo's really well. I've been there a dozen times, so the way I see it.. as soon as you get us past the city lines, I've got it under control. Then you should turn around and try to bring Carpo back... I'll make up some lie to Alpha for you... say you're treating some of the folks in back.. ok?" With that said, he picked the helmet back up and let out a chuckle. "Sorry about that Alpha...Hands are still a bit asleep from the cuffs I guess," he said with a smile as he put the helmet back on," anyways, I got the GPS running so we are all set." Kravos hopped into the front seat as he spoke and adjusted a few things before starting the car up. He then proceeded to get them on the road and heading out, keeping his eyes purposefully off of Pan, so that te man could disappear whenever without Alpha noticing..

Pan smiled and felt warmth melt across his chest of Kravos's thoughtfulness. He nodded and followed the other man's lead.
When ready, Pan would be helping the other's into the back of the truck, and make sure the path was clear for them. Pan found a switch to open the gate doors. He watched the doors open and gave Kravos's a signal to start driving, when they were passed the gate, Pan would've closed the gate and and dove out through the gap just before it closed.
Out in the cold wind and fresh snow, the blizzard had not yet started, but he watched the truck slowly drive forward before giving one last glance behind him, dread eating him at the pit of his stomach. He turned back and chased the truck to skillfully maneuver his way into the passenger seat, next to Kravos.
~~ Alpha huffed at Pan's back talk and worked to keep his temper in order. Then the signal jolted and the receiver muffled. Alpha panicked at the loss of the picture. "Wh-What happened? Rene?Zed? What happened?" his chest pounded hard as he feared the worst... Only to practically fall to the ground Kravos replied, saying that he just dropped the helmet. "Dear chri... Kravos man, don't scare me like that...!"

The road was hazardous, slippery with ice and snow, but Kravos seemed to handle it with ease. It seemed as though he had done this before and with his track record that was totally possible... After all, he had been to Sans Espoir at least five times, under a different name each time... They drove down the rocky road for awhile only for it to start to smooth out as they approached the nearby city. Soon they could see people and cars moving about their day. It had not been long since Pan personally had been in the midst of this, brainwashed into thinking this was all okay, just like the people they drove passed. Kravos had been detached from this life for years now, but even he still felt a twinge of longing as they drove through. After all, this had been his home. An it had been a nice home... an easy home.. until he'd screwed it up. Sighing, he scanned over everything for what was quite possibly the last time... Soon they were outside of the city and heading down the rocky patch that would take them to Leona's and to safety... "Hey Boss... is Leona there with you?"

Alpha leaned against the wall and watched the screen for a while. It was hard not to feel anxious with all that's happened so far. Now, it seemed that the rebels no longer had to risk Leona and her team's safety. She can get in, get her citizens and get out... But all this planning and prepping, felt thrashed and wasted. Who knows what these monsters would do to Carpo..- the time had passed and Kravo's question had cut into Alpha's train of thought. "Huh?Oh. Uhh.. She's not in the room with us... D..Did you want to talk to her?" he asked carefully. Leona had done so much for these rebels already and to reveal to her this debauchery wouldn't exactly thrill her... would it? " She doesn't really know what's happened to Pan and Carpo, probably... telling her may upset her... though she does deserve to know the truth..." Alpha looked to Rene, his eyes asking to the blonde if they should tell her or not. He couldn't seem to verbally ask Rene to politely retrieve the captain yet. He couldn't even seem to decide. With Carpo and Pan acting on their own, Alpha couldn't help but question himself. Am I doing the right thing?
What do I do now?

Indecisiveness and self-doubt settling perfectly in his thoughts. Talking to Kravos, knowing that he and the others are still alive, however helps put his troubling mind at ease... if just for a little while. "Let me ask you, how did you meet her?" Alpha grinned, glancing back at Rene and quietly asking him to fetch the Captain. ~~
In the passenger seat, Pan too had stared hard over his old home. Seeing the other cars made him giggle a little. He had never learned to drive. It seemed like such a silly thought to pass across his mind.
What if he had learned to drive? Before, he'd never needed to because his home and his work were so close together. A car was not necessary for Pan to do his tasks. He'd work, follow Mother, read his provided books and go back home. Of course Shen would be there too....
If he had learned to drive...? What would have become of him? Pan saw his old home zip passed the windows and the thought kept coming through his mind. If he had learned... He felt his throat tighten. Would Shen still be alive?
Pan could imagine it now. They would've been test-driving. Shen would've pushed and prodded for doctor to get out more and get any kind of vehicle. Pan had the respect and credit to afford whichever car he wanted. He would have easily been granted permission to own one. They wouldn't have been in their usual formations that day that seemed so long ago now. Maybe late to worship Mother, but they would've only received a penalty... well Pan would've taken Shen's penalty too. But that would've been it... right? Just a penalty... No jail, no death, no horrifying experiments from Sans Espoir... just a slap on the wrist... right?
Pan found himself in tears as he faced away from Kravos looking out the passenger window, outlooking the denser, white and gray forest. He didn't make any noise, the tears just fell... feeling cool against his cheeks.
Even though the thought of his friend being alive and well was nice, he managed to make the tears stop at one other thought.
I never would've met Carpo or the truth of what I am. And that was enough.
Pan could hear the conversation from Alpha and Kravos. When he took that walk with Leona himself, he could tell she felt something for Kravos. What those feelings were, Pan could not know. He felt an overwhelming sense of guilt fall over him, like cold rain in a humid storm. Leona was kinda to him, but he just can't leave Carpo behind. The albino plagued his mind with want and worry to the point now that only Carpo mattered... well... almost.
Should Kravos glance at Pan, he would see the man grow anxious. They were passed the city limits, and if Pan got the okay to leave now, he might be able to still make it... though that thought seemed idealistic at this point. He'd then see Pan pull out a small envelope... the same one Pan tried to give Carpo earlier.

"Yeah.. If you don't mind boss," Kravos said, his smile reflecting in his voice," I have some important things to ask her.." Watching as they shifted to the forest, Kravos glanced over to Pan and gave him a thumbs up. But the albino didn't leave right away. Instead, he pulled something out. An envelope of some sort. The brunette watched him fiddle with it for a second before turning his eyes back to the road. He really couldn't afford to look away from it now that they were entering the forest, it was just too dangerous. So if Pan had any intention of telling him why he was pulling out the envelope, he'd have to do so without visual aid. "Uh... welll... You know the escape I set up for myself last year? The one in the dead of winter? Well, I had to take the sewer route that time.. and I wasn't really able to turn the water off so I kind of had to swim through it? It was stupid I know, but they were lookin to kill off that persona, so I didn't have much of a choice. Anyways, one of the governments goons, Shen I think? Well, he found me wanderin and thought I was one of hers what with how close to the border I was, so he took me there to get transferred over to her country. We very quickly figured out the mixup and she convinced Shen not to send me back," he said, a sort of daydreaming look on his face as he recounted the tale," I've meeting up with her ever since.. giving her the folks that were smart enough to know this country sucked, but that didn't quite meet your standards for the gang. Speaking of her country I-" -- Rene was uncertain as to whether receiving the captain was a good idea or not, but upon Alpha's request, did so without question. Moments later Leona was rushing into the room, quickly scanning the screen. "Where is he?" "I'm the one wearing the headset, so you'll have to see my face until I get there. How you holdin up?" "How am I-? You are the one who almost got himself killed. Asking how I am, I should slap you for that," Leona said with a frown as she moved to Alpha's side and stared at the many screens," Alpha where is he.. and how did he get out. Rene said Pan did it...?"

With Kravos focused on the road and talking, after his signal, Pan took that opportunity to act. He happened to rummage through the glove compartment and before Kravos could look back, Pan was gone. In his place on the passenger seat was the white envelope, with Alpha's name on it.
Pan would make his way back to Sans Espoir with no resistance, just a worried look on his features.~~ Alpha on the other hand, was grinning at Kravos' story, though he was beginning to get a tad suspicious at the lack of Pan in his view. He figured that Kravos was just trying to focus on driving. " Captain, how did... What made you want to help our cause? To convince Shen...?" Alpha asked out of curiosity.

Ymir was waiting patiently outside the operating room, his back to the door and eyes staring down the hall. Inside he could hear the doctors move around and the heart monitor beep. They had put Carpo under and the doctors had made the first incision. They'd be starting the process of transferring the new heart over within the next hour or so.
A lot of work and thought had gone in to this over the past week or so.... And it needed to go perfectly. If it didn't, they would lose the one thing that could keep both TR and Pan under control.. Carpo... They'd realized shortly after the last run in with them, what the young man meant to Pan.. And what he was willing to do for him.. They were certain he'd go to war for them, if it meant Carpo would be safe. Insuring Carpo lived, insured that they would continue to hold that sway over him....

Leona frowned some as her questions stayed unanswered, she didn't push it though and instead just kind of relaxed.. "I'm mean... it really had nothing to do with your cause... In my country, we see greater value in life than they do here... When Kravos insisted that if he got sent back he'd die.... I couldn't let Shen do it. And then Kravos explained himself further over time and it just.. seemed like helping was the right thing to do..."
