Walter was finished with his tea of course. He had already set the spoon down beside the cup, that was the biggest sign perhaps. But when Ruuvan aired his concerns, Walter was without response. He was a butler, a man servant, a live in waiter, chef, maid, and gardener, but he was an atrocious day planner.
With that Walter smile he simply, kindly responded.
Master Ruuvan I wouldnt know where to begin. But should there be anything that would greater entertain the Master I am at his behest.
---
It as like play doh! Or very wet silly putty! You stick your hand in and it simply attaches itself for a moment refuses to let go until the arcana wears off being so dis-attached from its home and fades into nothingness leaving a clean hand feeling slightly tingly!
As for the landing...Teira had inadvertently opened a whole new box of worms with that flash on her back. Because it glowed. That meant it was shiny. And shines and D got along better than him and candy! He dove at Teira like the nimble little...thing, he was! Both hands tried to land on her shoulders, while his legs tried to look wrap around her sides and hips like a piggy back!
SHINEYYYY!
He shouted as he dove, he was purely innocent, he'd never hurt her! He didnt weigh very much at all. And perhaps somehow deep inside he knew she was stronger than perhaps even she realized. Still, if he found a safe landing he'd immediately start looking down the back of her shirt, where the shiny thing went. Whispering to himself repeatedly just under his breath.
Whewr'd it go? Whew're? Is it hiding? I know...hmmm...whewre...

"UWAAA?!"
She squeaked as he pounced, the purple shiny suddenly forgotten.
It's a good thing that D had just latched himself around her waist, otherwise in her innocence, and with the questions of 'where'd it go?!' as he looked down the back of her dress, she would likely have taken it off to search for whatever it was that went missing.
As it was, she tried desperately to look behind her at whatever it was D had found and was so excited about, turning her head from side to side.
As D checked her back for the shiny, what he would see, was a massive tattoo that spanned the whole of her back. The same lines that had been glowing but now, were just an intricate design of celtic knotting, resembling... Four wings? The larger upper two sweeping up her back to her shoulders, and the smaller two, arching down to her waist.
"Miyyaaaa?!! Where what Deeeeeeee?!!"

Ooooh!
D said, because while he had watched his big brudda sketching runes on pads and walls before he always thought they looked really really cool. This was no exception.
You gots um....umm....
He knew what they were, the word danced on the tip of his tongue but he couldnt get it. But he knew how they worked! At least in theory, so with his legs firmly holding him in place around the elven womans hips, he flapped his arms like a set of...
...Wingy's!
That was it! He wrapped his arm forward around her neck to hold himself, using the other to further inspect the markings.
On yer backs!
And then he hopped off of her making flaps in the air, trying to demonstrate what wings were. Just in case.

Now she reeeeeally wanted to see what was on her back. She let out a frustrated noise as her impatience was almost too much to bear in the grip of curiosity. D hopped down and started waving his arms and she just blinked down at him in puzzlement.
"Teira.... Wiingu?"
She reached around to her back, straining slightly to feel between her shoulder blades and down her spine a bit.
"Here?"

Yeah! Yeah!
D said, hopping up and down and flapping, while skittering behind her. His hands lifted up, and he stood on his tippy toes placing both index fingers on the tips of both wings.
Wike dis!
He said, lowering his hands down, and around, basically tracing the outline of the wings across her back. The pattern itself was way to complex for him to copy. But it would give her an idea what he was talking about.
S'wike a butterfwy!
They were really pretty. And apparently sometimes they were shiny too!

"Bwutterfwy?"
She shivered slightly, giggling as he he traced his pudgy little finger over some semblance on the pattern that was apparently on her back, it tickled!
She had a rough idea of the shape on her back now... but she still didn't know what wings were... nor why she had a picture of them where she couldn't even see it!

Ya!
He said. Now this was a tricky part, how do you point out wha wings are for? D was definitely not suited for teaching duty, but he did know how to point and name. And in this case, thats all he needed.
He ran off!
Not very far, but just far enough to be away from the board and tree where they had landed, and toward the smaller flowers, where a butterfly just happened to be floating by and he pointed.
Butterfwy!
It was a pretty yellow buggy with orange and red designs.
See! Wingys do dis!
And he continued to flap its arms, much like it swung its powerful wings. After all, it had four, and she had four. Well it really only had two, but he didnt know that, it looked like four!

((PM sent to you Max.))
Ruuvan nodded at Walter's comment, smiling as he once again allowed his gaze to drift over the horizon; it was a wonderful day made all the better by a nice cup of tea. "You shared tea with me, that is enough." He said with a slight bow of his head, "But I think I shall take a walk around the island... I want to be alone with my thoughts for a spell." With another slight bow and smile given to Walter, Ruu started off in no direction in particular. Of course it wasn't that big of an island, but Ruu just wanted to relax.
((See y'all in two weeks.))

"Nyyyaaaaa!!"
Teira gasped in wonder! SHE was like the pretty butterfly she had been chasing in the garden? How could that be?! If she had wings like them, she wanted to be able to fly like them too!
She began running around in a circle trying to catch a glimpse of her wings before collapsing dizzily and sprawling on the grass.
"Murr.."
Came the discouraged sound as she watched the butterfly confusedly.

Of course, Master Ruuvan.
That was a puzzling response. If he didnt know better he'd think Ruuvan was perhaps upset by something but, there was little he could do about that. He made it a habit not to peer into peoples minds or souls unless invited. And he wasnt invited.
Ruuvan had quite a long space to walk, Shadow Island was after all roughly two square miles in size. Walter would take up the tray, and cups, and make his way back inside to clean the dishes. Only exiting about five minutes later to return to tending the garden.
----
D watched her. Because he had absolutely no grasp on how or why magic worked the way it did...and sometimes didnt. He just watched, honestly waiting for Teira's wings to sprout and for her fly up into the sky like a butterfly, but it just wasnt working.
He knew enough to know that the marks alone werent going to fly.
As she hit the ground he skooched up beside her, his hands resting on his knees. A concerned and confused look spread across his young face.
Mmm...
His nose scrunched as he tried look like he was really deep in thought like his big brudda.
...you gotta make'm gwowy, and stuffs.
He looked back up at the butterfly, and then smiled another fiendish tooth grin from ear to ear.
What if you wer in da air?

Sitting up she folds her hands in her lap and blinks at her young companion, cocking her head to the side trying to make sense of what he just said...
"Glowwwy.... air... nyuu?"

Yeah! Air!
He immediately reached forward trying to grab the bundle of fingers that were her folded hands. And turned to run off toward the edge hopefully with a Teira in tow. It wasnt very far, but he would do his best to take her there, to that very edge.
This was the best way to explain the concept of being in the air. After all, Shadow Island was 6000ft...in the air. And hand motions didnt work earlier, so he would take her to the edge of the island, and then point straight down.
In da air!

Blinking in surprise as D grabbed her hand and took off at a run towards the edge of what? The edge of the world! For all Teira knew, this was the very edge of existence. Now Teira could see quite far with those almond shaped eyes of hers, very far indeed. But looking over the edge of the island, she couldn't see anything below them except blue, like the sky. It seemed endless. She gulped and looked at D...
"Teira no get..."
She gestured over the edge.
"...What.... air?"
She totally wasn't following.

You gotta fwy, in da air...
She wasnt getting it. Not the he could say he was surprised, wether she got it or not he would probably have done the same thing. His hand gently slipped from around hers, and she gazed into the endless blue below.
A smile spread across D's face, sly and sneakily creeping from ear to ear, his sharp fangs looking ever as ominous as the grin that revealed them. But in his mind this all made perfect sense, wings were meant for the air. And since they were like a butterfly, and butterfly wings folded up when the butterfly landed and stuff, just like a bird, maybe she needed to fly. And fly for real! Not for fake! So he would help her!
His boots dug into the soft grass turf, he hands pushed forward and in completely innocent tone he half-shouted.
Fwy!
While his hands shoved against the small of her back, to push her clean off the island so she wouldnt bump her head on the island if she spun while she fell. Somewhere in his mind he figured that if her wings didnt open, it was a very long fall, so he had time to jump down and catch her...maybe. In all honesty it wasnt the very best thought out plan. In fact it probably wasnt very well thought out at all...but, really what more can you expect from The Destroyer?

"Myu?"
She blinked at him, staring back out into the endless blue. At first she paid no attention to D letting go of her hand, although... in retrospect, maybe that's where she went wrong. Her ears twitched slightly at the child's movements, but as she started to turn her head around to see what he was up but at that moment, two pudgy little hands shoved into the small of her back with an amount of force no normal child should have been able to muster.
"NYU?!!"
Her eyes went wide as she fell forward, arms flailing trying to regain her balance, but it was too late, she'd been too close to the edge to try and regain a foothold.
That was that, over she went with a screech of panic.
"NYYYYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!"
Free falling, she clawed at the air wildly, flapping her arms like D had been doing.
"Fwy! FWY! FWWWYYYY!!!"
She cried desperately, Everything was a blurr, Crossing her arms over her chest, hugging herself, she closes her eyes fighting back tears.
What D would see from above, was a flicker of crimson...
:: Do not be afarid. ::
:: Myuu?::
She thought at the voice, so startled by it, she opened her eyes again. BIG mistake, quickly she scrunched them closed tight and whimpered.
:: My chosen child... Do not fear, for you are never alone. Blessed is you, who is loved by both fire and darkness... Since the day you first drew breath I have been with you and never left you. Embrace your fear and turn it into courage, for you are beloved of Syer'a'shen'dra and you shall make your weaknesses, strengths.::
Teira had gone very quiet, wrapped in a warm feeling of absolute peace. The voice felt so familiar, it soothed her, the words like a calming lullaby spoken in the depths of her heart.
The crimson light would pulse again, stronger, brighter.
Then from above D would see a blinding flash of incarnadine light, as the tattoo on Teira's back blazed defiantly even as the elven woman continued to plummet in rapid descent.
::You shall not fall, for you are carried upon the dark wings of Fate...::
Teira, knew what she had to do...
She wasn't sure how or why, but she reached deep within her spirit and called on everything that tied her to that ancient warmth... a part of her that felt older than she could remember or comprehend. And instantly, it was as if she had known how to all along...
The skin of her back split, a wet sucking sound as bone, tendon, muscle and feather pushed through her flesh and snapped outwards. Four perfect ebony wings.
There was a brief moment of blinding pain as they burst forth from their fleshy prison. The wet feather's dried almost instantly and as they spread like an obsidian banner stretching across the sky, she opened her eyes in amazement.
Teira was flying.
